will have to try this.
I have learned a lot of Chun-Li’s combo to find myself not being able to do them because I cannot get in close enough. I’m fairly new at the game and am still learning how to rushdown with Chun-Li. With that said. I was hoping that we could share the options that Chun-Li can use to break-in and eventually get the opponent into the air. Please share your strategies for breaking in with Chun-Li in order to rush down or launch your opponents into the air.
I have been trying jumping overhead with her H. punch©, low M. Kick(B), crouching H. kick©, and then Special to launch.
I’ve tried using her L. punches(A) as an overhead and they do not work. I have tried dashing into use the L. punch, M. kick, and H. punch (A, B, C) but people usually block.
What break-in options do you guys use, and how do you guys mix them up?
use hsien-ko super armor assist and combo off of that. end of story. every team is going to be doing this eventually… lol.
Hahaha! I’ve been using Sentinel and Magneto to cover me while I go in by using the lightning legs. However, I want to go beyond the lightning legs and use real combos, now. Something much more functional and direct. Without having to deal with her rapid kicks all the time.
Some people are saying wesker’s low pistol assist is good along with an instant overhead to create unblockable setups but you have to be close already for that.
Iron Man unibeam with a super jump and airdashx2 should get you anywhere you need to go, I would think. Just use jump L or M and then go into whatever you want if it hits.
Dash jMK… (mixed with backjump first fools many ppl)
Dash, block, punish,…
To advance mix up with triple jumps and dashes and call in a projectile ground assist while doing so.
jMK can also cross up, landed it quite a few times.
Using Dante: Jam Session Assist can guarantee you a free air combo.
f+H is a good jump in imo. I land it quite often.
@Chun Pai: Hsien-Ko Super Armor Assist? Sounds quite cool.
I like using her air dash to get in. you could probably shoot a a light kikoken, call an your favorite assist (I usually use Ryu’s hadoken or Wesker’s samurai edge), jump and immediately air dash in and use an air move to hit over head and cancel into lightning kicks.
Captain America Shield Slash approach enemies to you thanks to the new bommerang effect of the Shield, also Hsien-Ko’s alpha assist do this, they are nice options to reduce the distance problem.
building off what people have been saying – a decent assist can cover a lot of space for you. As far as actually getting there, you could always wavedash in, and mix up your approach between a tri-jump or c.mk to get your combos off.
just spamm her kicks
That might get you killed. Often.
From very far away against characters without beams, chun-li can fire off a light kikouken and use it as a limited shield to dash in about half screen. This works well against enemies without beams. Even better would be to summon a projectile assist first. Afterwards, when you are within half screen range, chun-li can dash in and attack. It works very well for me.
Unless they have beams. If they do, you’ll have to take to the air to get in. Using double and triple jumps instead of super jumps is a great tactic, since chun-li can still summon assists when she double jumps.
I’m not used to mvc but what about pokes in this game? How do I punish them if it seems I get stuffed no matter what I toss out. Can’t do combo if I can’t land the first hit to begin one lol…that goes for every character. I mean,I do fine, but I can tell there’s something missing. Also, what are cross over counters and how is it done? Cpu was in my block string and he swapped and countered me I believe.
chun unblockable setups… this could probably use its own thread, but since i dont have many setups im not the right person to make it. anywho this seems best here for now.
could people list the ways they use to setup chuns unblockable with wesker?
mine are VERY obvious, but still strong, but for sake of discussion ill post them:
like i said they are REALLY simple and i expect everyone to already use some form of these.
- s.:h:+:a2: xx :f:+:h:
really simple, can be jumped out of… surprisingly powerful against the unsuspecting.
-
airdash :h: or
+:a2:,:f:+:h: also has holes but an unblockable off an airdash.
-
s.:h:+:a2: xx jumpcancel backwards, airdash
or :h:
if using airdash H here it can Option select unblockable or air grab for jumping opponents though the timing is slightly different for either. if jumping forward or neutral, chun can instead crossup with jumping :h: or if they were crouching… character specific.
so those are my basic unblockable setups. does anyone have any others? it seems as if they are a very valuable tool in the chun/wesker arsenal.

Whenever I play online or offline the Chun player just rushes me with lightning legs from all kinds of distances. They mash it nonstop bc they know I can’t stop it. Can anything stop it? I tried training mode with a friend briefly and nothing worked except a long range heavy attack from Magneto and that only worked once. I hope keep away isnt the answer
Advancing guard could work. Call assist. Super Jumping. Bait lightning legs and punish with a hyper combo if your opponent likes to spam those leg animations. Make them eat it.
Well I was looking for a faster option such as crouching heavy etc but it seems no normal attacks beat the legs clean everytime
X-23 is really fast with her L and M. You could try that. But I wouldn’t try to beat out her lightning legs. I would dash back and then punish, or dash back and use other projectiles to hit her out of it.
you can’t stop it physically. it even hits behind her.
projectiles are pretty much all that work.
I’m also having the same problem. This is kinda embarrassing, but last night I was playing a Chun who would jump at me and mash legs with Viper. I called Ammy’s Cold Star to stop it but she caught on and super jumped it and mashed on the way down. If only I knew how to Seismo sjc Seismo consistently I could probably stop it, but it’s frustrating to say the least haha.
Pretty much this. LL gives massive frame advantage, so if you attempt to press a button after blocking it, it’s very likely that the Chun player will hit you first regardless. I would push-block her out if she attempts to get in with it, and use projectiles if possible.
