Hmmm, I see. I was wondering about the speed of the move since it looks like it comes out pretty fast. I am working on a Dorm/Doom/Akuma squad. I originally had Wesker with Dorm/Doom. I don’t think that will help me since I’m thinking about how to make Dormammu better in the neutral game. I think Tatsu can do some wonders for Dorm, even though I did try out Lariat (but Tatsu seems so much better than Lariat at defense). I also want to make Doom super-scary with an assist and I thought of Tatsu since I like Akuma as a character.
I’ve been using Ammy and Akuma for awhile and I’ve noticed that these two work very well with each other. I had used Hsien-Ko before, but Capcom didn’t give her good boost in UMVC3, so I worked on Vergil and put him on 2nd, Ammy on point, and Akuma on anchor. Are there any good tips with this team? Should I also rearrange the team?
The team you have atm I am getting is Ammy/Vergil/ Akuma. This is a very unique team because Ammy does have one of the best assist with cold star. I personally love to have Vergil/ Akuma/ Ammy but that is just me. The reason why is because Akuma’s tatsu doesn’t cause a knockdown anymore ( thats why Wesker gun shot into Tatsu assist doesn’t work anymore like in MvC3)
I can see why you would want Vergil 2nd cause you want to gain meter, but is it possible you can play Vergil without meter? cause if you can defiantly put him first.
Ammy. Akuma as either 2nd or 3rd really is hard because I believe Akuma benefits most out of lvl 3 x-fac. but Ammy can do great things with her lockdown assist with Akuma on point. For example, when you kill off an opponent, call ammy cold star assist and then teleport right behind the incoming opponent. you there have a 50/50 mix up. on the next character they might expect it so just call ammy, and just block with Akuma and watch them get hit with cold star, mix it up and make your opponent guess wrong.
If you do have Akuma and Ammy left in a match with 2 bars or more, try calling team supers, because I think Akuma’s super ends earlier then Ammys so you can teleport to your opponent while Ammy’s super is still going and go for high low mix ups. but if Ammy does hit them, Akuma can otg demon flip them
Akuma (Tatsu) / Task (H.Arrow) / Wesker (S.Edge)
Task’s arrows assist does decent chip. If the opponent jumps to avoid them, you can jump into air throw then use Demon Flip - Dive Kick (OTG) to start up a combo for some good damage off of the throw.
Akuma’s Tatsu assist works good with Task’s Shield Skills, breaking projectiles and putting good chip damage on the opponent.
Which characters, not that Ult’s been out for a while, do you guys think benefit most from Tatsu assist at this point? Tasmaster, for sure. Doom definitely. Wolverine likely but I haven’t really played it so I’m just assuming. I’m thinkin of trying an xxx/Akuma/Doom but want a point who can be excruciatingly cheap with Tatsu.
Spencer and Wesker also benefit as well.
Ah right. I knew wesk but totally forgot spencer. I asked a friend who is, like, a marvel genius. And he actually said firebrand likes a tatsu the most! Any idea why? I know fb likes a lockdown, but I have no idea how he profits from the midscreen knockaway
Firebrand can probably grab them after Tatsu connects, which brings the opponent right into the corner for lockdown all day
Tatsu also helps Dormammu for getting some space. Get a block string into Flame Carpet + Tatsu or Dark Matter (xx Dark Hole) + Tatsu.
Dorm/Taskmaster/Akuma is a nightmare and can be a good lame-style team centered around Dorm. All else fails, rushdown Task + Tatsu and XF3 anchor. Think I found the team to use for the long run. How good is it against Zeros?
Anyone tbh, I thought it would be hard to connect off a tatsu since the soft knockdown got taken away, but its still easy as pie if you have a standing normal with a half decent hitbox(see 90 percent of the cast). But the people who prolly get the most would prolly be sword peeps, so dante, vergil, amateratsu and trish and teleport peeps like wesker, dormammu and dr strange. Add two and two together and vergil, dante are prolly the two characters who get the absolute most out of akuma. Naturally this is all my opinion so make of it what you will.
Personally Im working on a viper/ammy/akuma team, I strongly believe he is one of the best anchors in the game(although akuma/drones is a really nasty combo on paper) but the assist is just too good to pass up on and since(unlike sentinel) he can hold his own against pretty much anyone, there really is no reason not to run him on anchor(unless you absolutely want to play him on point).
Anyone in europe or east coast, add me on xbl @ dr9ickvondoom for some Akuma training games. I play Akuma/Doom/Strange with Akuma on point.
Right now I’m using Taskmaster, Hawkeye, Akuma but am thinking of putting Akuma second because of Hawkeyes poor dhc and poor damage output. I feel he is not better than Akuma as anchor, but benefits the most from XF3, and with Akuma second he can still dish out lots of damage without xfactor. What do you guys think?
I’ve been watching a lot of knives and i’m gonna try my hand at akuma since i’ve been struggling to find an anchor and a 3rd character. how well does akuma do vs morrigan bubble spam. can he demon her on reaction to the activation? currently usingSpencer/Zero/Akuma. i really like how akuma and zero work together powered up hadgenki isn’t a terrible assist for akuma big enough game between the FB’s to get in an overhead. also working on Akuma/Zero/Task when i need to deal with zoners.
I was wondering if you can make the order Zero/Task/Akuma for a much better team. Task as an anchor can have it rough.
Have you thought about putting Dormammu/Storm instead of Hawkeye?
Haven’t really since I dont really like either character but thanks anyway for the suggestion. I just kinda stuck it out with Task, Hawk, and Akuma in that order. I’m using Hawkeyes scatter shot assist over greyhound as it works good with Tasks zoning when I want to zone, and I still have Tatsu for rush down and ground pressure. I’m sticking with Akuma anchor because his comeback factor is way better than Hawkeyes, and I just can’t give that up so I’m just going stick with this I guess. I love Hawkeye too much to drop him lol.
That’s perfectly fine. That’s actually a pretty good team.
Well after practicing some more with Akuma, I’m getting more comfortable with his play style and am learning to be less reliant on xf comebacks with him. I still feel that on my team that Akuma is better second because he dhcs so well with Task and does more damage without xf than Hawkeye does. If need be I could always bring Hawk in and use Tatsu as a gtfo assist and use it to do easy net arrow loops, but I feel Hawkeyes most viable position is anchor, or point with TWO assists helping him keepaway, and not second. does anyone have any input on how viable Akuma second is?
The problem with Hawkeye on point is that he doesn’t have good options at start of round, doesn’t build a lot of meter, and you don’t start off with space against rushdown characters. Hawkeye seems best at 2nd, but yeah DHCing into him is bad. It’s so problematic with where to place Hawkeye sometimes…
Akuma is good at second, but the best assists to pair him up (Drones and Missiles) with can make for bad anchors. Though Cold Star could work and perhaps Jam Session.

Anyone here using Akuma and Hiryu? How effective is Akuma with Vajra, aside from HKDs?
