MvC3: "She only resembles your mother" The Trish Thread

New Trish player here, just discovered her not too long ago and let me just say I love Trish in this game! Never even played Devil May Cry, so I don’t know her story, but man this character is fun and has great options to either rush or keepaway… this is the only character that helps me destroy(or annoy) good Wesker players and other tough opponents. Glad I found another character I really enjoy like Morrigan and Haggar.

I use Trish/Hulk(Dormammu)/Morrigan and it’s works pretty well, majority of DHC’s connect mid screeen and do ridiculous damage in the corner.

Also, beating Dante players and hearing the win quotes are always enjoyable btw.

i play a mixup heavy Trish and it works fine but you have to know how to do it. Now for the ground throw mixup thing I think its not a good idea for a few reasons. 1. its very tricky to time and if you mistime it you will be dashing at then and will more than likely get punished. 2. its a little to character specific for it to be a real big help. 3. if you didnt notice people like to mash on wake up and do all types of crazy things so you might get hit. 4. The only time this may be useful is in the corner and you can an assist to back you up.

Im not saying dont learn how to use it but what im saying is dont bank on this set up saving you lol. Save it for a rainy day. Also that was a pretty nice find though.

A find? wow I thought it would have been brought up here before. Anyways, yea I didn’t find it something that you would use very much at all, rather one of those aces you have hiding up your sleeve you could pull out every once in awhile.

How does Trish hold up on her own as an anchor? She seems to have good tools to get in by herself or even run away but I would like to hear from players who have actually experienced her as an anchor.

I think TwistedJago has her as an anchor.

Stuff I’ve been messing with in the lab.

Cool stuff. I’ve been using cr.:m: as an anti-air for quite some time now, and I find it really good against people that tries to rush you down endlessly. It’s literally a free punish since they never expect their jump-in attack to completely whiff and when you do punish them, you make them think twice about jumping in again.

Though, sometimes you gotta watch out with what they are jumping in. I played against a really agressive Akuma player who constantly tried to get in with air tatsu and found out that Trish’s cr.:m: doesn’t go under tatsus which made me sadface. So yeah, gotta watch sometimes, but it’s definitely her best normal, imo.

How is Trish as an anchor? I’m considering using her with Thor (Mighty Smash) & Haggar (Double Lariat) but I can’t figure out my team order.

Well with level 3 x factor anything is possible I suppose. I don’t know much about Trish as I am new to using her, but I would say she wouldn’t be your best bet as an anchor.

I don’t wanna put Haggar as point since he kinda relies on assists. The only other choice would be Thor.

I do not like Trish as an anchor a feel that she is better on point. Like Nissan said lvl 3 x-factor can mean a lot, but if you don’t have x-factor at the end of the match Trish is in trouble. Its hard to play a spacing game with no assist with her.

Trish needs xfactor to anchor, imo. You’re most likely going to try to lame out the match at that point.

Edit: Haha, damn, Shakugan beat me to it. I’ll add some stuff so this won’t be a totally useless post.

She can’t really do anything on her own aside from chipping with Round Harvest and maybe get a lucky break with the laser super. Both of which requires xfactor to deal respectable damage. Plus she can’t get mixups off a blocked Round Harvest by herself and without xfactor the chip is not even that great.

Granted Trish doesn’t get the best or the worst X-factor bonuses, I’d still give it to another character. Chip damage on Round Harvest in X-factor doesn’t really do that much damage, not like Dormammu Stalker Fire. Also her Max Voltage super won’t do that much damage unless in the corner. The only thing I’ve found is that as anchor, Trish is one of the best time out characters if you got a life lead. You can whore out those divekicks in X-factor but its nothing to brag about.

She is on point, as an anchor.

^Don’t be a smart ass

So I’m gonna keep her away from anchor. Anyone know enough about Thor to tell me if he’d make a good anchor?

I would put thor last because he can move around better than Hagger and has a projectile. if thor hits you with or without x-factor hes more than likely gonna kill you. I vote thor because he can do more than hagger

Wow… trish forums seem pretty dead these days!

Apart from that, I don’t have many titbits to add…

Yea they are pretty dead… its damn hard to find some new good shit with her.

That’s not true, yesterday I discovered that after an OTG Assist in the corner you can do 214H and do things that wouldn’t normally work like: cr.LMHS > j.H2H > j.214L > j.S > OTG Assist > 214H > S > j.MS > Sword return hits them on the way down > j.H2H > j.236L > j.236PP for anywhere between 649,300 to 677,000.

Using different assists do different damage and some characters doing j.M2H > j.214L easier.

Unless I’m mistaken this is pretty new.

Round Trip combos are pretty tough to stumble upon. That’s an awesome idea to use the Round Trip to stop the opponent from hitting the ground after a j.S and extend the combo.

I use Chun-li assist lightning legs and if I launch I don’t get a very good combo off unless I use meter because of damage scaling.

lightning legs hit, qcf+H, legs end, M-H xx qcb+L, round trip hits, trap activates, H xx qcb+H

Strange combo, but it puts them right on top of another Round Trip when they back tech and Trish can dash in for a mixup.

Today im gonna post a bunch of stuff in each thread and maybe put up some match videos.
