Something I thought about while writing : mag beam + assist beam, on block repulsor during doom beam. Should push him very far away while staying safe.
That sounds like it should work.
The matchup is 9-1 on paper, just run away and bait out lariats.
Also, in the Hagger match up you can smartly use L force field if they are being derpy just jump piping.
Keep in mind it is fully untouchable till he recovers. You can shockwave to dhc to make it safe. Just use it in casuals to see how to abuse it. I kind of use it as an AA. Don’t throw it out any which way just be smart about how you use it.
I was abusing the counter all set. It works, but is actually pretty hard to play in a match. I tried it to anti air a super jump pipe and Haggar recovers able to block. It is nice against regular jump though.
I like it mainly for an option against lariat. It counter lariat in its recovery, and you can use shockwave if they try to make it safe with super.

How the hell do you guys beat zero Dante strider? Mag blast seems like it always gets caught by an assist and Dante is so hardto snipe with disruptah. Ofc if zero touches you you’re a dead man any tips? I play mag/doom/sent btw.
against zero make sure your composition is like this;
emd/hidden missiles/a drones
time your mag blast and assist calls to get the right spacing as well as using :l: or :h: EMD to stuff Lv3 Buster. you can beat him at the start of round by doing os throw into forcefield as you’re calling missles.
if they called and assist it’s taking damage and also when they try to sougenmu the forcefield into shockwave will catch them and then missiles will otg. this will give you a full combo in to touch of death plus a nice meaty incoming mix up
how exactly do you do this? hold forward mash H+missiles, then when the game starts cancel the H mashing into forcefield?
What happens if they dont grab, and just command dash behind you and missiles, or if they decide to up back buster you before you can react with a shockwave.
Sorry to disagree, but none of these actually work and they will get your magneto and doom dead.
Magneto/Sentinel/Doom avoids the incoming mixup with Hard Drive if you happen to lose magneto. Even though a very experienced zero can punish hard drive (i think) it’s a very technical punish and you’ll very rarely get punished for escaping the corner. This order also gives you a stronger anchor, with Doom instead of Sentinel.
Disruptor loses 100% against Buster. it has more startup (7 vs 4 frames iirc) and not even H can battle with buster in terms of durability because you either do it preemptively and nullify buster (you’re still at frame disadvantage) or you do it at the same time and buster plows through H.disruptor to hit you. obviously this gets even dumber when he can jump and send angled busters + rain lightning down on you.
The setup you described DOES NOT work, bloo. you can’t counter + missiles xx shockwave, have the missiles otg after the hyper (it does not work or works very rarely. I couldn’t replicate it in any way) and you surely can’t get a combo afterwards. Not with missiles. it works situationally with drones, but it’s also not something you want to risk against a character that has a 4 frame buster to use after his grab attempt (which does not activate Force Field) coupled with Jam Session assist which is much stronger than Missiles or Drones in the opening gambit.
As for how I’d play that:
Be very patient and very mobile while in the upper corner of the screen. You have your own half of the screen to work with and you shouldn’t move too freely into the midscreen because that’s Jam Session’s zone. It will create an artificial wall midscreen and if the zero player is good, he will kill you from that hit.
Vajra poses troubles but can be avoided by being highly mobile and, most importantly, playing with the volume very loud so you can hear strider calls. Strider can very easily be countered by magneto and doom. magneto has the following options against strider assist:
sj.Sxx magnetic Blast for when you’re up in the air. Brings him down and you can get some hits in before shockwaving into Sentinel’s Plasma Storm for a kill.
j.M or j.S xx dash down at normal jump height. Puts strider in a soft knockdown and allows you to do a quick ground series into shockwave before dhc’ing to HSF to leave him bleeding (might not kill)
st.S for a grounded punish. You can risk doing a bigger combo here, but just shockwaving might be good enough.
While Magneto has arguably the safest positioning at the top of the corner opposite to zero, just chucking blasts will not win you this match, and honestly I think Plasma Beam might be more effective in helping you with Durability wars on the lower-half of the screen (where I’d try to be for most of the matchup), not to mention it’s a fast assist that you do not have when using Missiles/Drones. If you do happen to knock zero down with a disruptor, be quick to call drones and either boxdash L.Blast your way in, or h.Disruptor/Gravitation to keep him grounded long enough to eat at least 1 mix-up from blocking drones.
it’s a very hard match-up. Zero is far more oppressive than magneto. His specials are insane and his preferred assists are so too. Above all, be patient and play the match-up enough times that you don’t die because you didn’t block a super obvious mixup or didn’t punish something you could’ve punished.

PS.: When you kill zero, snap strider. He’s much scarier than Dante as an anchor.
Is akumas tatsu assist good with magneto? also if I’m pairing him with dante what assist is best?
akuma tatsu is cool with mags and dante would be jam session (or weasel, but yoy already have tatsu)
also vs zero, watch for his buster charge. calling assists while he has it charged will get them sniped. the best time to approach and call assists against zero is when he doesn’t have his buster charged
I see what you mean now that I look back at the sets between Champ/ShadyK and Schmidt. I’ve been playing that mu so wrong for so long =/

how’s magneto with nova? I rarely see people use these two together but I’m liking the dhc damage and the unblockable setups. I will have doom missile/beam anchor depending on matchup too.

Well, outside of the DHCs and unblockable setups, Nova and Magneto don’t do much for each other. Nova + Disruptor is ok, Magneto + Centurion Rush isn’t that great. They do work with the same assists (Drones, Bolts, Beam, etc.) so it’s possible to run Magneto and Nova on the same team.
I like Nova + Beam over Nova + Missiles, so I’d recommend Mag/Nova/Beam and/or Nova/Mag/Beam.
Like Azn said, the shell is somewhat redundant as you have two characters trying to much of the same thing but one’s playstyle is more user friendly so to speak. You can get some nice guaranteed high/low>throw setups off of either Gravimetric Pulse :h: or Centurion Rush in the corner. idk anything about the two setups midscreen
