DHC Trick thread in MvC3 General Discussion should have all the info you’re looking for.
You can land hyper grav midscreen with no assist, or with an assist. You can also use that same midscreen hyper grav setup to reverse the direction of your combo and head back the corner. Not much of a shame!
With an OTG assist to get hyper grav, you can’t DHC glitch afterwards. Why is this? Is it that the assist needs to recover before you can bring in another character?
Midscreen no assist being the one where you gotta walk forward a bit after ADDF j:h:, then s:h: hyper grav?
dante’s harpoon into demon trigger puts you into a trap state:
I was using Drones, ending on a disruptor, drones hit, then hyper grav into tempest. I’d imagine quite of the few longer multi-hit assists could be used similarly. Yes, the walk forward hpyer grav setup was the one I was referring to as well. Between this and the ridiculous range ROM loop carries (or other bnbs for that matter), setting up the DHC trick isn’t too bad.
You’re right, after Samurai Edge, Hyper Grav, I did one loop of the hyper grav loop, then did tempest, dhc to Dante, and it worked.
I still haven’t found the answer to this question. I think Alex Valle was doing this during a WNF. his magneto was flying and dashing super fast across the top of the screen. Any ideals on what Normal move you use to cancel the dash and then dash again?
The way Valle did it was most likely this:
{When I use numbers in reference to stick motion look at your keyboards NumPad and you’ll get the idea}
Now after flying try holding the stick/dpad in the following directions while also hitting L, M, and H at the same time)
QCB+S (Up forward(9 or 7 depending currecnt direction)LMH[same time]~down forward (1 or 3 depending on direction)LMH[same time].
Practice that slowly in training mode and then once you get it down after about 4-5minutes you’ll be able to fly magnus around as if he were on crack cause that’s what it looks like to me whenever I do it lol
Dbl pst.
Question for my fellow magnus users;
What’s the best setup (or timing in this case) to use when you [fly+OTG assist] -. j.:s: (overhead stuff)
Do you honestly have to learn the rom loop or the hypergrav loop to be a good magneto? I play on pad and its really hard to do both i can maybe get like 1 rep in on the hypergrav loop. I can do the fly MH stuff pretty easily but i just wanted to learn more combos.
unfortunately yeah you have to learn them eventually or you’ll just become out of the loop (no pun intended). don’t worry about not being able to do combos with magnus on pad.
take masta cj for instance. he’s a magneto player and plays on an xbox pad and can do rom/grav/any kind of swag loop. all because he practiced them to death.
Practice makes perfect every time. My advice is just to learn your most comfortable controller setup, practice the combos and keep doing them until you start to see that you’re getting them down.
AHh i see thanks. I seen a couple of Masta Cj vids but not a lot of his magneto action. I guess i have to work on my timing with my sj cuz i normally sj with the analog.
no problem and i would also like to note that it might even take less effort if you use a fightpad instead a regular xbox/ps3 pad because of the dramatic difference in dpads.
This is probably a very vague question, but I’m gonna work on picking up Magneto. Which of his BnB/important combos is probably the best one to start? I mean he’s got Rom, fly, hyper grav loop, there’s so many different variations of his combos and I’m not really sure where to start. Which of them is the best to pick up first (I do intend to learn as many of them as I can for whatever situations)
I’d start with fly - ROM can be tricky to get down for a lot of people. Hyper Grav isn’t that hard and is obviously really useful. The thing is that as you learn one loop, you can transfer the skills/knowledge to another.
Good luck, may the Swag be with you.
I don’t feel the ROM is necessary but it’s VERY useful… I stick to my magnetic swag into fly loops because I just cannot do the ROM, no matter how much I practice it.
Now the hyperswag loop is extremely useful and damn near necessary. It’s very weird to get down at first but I got it after a half hour, just grind it out
I personally like to TK the fly motion, it makes you fly EXTREMELY low to the ground if timed correctly (your feet are actually lower than the opponent’s) and mixed up with normal fly, it’ll throw off anybody not looking for constant overheads.
That’s for blockstrings though if I’m trying to open someone up… if I already have them in a combo, my favorite thing to do for a reset using fly +assist is
xxx combo (cornered) --> Standing :h: + OTG/low hitting assist --> fly/TK fly :s: or :s: for the triple overhead
I use Wesker and he comes out relatively quickly, so anyone who uses a different assist may need to alter the timing
I’m new to the marvel series and I’m coming to it from SSFIV. Magneto seems to be an execution heavy character from what I can tell. I’ve been practicing some of his fly and “ROM” combos but I just can’t seem to get them down. Is the timing just extremely strict or what? Is this a character that I should just stay away from altogether until I have a better understanding of the game?
Is it possible to fly cancel into air dash in order to call unblockable setups with weskers (or another low) does anyone emply this strategy?
I have been practicing the Rom since the release date. I’m sorry, but people keep saying don’t ask the same question. It’s the initial H in the combo that’s really giving me issues. I simply can’t connect the jump/back H into the ADDF H.
I use the following layout
l h A1
m s A2
I’ve seen a lot of tutorials, they usually piano the first ADDF H. I think if I were able to get the first rep, then the rest appears to be easy. My magneto movement isn’t that shabby. It just seems like you can’t visually confirm the first loop. I’ve tried various timings, but to no avail. I there anyone who use the old MVC2 layout and can give any pointers? I know it’s possible on this layout, I’ve seen it done.
