Can anyone give me a way to side switch of off cr.lmh anywhere on screen. I’d like to do what fanatiq does except with mblast loops and off of a confirm and not just incoming.
TimTim, go check the last page in the combo thread.
I’m having a very strange problem where HyperGrav L simply refuses to cancel into Mag.Tempest.
It happens to me all the time in live games, and I cannot figure out what is causing it. I made a video showing what I mean. As you can see, it’s a super simple input, and the input display shows that everything is perfect. Sometimes I sit in training mode and do this cancel 100x in a row, just to see when and if it will happen. Frequently, it will cancel correctly like 50 times in a row, then all of a sudden it will refuse to cancel like 3-4 times in a row, which is what you see in this video.
Can anyone please explain what in the hell is causing this? I don’t have this problem with any other character. I mean come on, it’s QCB xx QCB. Not exactly high level stuff.

Canceling too fast. The second QCB registers as a DP since you were inputting it too fast. Make sure to hit that neutral (let go of the stick).
If you do a QCFx2 or QCBx2 fast enough it shortcuts into a dragon punch.
Definitely appreciate the response but that doesn’t seem to be the problem. I’m in training mode right now doing it over and over again, being careful to return the stick to neutral, and the same thing is happening. It connects 98% of the time, but sometimes I randomly get a st.M.
Also, if it was registering as a DP then I would be getting a repulsion, not a st.M.
Not only that, but the fact that a st.M is even coming out, proves that I’m at least waiting until the orbs are released. If I was cancelling too early, nothing would come out.
OH shit lol. Like literally 10 mins before my post? I’m a fucking psychic except I’m not because I didn’t see the future, I predicted the past? Damn . Well thanks Ika that shit kinda ruined my day. The combos made it slightly better though.
Btw are you wavedashing twice to get under them? I’ve tried regular dashes before the vid and they never reached. I’m glad something works.
Well…These are how I learned magnus combos in order
Flight Loops (Check)
Mag Blast Loops (Check)
Emp Loop (Check)
Rom (Still learning slowly)
Hyper Grav Loops (Failing more and more every day)
I think my order is slightly fucked up.
I know the problem, it happens to me sometimes too. What’s going on is that you are still holding the L button when you cancel into Tempest(you use L+M afterall), therefore the game only registers the M input, if you want to go safe with it, do M+H for the tempest input and the problem will be solved, or make sure you remove your hand off the L, then tap L+M again. It’s basically the game holding down inputs for buttons not allowing you to press the button anymore, this is the reason why you have to plink tridashes/Magnetic blasts btw.
Basically you are doing
qcb + L, qcb L +M while holding the L from the hypergrav
When you should do
qcb+L, go neutral, qcb L+M, subtle difference but itll work
or to avoid the hassle
qcb+L, qcb M+H
yeah, Magneto has to complete about… 70% of the first :l:+:m: , then cancel it using:d: and do another :l:+:m:, cross under :s:
I was really hoping you were right. But, that doesn’t seem to be the problem either.
I just did exactly 50 reps of this combo as a test, using M+H for the Tempest instead of L+M.
The cancel was successful 47 out of 50 times. Attempt 32 and 33 failed, which is what you see here.

This is just so frustrating. It’s like my game is glitched or something and randomly refuses to acknowledge the input.
Hmmm, what’s happening to you consistently, is that which only happens to most of us occasionally (usually in decisive situations -_-)
I don’t know how to explain it, but a lot of times I used to get st.M instead of my tempest. So now, to counter that, I do qcb+ :h: ~ ~ :l: in quick sucession, almost simultaneously.
What this does is, in case a normal does come out (you fucked up) it’s kara cancelled into tempest within 1/2 frames.
haven’t fucked it up yet, since I started doing it like that.
Just curious what approach some of you are taking when doing Magnetic Blast Airdash tricks. How different is the plink timing from when I want to addf with a magnetic blast opposed to kara blast into auto-corrected j.S for example?
I’m trying to get my box dash magnetic blast down (as well as other angles from SJ height), but often times I just get a j.L or see the magnetic blast flash and nothing comes out. Just wondering what I’m missing here.
Yeah, inf4my, that’s very weird. I didn’t know that was the case, since I get random normals too when I try doing Tempest after hypergrav sometimes.
The autocorrect air normals isn’t really a plink. It’s simply using the Magnetic Blast motion for an air dash to trick the game to think that Magneto is turning around and doing a Magnetic Blast(all specials autocorrect in the air), so using that input to kara a dash will cause autocorrect air normals.
I don’t plink my Magnetic Blasts and I have boxdash Magnetic blasts down very well(but not tridash), but if you are getting a jL that means you have an input error, the only way for the blast to come out is 896 + ATK, if you do 89+ATK6, The blast wont come out.
Speaking of tridash Magnetic blasts, is there any advantage to doing it over a boxdash Magnetic blast at a taller height for example?
From my experience:
mag blast motion & :h:+:m: > :l:/:s: = normal
mag blast motion & :h:~:m:~:l: = Kara Blast.
mine was
flight, hyper grav, rom, mag blast,
and im not bothering with EMP lol
Lol isn’t that the basic order? Man you lucky you got the most important one down.
Any reason it took you this long to go for hg loops?
My order was flight/mblast (same time), HG, Emp, and slowly learning Rom
I find EMP to be the absolute least important. ROM is definitely better to learn
ROM is so satisfying to do/land during a match. Very disappointing though if dropped and gets you killed :(.
