Hey, guys, just picked up Magneto and have some questions.

  1. What is the easiest BNB combo I should go for? Atm, trying magic series but S seems to whiff a lot!
  2. How do I approach/open someone up? Have been trying air dashing and H/S but doesn’t seem to be working and am constantly beaten by my enemy’s normals or overheads. (Storm, Doom, Vergil)

As for approaching and developing an offense, focus on mastering his trijumps and getting from one side of the screen to the other in the air during flight mode first.

Best BnB for somebody with average execution? So far I can do the flight loop BnB until the 4th or 5th airdash H, but I drop it afterwards due to me not actually knowing what’s next in the combo yet. But I can probably do intermediate stuff if I practice. Any suggestions? Planning to play a Mag/Doom/Dante team, if that changes anything.

well, i play the first two most often. so mainly I’m never too far from the ground when Zero is so i can snipe missiles, I’m also dashing under lvl3 buster trying to get under him to get the air to air (I’ve gotten them to stop falling with j.h every time Based Force Field) and that’s pretty much the match up. I try using magnetic blasts to stop him from surfing lightning to move around. Disruptor to get him to not do too much when low to the ground. Try get a few shockwaves at times when it’ll be safe no matter what. and Alpha counter Viper in when things get a little too peak.

But it seems that I’m fighting to make zero screw up… am i doing things wrong? cause they all swear that Magneto beats Zero… but I think they are lying.

Easy starts are the Mag Blast + Fly loop.

Better yet, do a simple hybrid of the two

i think its funny how magneto boards say “start with eay magnetic blast” and there are people outside saying its useless high execution “flash”… weird community.

some people lack execution. that’s why we have characters like… Wesker.

I honestly think execution = time in training mode. Grind enough, and you’ll get the combo down

Question:

Is there some weird timing for the hypergrav and/or magnetic blast loops? After the first sj. H I addf immediately and the next j.H doesn’t come out, but I can hear the sound of it coming out.

I also have this problem with the fly loop, with the ADDF part again.

Are you dashing with H?

I dash with LM then hit H.

In this game, even with top notch execution, you can expect to drop combos due to the stupid amount of pressure and thinking that is involved.

The problem is, I can’t time it at all. Can’t hit him after the ADDF.

You have to pause after the first jH and then ADDF

Is there any reason to ever use fly loop over magnetic blast loop? I see a lot of fly loops on stream but not a lot of magnetic blasts which seems weird to me.

What are my strongest options in the start of the round?

Fly loop is Magneto’s cleanest hit confirm and easiest hit confirm at any height and any situation while Magnetic Blasts are more fussy regarding the height confirm off anti air hits and weight in comparison to fly but are fairly easy to do off grounded hits.

At the start of the round, hump everyone other than Hulk and Taskmaster and Wolverine(if he has tatsu) and mash f+H or u/f+H at the last second, if you have a high priority assist like Tatsu you can mash it along with f+H. Magneto is extremely threatening at the start of the round due to his H option select being extremely fast(8f, which as fast as most characters Ms and slower character’s Ls) and very high priority, and all his throws lead to ToDs if you Xfactor and can lead to pretty to ridiculous resets if you forgo that. Just be wary of Taskmaster and Hulk, do not mess with them unless you are asking for death. Taskmasters Shield Skills is a 6f throw OS that is one of the highest priority moves in the game(grounded or anti air) and if he has the right assists he can kill you off it outright, Hulk has H, enough said.

May I ask, why Hulk and Tasky?

Also there’s a pause before the ADDF lol. So that’s why I couldn’t get it.

Actually when fullscreen, the j:h: adf j.:m: flight loop starter will drop if converted by a Fanatiq-style hit confirm.
