MvC3: Dead Like Me: The Hsien-Ko Team Disscussion thread

Hey, what are people’s thoughts on a team of She-Hulk (Torpedo or Somersault Kick)/Lei Lei (Senpu Bu)/Arthur (Daggers)? I’ve been toying around with ideas on teams that could make Jen work better, as well as a team that might help out Hsien-Ko. Arthur would act as an approach assist as well as a somewhat lulzy anchor. With She-Hulk on point, the applications of both assists seem rather clear cut, with Pendulum acting as very hard to beat lockdown and daggers being used to approach.

With Lei Lei on point, using Torpedo assist lets her set up some nasty unblockables that can be hard to block since you need to block both left/right and high/low. And since neither can be pushblocked, this can lead to some rather insane pressure since Lei Lei can combo off of either hit into a combo.

Sounds nice. If you can find a way to get Hsien-Ko hyper armored then tag her back to She Hulk, it should make her much more scary. If not, the pendulum assist is still solid provided that you can maintain the pressure to protect Hsien-Ko. Safest option to get her hyper armor is using it then DHCing to Arthur’s golden armor. Arthur with that assist is very solid. Acts both as a gtfo and a “wall” so you should have more freedom on spamming his stuffs. Although, make sure Arthur doesn’t die there or else you’'ll lose his great assist. At that situation, you can hard tag back to Hsien-Ko then have access to imo, the best projectile assist in the game, the golden daggers.

For Hsien-Ko on point, having an unblockable sounds nice considering that she loses pretty bad to chicken block unless she gets close enough to sneak in a Cr. L which is difficult thanks to the crappy range it has. I find daggers very reliable. Can work for several things such as zoning, getting in, and lockdown. Just make sure to protect Arthur. If Arthur has golden armor, it’s even better. Golden daggers tears through most projectiles and pierces through characters. It makes her match ups with characters that can out spam her much more bearable.

So far, with some experimenting, I’ve found a safe way to DHC in and out of Lei Lei to get the most out of that assist, though it requires me to spend 3 meter. Overall, the team’s working kinda well, though I need to work on my Jen still. Daggers is great for both characters, and having the back up of Lei Lei’s godlike assist is working wonders for Jen, makes the Zero and Dante match-ups a lot easier to deal with.

I’m currently running Felicia(Rolling Buckler)/Hsien-Ko(Senpu Bu)/Morrigan(Soul Fist). I like having the slow moving projectile while I’m using Felicia. I was wondering if this was an all right team build? I also like to have Nemesis on point sometimes, except when he’s on my team I use Dark Harmonizer. I’m not sure which would make a better team? I really want to keep Morrigan and Hsien-Ko on my team foreverr <3 I’ve been using them since Vanilla, But I’m open to opinions on who would make a better point. Preferably a female~~^^

I’m running Dante/Hsien-Ko/Felicia . It’s my back up team behind Dante/Wright/Strider.

**Arvelous
**1. Who characters and teams will you use (in order of selection)?

X-23/Hsien-ko/Taskmaster ***

2. What type of game-play strategy are you pursuing with this team? (Explain)

Rushdown/mixup/Zoning/Chip

***3. What advantages does your point (first selected) character have?
***She gets the advantage of having great ground mobility. The aid of two assists to extend combo or get in/make things safe.

What disadvantages does your point character have?
She seems weak above her head.

***What maneuverability options does your point character have?
***She has great ground mobility, and she is semi good in the air w/ dragon kicks, Dp, and down aerial.

***How will your assists aid your point character?
***Well, Hsien-ko’s assists almost perfectly covers X-23 body from above. While moving forward and setups for trade situations and other things. Taskmaster helps me to get in from mid to far distance screen length.

4. What advantages does your secondary character have?
She’s a weaker jack of all trades. But, has tools that can make a great keep out or rushdown game.

***What disadvantages does your secondary character have?
***Reflect projectiles, good range tools, air movement, and command grabs.

***What maneuverability options does your secondary character have?
***She has a teleport, an awesome backdash, and airdash.

***How will your assists aid your secondary character?
***With X-23, and Task. Hsien-ko gets the ability to zone with Task. While moving in closer. Also, X-23 gives her unblockables and extends her combos.

5. What advantages does your last character have?
Taskmaster is a great jack of all trades with great normal lengths. Range tools, some limited air mobility, projectile negation, counters, and more.

What disadvantages does your last character have?
Well, he’s weak behind himself and has to watch out for teleports while zoning.

What maneuverability options does your last character have?
Web swing, and Webswing arrows. Which change his mobility and speed of approach.

***How will your assists aid your last character? ***Unblockables, rushdown, Chip, extend combos, and more.

***6. What kind of Delayed Hyper Combo opportunities do you think your team will have? With Hsien-ko on the team you will always get the chance to DHC after an hard knock into whatever you want. Also if X-23 on point she gets invincibility start on her Rage Trigger. Making it semi safe for the slower members to start up their specials. ***

7***. What type of impact will your Team Hyper Combo have on your opponent (Explain)?***
It’s leads into three situations that I am aware of.

  1. reset into super jump height
  2. a hard knockdown? sometimes I think it becomes soft… maybe due to to task’s arrow.
  3. The opponent air techs out of it. Due to hit count.

8. What are some of the weaknesses of your team?
From above is all I can say, and Zero. Which is what he does best.

***9. After filling out this questionnaire, are you still comfortable with your team?
***Yeah, I still am.

Right now I’m playing with two teams: Hsien-ko/Phoenix Wright/Trish, and Trish/Hsien-ko/Morrigan (team goth girls), depending on whether or not I feel like playing Phoenix Wright.

On the first team, Hsien-ko’s golden armor is great for helping Wright get evidence. Once he gets to Turnabout, I’ll usually switch back to Hsien-ko, who’s still gold armored so she can switch in safely, then build meter for his level 3. If Hsien-ko goes down, Trish’s Round Harvest serves as a back up for PW to get his evidence safely. And her Low Voltage helps both Lei-Lei and Wright with their low mobility.

The second is more simple: Trish’s uses Round Harvest, switches to Hsien-ko who uses Golden Armor, then back to Trish, so she can use Hsien-ko’s assist. When Trish is low on health, I switch is Hsien-ko who, again, is armored, and use her until she goes down, with Trish’s Low Voltage again to help her get in. If they both go down, Morrigan does level 3 X-Factor + Astral Vision Soul Fist shenanigans (which I may remind you I’ve been doing since day 1 of vanilla) to comeback. Morrigan’s Dark Harmonizer also helps with Trish’s fun with Round Harvest and Hsien-ko’s general meter hogging.

I’ve been experimenting with Lei Lei/Wright/Doom. I start out by getting some space with a couple of :h: Henkyo ki attacks so that I can start up Armor. Then I tag in Wright to get some evidence while he’s backed by Doom’s missiles and Lei Lei. If that’s not working out, I try to do some zoning with Lei Lei’s gong wall mixed with Doom missiles and Anki Hou. I could also mix up if the missiles put them in stun. Wright’s low hitting Missile assist can also help Lei Lei set up unblockables. Wright in Trial mode can do some similar zoning when he has the cell phone homing projectile or the knife projectiles in conjunction with Doom’s missiles. Doom can zone very well by himself, which is why he’s on anchor. But when he has Armored Senpu Bu and Wright’s low hitting Missile assist, Doom gains access to some pretty tricky mix ups and unblockables. It’s especially dangerous in the corner. The main problem with this team is that both Lei Lei and Wright suffer from a lot of bad matchups. Other than that, the team is very fun to play.

I run a hsien ko, morrigan and ghost rider team.

What do you guys think of Hsien Ko as an anchor? I am currently looking for a new anchor and was wondering if you guys could think of anyway she could benefit a team as an anchor. What would the pros and cons of having her as an anchor be? What would the battle plan be? and what would I want to work on? Generally I was considering either her a or Y assist. Mostly the y assist as it would give my team a projectile to get in with or open people up with. I am currently using Spidey/Skrull/Doom but Doom is getting boring and overrated. I can’t use Skrull as an anchor because his assist primarily and uniquely benefits Spider-Man in extending combos. So he could also benefit from a good projectile or beam assist. So what do you guys think for Hsien Ko anchor? I would greatly appreciate advice on her. Thanks

Hsien-Ko makes a terrible anchor. Even though she gets a considerable speed boost in XF3, her dash and walk speed is still ridiculously slow and damage scaling on her normals obliterates the damage boost she would receive. If you’re using her as anchor and don’t have X-Factor, even approaching your opponent can be a challenge if they’ve decided to run the clock out and just avoid you.

The one benefit that Hsien-Ko gains from being the anchor is that if you manage to score a knockdown and have multiple bars of meter, you can completely wreck someone with by linking multiple Tenrai-Has, which do a ton of damage in XF3.

Also if you’re like me and play HK on point, don’t be afraid to blow XF if you manage to catch a happy birthday. A simple combo into Tenrai Ha, X-Factor into a second Tenrai-Ha is enough to put down point chars and an assist char who have average health.

K. Good to know. Thanks for the balanced analysis. It was good to hear the good and the bad.

Like Ranadiel said she sucks as an anchor honestly besides Haggar I don’t know who could be worse then her in that position, she’s just too easy to lame out. Besides that you’ll be tempted to armor up to power your way through to get a hit. So meter is a problem because you need it not only for damage but a means to get in.

On the plus side you’ll get applause from all the people watching in the lobby you’re playing in for wining with anchor Hsien-ko.

She shouldn’t be anchor. however, she can be good in XF2. Her XF2/3 combos kill most of the relevant cast(not spencer, grrrrrrrrr) without having to spend meter. Successfully killing a character and still in XF2, you can use her launcher dash along with a mandatory lockdown assist and get very good mix up options on the incoming character. You can armor up to prevent most sorts of retaliation from guard cancel x factor>invul hyper.

I recently started using Hsien-Ko because the idea of pelting people with random crap out of nowhere is hilarious. I’m having a bit of trouble coming up with a team with Hsien-Ko and Trish. The idea for the team is keep away and zoning. Hsien-Ko would be throwing random junk while Trish would be using traps and voltages to keep away, but also play rush down when necessary. The problem i’m having is what order this pair should be and who a useful third member would be from a list of characters I’d want to play:
Vergil, Morrigan, Felicia, Jill Valentine, Chun-Li, Magneto, X-23, Dormammu, Deadpool or Phoenix.
(Before anyone suggests Team Darkstalker, I’d rather not, want to have a little originality)

I’m biased, but the best option out of those is Dormammu, especially if you’re going for zoning.

But after playing some sets with ll.nd I have to say the best backup to Hsien-Ko is definitely Amaterasu hahaha

i actually played a x-23/hsien ko/trish team in vanilla
however i had the dhc glitch which made it pretty a pretty strong team because i could kill and have golden assist after my first touch
i don’t know how that would be now though meter gain is nerfed and so is damage output

i don’t know about going with hsien ko as an anchor i mean if you can get her armored up then you don’t really have to worry about incoming mixups
and you’d have to treat her like a phoenix or strider where you want xfactor and bars but the effect is nowhere near the same as those two

i hope/ don’t hope you guys got to see me use hsien ko against joker this weekend
i did really bad i didn’t execute properly, and i’m just not that good
but i think my team composition of hsienko/hawkeye/strider is really good in the sense that i can keep them away as long as they don’t have a teleport (which he didn’t) because i have gong and arrows covering the ground and if they jump strider is send them back down

do you guys think the team is useable ?

After a bit of time in the lab, I think i’ve settled on Trish (Peekaboo), Hsien-Ko (Senpu Bu), and Vergil (Rapid Slash). Both Trish and Hsien-Ko get a get off me assist from Vergil. If Vergil is on point, Lei-Lei’s Senpu Bu with Rimoukon activated could work as a bit of lockdown for him to use while Peekaboo would work like a shield.
As far a DHC opportunities go, since Trish’s air maximum voltage is OTG-capable, I can go into Rimoukon from there and if I have available meter, i’d go into spiral swords to tag Lei-Lei out. Also with Chireitou and Tenrai-Ha both being OTG-capable, depending on positioning, I could land Dimension Slash or Maximum Voltage, for Trish, could even go into Round Harvest to stall for time. Already mentioned in a few earlier posts, but with Trish using Round Harvest, I could DHC into Rimoukon then hard tag back into Trish, regardless if the opponent blocks or not.
Question is should I change the order or the assists? (Forgot to mention that based on the list I’ve posted earlier, I meant to make a team that is capable of rushdown and zoning, misstype on my behalf, lol).

Hey I’m experimenting with Hsien-Ko because of that super armor Pendulum assist. I’m thinking I should make this team with her on point, get a quick bar with her, then use Rimoukon and DHC into a safe Hyper. My current team I’m messing with is Ko/Doom/Sent. Doom’s beam and Sent’s drones can keep the pressure on while I try and rushdown with her to get that bar quickly. Once I get the bar I DHC into finger lazors and get a Doom with a super armor get-off-me assist. Is there anyone else y’all can think of that can operate basically as a two-man team? I’m not that impressed with Hsien-Ko as a character outside that assist set up and I feel like I’m coming in with one less character.

Dude, you can use her on second. You get doom drones which = Any combo into Sphere Flame xx Rimoukon > tag in a character or keep LeiLei

Now you either have:
LeiLei with Missiles and Drones
Doom with Inv SenpuBu and Drones
or
Sentinel with Missiles and Inv SenpuBu

3 really strong teams, if you ask me. and you have a character up in the air after Sphere Flame coming down into a mix-up.

I’ve been messing around with Magneto-LeiLei-Dante using a similar strategy, except I don’t even try to play her, I just use her assist :frowning:
