If they really go with 3D models I’m going to be disappointed. I’d prefer HD 2D sprites like in BlazBlue.

This is EXACTLY what I want but I can assure you Capcom has given up on making any new 2-d sprites. The American dollar is really dominant in the industry right now so they’re not even considering making it hand-drawn…MVC3 will probably make more money in the US anyway so I’m pretty sure they are going 3-D fortunately or unfortunately–depending on your viewpoint. I think hand-drawn sprites would’ve been better.

i want 2d as well, BB style but i assume its going to be more like tvc. That way they can reuse a bunch of capcom characters and add at the same time. Also i assume its much easier to create and animate characters with that method

I assume it would take a good while. Based on everything leaked so far, though–this game has been in development in secret for a good while now.
Btw, I’m not knowledgeable in engines and stuff–so is Tatsunoko an example of a 2D game with Street Fighter 4 elements? Just trying to see what a mix of 2D and Street Fighter 4 actually means.

Acording to eventhubs the game is in 2d.
The game is on a 2-D PLANE…that doesn’t equate to aesthetics. More likely it will be 3-D models on a 2-D plane. Capcom doesn’t care about hand drawn sprites anymore, unfortunately.
Just for reference, SNK has stated that it took about a year’s worth of work (probably in terms of manhours) per character for their sprites for KoFXII.
2D at this point more than likely refers to gameplay.
Hell yeah, we need the return of POWER STONE characters.
