I will gladly say that mummy has probably never won a major here in the states. He’s probably placed pretty high @ regionals though in some areas. Just because he doesn’t win tournaments means he sucks. There are very few people to ever play this character decently so the knowledge is extremely limited and has to be figured out by handful of people. Where as magneto\storm got looked @ by 99% of players to ever play the game.
However its not that anakaris sucks, he’s actually extremely good. The fact is that many top players would rather take easier options to formulate a win. Anakaris takes a lot of work and the people who play him don’t play hybrid team variations. If you see someone running mummy, 9\10 times it will be on a low tier team. Then people assume he sucks because they don’t see him win. Most people don’t understand the team chemistry concept of marvel so they don’t realize that mummy isn’t maximizing his full potential.
there are only a few mummy players and those guys beat top tier teams on the regular.

maybe in chicago\IL area since thats the heart of mummy currently and viscant played mummy pretty hard back in the day iirc and he placed pretty high a few times. maybe one of those times it was with mummy?
there was a player called gabe a few years back that was RETARDED with mummy, peep him out on zachd if you want to see top tiers lose.

I still think it’s way too early for real prospects of an MvC3 here, although it’s certainly on the shortlist of potential future Capcom fighting endeavors given the sales performance of MvC2. Probably not gonna see it before Ono’s Darkstalkers baby, though, once Capcom has had more time to crunch numbers on Super 4 and paint a more complete picture for themselves of just how much of a hot streak they’re really on.
MvC3…assuming it does happen, I can only hope that it doesn’t water the Versus formula down quite as much as TvC did. Yes, TvC has some fun combos and it is certainly a coherent game, nothing resembling an AWFUL game, but it’s hard not to be underwhelmed by how mechanically sedate it is compared to Marvel. What was most frustrating about learning Marvel was always what was most beautiful about it, the fact that between assists, screen-filling projectile patterns, and blazing movement speed, 75% of the screen could become an attack hitbox in the blink of an eye. Most of its expansive roster got sidelined for utilitarian concerns, yes, but for those teams with real synergy, a staggering diversity of playstyles akin to characters in themselves came into being. Playing Team Z versus MSP versus Clockwork versus good old Team Scrub had a tactile difference just as apparent as the difference between Sagat and Zangief or Dhalsim and Blanka in a Street Fighter game. If MvC3 happens, they need to resurrect at least the majority of that craziness.

I really don’t want another marvel vs game before another company gets to challenge them. What happens to tvc2 now does the wii just get left out of sf4 and another vs game?
I really wonder if this could work out, MvC2 was such a lovely mistake after all. Either way I’ll be jumping in blindly.

@ Mummy hate, just played Vidness the other day and he can get it in pretty good with him. Rolled me once.
If this really happens, I just want the damn costumes to get updated (Marvel side). Especially the freakin’ X-Men. I believe this is reasonable since IF it happens 3D is the best (easiest way) bet. I mean, if we get classic sprite-based MvC3, I’m gonna laugh my ass off not being to figure out how cheap or insanely rich Capcom is.
And give me Zero, there’s no excuse now.
This could backfire if they put someone like Cyclops in Frank Quitely’s throw Xs on everything design along with Gambit syndrome of throwing a jacket/coat over a shitty costume.
Also, replace Bone Wolverine with Daken or X-23. I would prefer Daken.
