Make sure you let go of the stick before doing the super. Holding onto the stick before doing the super will cause inputs to save. Since the OTG move ends in a forward direction it probably saves that input when u do rage trigger and ends up giving you weapon x prime.
Ok…so I was gonna post this in the team thread but people post here more so here goes. WARNING: This is one of my long rants again.
Basically after seeing how little X23 has developed and how I originally wanted to pick her when the game first came out I decided I’m picking her up. Fuck it. If I already figured out some stuff with her that other people aren’t doing I’m sure I could make something out of her and when more good players pick her up I’m sure her potential will really be tapped. It is kinda tricky picking good assists for her since it’s pretty much a necessity to have one assist that augments her offense and another assist that clears a path for her to get in.
It was funny enough that I realized that with the team I was using now two of the characters pretty much can serve that purpose already. Was using Wesker/Doom/Chun but I think Chun is random and she doesn’t really fit my play style outside of her execution. She rushes down but she doesn’t have enough tricks or tools from a range like the characters I’m used to playing. She’s also pretty much reliant on like one move for her success because it’s pretty much broke (lightning legs) but nothing else about her really is that good IMO. You just rush down and hope people run into a move with broke priority that sets up combos and if they lame you out you dont have much.
With that I figured X23 defintely fits my play style more being that she has a lot of similar options that Chun Li has as far as a wall jump, generally strong air options, strong wave dash and heavy frame advantage on a lot of her tools. Chun Li for me is like X23 but without a lot of the extra tricks in her arsenal and not really capable of much more damage (and had me just putting her in the back to make her a broke XF character).
Long story short (well…not really LOL) I decided to change my team to X23/Wesker/Doom. I will probably kinda miss having Doom second because I love how versatile he is on offense and defense and killing people with 1.3 million damage XF level 2 sphere flame combos is cool but…I think this team overall gives me more potential. Since X23 is reliant on assists any ways I figure since both of my characters have 2 of the best assists in the game I might as well just stack them on her and see what it could possibly result in. Doom’s beam assist is the most durable beam assist in the game and easily sets up launch combos on hit and will work well with her M mirage feint to create safe 50/50 crosses. This will of course also double as allowing her stronger methods to get in by riding under high attacks or projectiles with a wave dash under the cover of the beam or having his beam counteract a lower projectile or attack while sailing over with her M talon attack and coming down and getting in.
Once I get in barring the setup and vulnerability issues of her H mirage feint I could probably set this up with Wesker’s OTG assist to create easy mode unblockables. He has the fastest OTG assist in the game which allows him to create pretty much braindead unblockables with Chun and with the right approach could probably get something similar going with X23. I mean if 10 stars can tear through people with his basic almost assistless x23 that doesn’t use any feint cancels or anything I’m sure I could put some stuff together with all of that stuff plus a good OTG assist.
The other big reason why I chose this team is because it’s a “New Age of Mahvel 3” team. What I mean by that basically is when the game really gets going whoever you have as your first character will automatically have low health. X23 and Magneto they both have low health but if they’re fighting against a Wesker, Skrull or Doom they’re at like a 200 or 300k health deficit starting at round 1 fight correct? NOPE. Everybody basically has the same health as X23 when the round starts now. I learned this the hard way when I put Wesker up first against my friend’s DHC reset whore team of Magneto/Zero/Doom or Sent. I felt comfortable having a uber high tier character on point starting backed up with beam assist which is pretty much all Wesker needs to be a complete character with high health. Then of course he busts out the cheap ass DHC combo into Zero Genei Jin off of ANY throw or any landed c.L and I just go home. I dont get to survive, I dont have any health left, I’m just…fucking…dead. 1.1 million health Wesker…DEAD. All because Magneto touched me and gained a meter.
First thing I was thinking to myself was…“this is fucking bull ass shit, I got more health than Sent and I can’t even fucking take a combo…what’s the point of having high health blah blah blah”. Losing the highest health character I had on my team to one touch was the biggest reality call in this game I probably could have ever gotten in the first couple months of the game. I just realized the game is totally different now because of DHC reset. There’s no point in loading a character with big health at the start of the fight when other low health characters can do huge damage, DHC reset combo into another characters and then just fucking kill you. If the game is just going to turn into “whoever gets hit first loses their first character” I might as well just fucking die with a low health character because 1.1 mil health doesn’t make a difference when u die any way. Oh and if he drops the combo towards the end I still have about like 100k left. Cuz you know that helps.
Anytime someone says “this character has low health” I’m like…“are u fucking kidding me? everybody has low health”. Which is why I figured it would be great to have X23 on my team. She has low health so I can just put her first and turn her into a death touch character. If my first character is going to die or be left with about 100k on the first touch of the game I might as well just pick a low health character that can kill just as quickly and then get the advantage of DHCing into a character with high health after. I’m gonna die either way and I’ve always played a style of “kill or be killed” in every fighting game I play so it would work perfect for me. I always want either me or my opponent to die but with the way I had my team set up before I was the only one that could die. Now they can die too (even though I can still die LOL).
Plus on top of all of that if he burns 2 meters to kill my X23 that technically puts him at a no meter deficit afterwards while I have meter with Wesker backed up with Doom beam assist. The only assist Wesker ever needs is a Doom beam assist and since he’ll have zero meter after I dont have to worry about DHC Reset of Doom combos. Which means he’ll probably resort to a strategy of of just trying to reset me after a combo because I’m not sure if Magneto can kill X23 start of round on one combo without burning meter with the DHC glitch. She’ll probably lose like 500 of her 800k but that’s about it. If he wants to outright kill me with the DHC glitch because he finds my X23 that scary (which is something I’ll have to work on) then that’s fine cuz Wesker is coming in buff as fuck not having to deal with bullshit glitch and just fights against a meterless Zero while my Wesker probably has almost 2 meters. Then I can go back to actually playing a matchup for once which is playing a 1.1 mil health mobile tank vs. 800k high priority but dies in a combo and one throw mix up Zero.
Overall I think X23 really has the options to be a strong character in the future it’s just she’s a character that you really have to try and put things together. You can’t just swing the claws like Wolverine with tatsu assist and expect shit to happen. It takes a lot of understanding how to make her advantageous through the feints and using her dive moves in crafty ways to stay advantageous and use the assists to augment her offense. With the DHC reset glitch I can pretty much turn her into a death touch character against most characters. Especially other characters with low health like Magneto it will be super easy to touch him one time and just kill him. I would only be doing like 500k to him before then he just combo videos my Wesker with Mag, DHC’s into Zero and kills me and Magneto recharges his health back to 80 percent while my Wesker is dead. Hell nah. No more of that shit.
I’ll definitely have to put all of X23’s tools together quickly so I can learn to defend myself against what Magneto is doing and land that one hit DHC reset to blow up his low health. Once he’s taken care of Wesker is coming in with big health against Zero who can’t start up a glitch.
