MvC3 Balance Tweaks Take 2: X Factor Harder

And now she’s even more broken.

Regular Phoenix is strong enough that increasing her life will make her ridiculous, even if you remove dark phoenix altogether.

But homing fireballs are kind of dumb. I’m more annoyed by Stalking Flare, though.

If they actually did that “nerf” (which is actually more of a buff) I would play Phoenix on point.

Thinking about what I saw from the 2 majors and from my playing experience, 2 things need to happen to X-factor.

  1. X-factor should only be available when 1 person is left on a team. Steamrolling the first 5 seconds of a match is just too much. I know this is Marvel, but the way it is now is over the top.

  2. Lv. 3 X-factor needs some tone-down.

Ugh, not to take the piss out of this thread, but when did this kinda stuff start happening anyway? Whatever happened to taking the game as is and learning from there. Anyone else miss the days before ‘balancing’ patches were the go-to cry of the community? For all intents and purposes isn’t this the same thing as the Smash peeps? I know there are things I don’t like, but isn’t that part of the whole game? Putting in the effort to beat those matches instead of hoping someone will do it for you? As a FG player its unlikely anyone of you will stick to one particular game for the rest of your career or hobbiest lifetime so what zenith are you guys looking for anyway?

I’ll shut up if I’m the only one, but geez.

You know after watching CEO, I think Wolverine needs bitch health like Zero and Ammy and what not. He’s doing too much work right now to have that much health… and he’s more of a “pixie” than half the pixie characters.

Also hitting a point character should make sentinel assist drones go away. That shit with wolverine is getting out of hand.

I was under the impression that most of the community was taking the same stance as Ultradavid, where you’d rather see the metagame develop for a fairly long time before anyone starts looking at making tweaks.

I’ve been saying that Wolverine needs less health since day fucking one. He’s too fast and his mix up is too strong with assist to need 950 health. Even when I doubted Wolverine being THAT GOOD it just puzzled me from day one why someone as fast as and damaging as Wolverine has 950 while someone who can’t even close the gap as quickly or do damage as easily has less health? Why does Chun Li have 850 k health when she’s fucking GARBAGE compared to Wolverine? Makes no damned sense. Why do Wolverine’s normals do so much damn damage also? If his combos are very basic and easy for the average player to do Rufus his ass down so they dont blow up people using characters that have to actually work for their combos.

I dont even care how good Wolverine is. It’s not about that. It’s about he’s fucking thoughtless to use and that shit needs to change because you dont need a brain to use him. If he didn’t do damage and didn’t have health then maybe people would think about what they’re doing for once with Wolverine. People think more about what they’re doing with Phoenix than Wolverine and that’s sad.

So… where did everyone who was saying blabla phoenix is a major liability, big risk, not consistent, etc go?

Most of Phoenix doing well at the tourney was again…getting lucky with her one scary strength which is 20 seconds of XF3 as a brainless character. The bigger problem now is Wolverine who can take out 2 characters with level 1 XF and having a completely safe moveset with assists. Basically making him as powerful as D.Phoenix from round 1 fight. Of course those two on the same team is a ridiculous issue.

The main issue with Phoenix in general is that you get to blow your XF early with some stupid ass point character to potentially kill off 2 characters. Which then once you build 5 meters it’s basically a 4 on 1 game. You can also save it for later where you can blow up a million characters. She just has broken odds and gives your team 2 comeback tools. Wolverine is broken because as soon as the game says fight if you get thrown or jabbed you lose 2 characters. No team gets 2 chances to end a fight in 10 seconds flat other than Wolverine/Wolverine’s Body Guard/Phoenix.

That’s been pretty much my thought process. Hence why most of my hypothetical suggestions have been towards making known bad characters better.

I completely agree with DevilJin… I just don’t understand why wolverine does the damage he does and has the safety he has. Berserker slash isn’t even that easy to punish without an assist, that shit should not START an offense though. IMO it shouldn’t be invincible, at all. Also, give him 800k health and it should be a much more manageable character.

His damage is just stupid though… I don’t know if it’d be over nerfing but I really dislike seeing him get one hit (or even a fucking air throw) x factor and kill off a character. Shit’s not right.

sf4 happened. remember that the ‘fighting game community’ is a completely different thing now than it was 2008 and prior.

Ok (more like a personal wishlist) First and Foremost Jill
Give her her MvC2 moveset. Problem solved.
No more super armor on normals. That’s lame*
*
Hulk
+speed boost, and a less goofy looking dash
±Gamma charge gets Super armor, but recovery time is increased.
-Gamma wave HC gets damage reduction.
Zero
+Given a 22A or B command that allows him to change secondary weapon from buster to boomerang shield or recoil rod(attack still comes from holding attack. Shield absorbs all non hyper combo projectiles. Releasing button throws incredibly slow projectile. Button used for attack can not be used again until Zero catches boomerang. Fully charged Recoil Rod will wall bounce. Fully charged recoil rod can be aimed down, and downward aimed recoil rod can OTG. Downward aimed Recoil Rod that doesn’t hit enemy is a super jump). Zero is the most interesting Capcom character. He deserves to be the best char.
Sentinel
-Loses the ability to air guard after he takes flight
+lasers do more damage
Magneto
-Disruptor starts slower and is less durable
+Air dash is faster
Phoenix
-Dark Phoenix transformation no longer pushes opponent back. If she has to start blocking, she has to start blocking.**
Hagar
-Lariat only hits once, and knocks opponent up and away
+speed boost
+Violent Axe goes through projectiles
+air 2M is given more hitboxes.

make magneto’s air dash faster?

erm

This is not a Wolverine issue (not entirely at least). This is an XF issue. Most any point characters can body 1mil- chars in a combo with one meter and Lv. 1 XF. Wolvie just happens to be the best at it since he is likely to get the first hit with his 3f jabs and such. What happens if you take Lv 1 XF away? Wolvie can’t body anyone the first 5 sec of a match, especially not off a grab. He’ll deal his 5-700K and be done.

The biggest issue is Wolverine’s power ratio allows him to kill you off with level 1 XF at such a rapid rate that he has enough time to kill off your second character easily if he lands an incoming character mix up. Very few characters can kill you with level 1 XF as fast as Wolverine.

^Thus further adding to the argument that Lv 1 X-factor is the problem. If you just nerf Wolvie, people will turn to Mag for Lv.1 XF shenanigans. If not him then Ammy. If not Ammy then just about any other character that can kill off an XF combo from a grab or a jab or anything the first second of the match.

Speaking of grabs, can we just make everyone grab immune for like the first 30f after the match start? It’s a little dumb being able to mash grab up in someone’s face like that.

Wait… Ammy is like… one of the few characters who can’t even get a kill off level 1 x factor lol.

I’d be in favor of a no assist / no grab limit at the start of a match. I saw air throw > x factor > kill WAY too much at CEO in the first 5 seconds. That is not a mistake worth losing a character for.

^I’m pretty sure I saw like 4 fights where Ammy XF the first sec of a match to finish off a Wolvie. After that the Ammy used slowdown on the next guy w/ just a little bit of XF time left.

The rest I agree 100%. But I’m more inclined to say a 3 sec cap than a 5 sec cap.
