MvC3 Akuma / Gouki General Discussion Thread

Uhh… it’s clearly Ken’s. Shoryureppa? Remember that?

If Akuma has decent health at all, there’s gonna be like no point to using Ryu. I love that he has his Demon flip, and can combo off its extensions!

Judging from his damage and combo ability, it looks pretty safe to say he’ll have health like Zero.

Ryu looks to have better spacing/keepaway tools (Donkey Kick being a wallbounce, his j.C keeping him floaty like Cyke’s j.Roundhouse, aimable Shinkuu, Roflcopter Tatsu, Shoryu AAA looking real crispy) while Gouki’s more a straight rushdown (projectile shit as a means of covering rushdown, teleport and Demon Flip acting as ways to get in, mashable ground fireball Hyper = Legion)

Basically, Ryu is Cyclops and Akuma is Strider now.

SGS is sick now; Akuma has 3 bars = you can’t push buttons.

Its SGS, if the damage sucks there will be riots in the streets.

But anyway, how did they manage to make Akuma look so interesting?!

My browser settings @work do not allow videos.

Question: Is Akuma’s Hyper Fireball (Air and Ground) a beam just like Ryu’s, or are they mutlitple little fireballs like always? Also, he doesn’t have the multi-directional Fireball like Ryu does (ala Cyclops)… correct?

His ground version is multiple fireballs, the air version is a beam… which is the opposite of what it is in MvC2.

Grounded is multiple fireballs.

Air version is a beam at a 45 degree angle. No word on if it’s aimable.

Edit: beaten again

Why does every character that has any rushdown have to be the new Strider lately?

Considering it’s Ryu and Akuma, I doubt their mechanics are going to be as wildly different as Cyclops and Strider. We’ll see how good Akuma’s SRK is, but I don’t expect it to be much worse than Ryu’s if worse at all.

Also, teleports are also a keepaway tool. Donkey Kick being a wallbounce is more an offensive tool than a defensive one.

Lol whut!!?

If that’s the case, I wondered why Capcom didn’t give him his multiple Air Fireballs hyper? It would make it at least different from Ryu’s Fireball Beam. Plus it sorta makes Akuma’s version look weaker compared to Ryu’s, since it’s exactly like Ryu’s Fireball Beam, but minus the aim feature (so far).

I don’t find him that interesting at all. Doesn’t Ryu have a controllable hyper fireball too? I think Akuma’s ground fireball got nerfed. What if the other guy is across the screen? That thing looks like it spreads like a EX Gouken fireball on roids.

Akuma isn’t going to have decent health. He always had garbage health so I guess Ryu has that much. Overall I’m feeling very meh toward him. I was hoping for maybe a power up hyper to make him act a little different. Perhaps a “Shin Akuma” mode that grants him more speed/power, extra fireball shenanigans, cancel attacks into each other etc.

EDIT: Also can someone explain to me the whole kid laughing in the background? Is that a reference from a previous game?

Did you guys see the new gameplay videos on Famitsu? Akuma to Thor: “It’s always fun to kill a god.”

As much as it pains me to say it, SO BADASS.

Vids

Latest vids show Akuma does indeed also have an air multi-fireball super. Might also have a ground beam super.

These tags are cracking me up.

* akuma has vagina tax
* cry one thousand tears
* fool!
* girl you know it's true
* i want sausages
* lvl5 akumacopter plz
* oh look another shoto
* sagat is salty
* where the hell is ken

Akuma seems a little scary with his raging demon. It’s invincible!

Good lord… Shoryuken straight into an air combo. Old ones just punted them across the stage.

He seems to be able to switch between a multi-fireball and a beam. In the first gameplay video, Akuma shows off both for his air super. One as a beam, the other as multiple fireballs.

That’s pretty strange.

Haven’t seen any ground beam hyper yet.

Multi-fireball hyper might do more chip, juggle and cover a little more area too. Beam seems to be more practical for vulnerable opponents.

Beam/'Ballspam variants of the same hypers show how much love they’ve put into Akuma.

lol @ Akuma has vagina tax

Does it to Tron at about 0:33 seconds remaining in the second Famitsu vid.

Maybe the beam is aimable ala Ryu? I dunno, just throwing out ideas. They probably would’ve showed it being aimed in the trailer if it could.

He’s got the ground beam in the second famitsu gameplay vid. It also shows him doing tenma gou zanku in the air
