MvC3 Akuma / Gouki General Discussion Thread

Watch it again x2.

He’s got beam supers.

Akuma can get in much easier. His air fireballs rape the shit out of Ryu’s. So does his tatsu (and presumably his tatsu assist). He has more options all around, just like every other game.

That was in response to someone who said that he didn’t see Akuma’s ground barrage super.

Ryu’s Shinkuu is excelent but it ain’t no AHVB.

Oh, my bad. Curse you context.

I wonder what the implementations of the barrage supers will be. It’s not like the beams aren’t already pretty big.

It looks like barrage does more damage up close. That’s the way it is in MvC2 as well.

While we’re on the comparison kick, I would say it’s not a Hyper Optic Blast either. Cyke’s was cool because it was aimable initially and you could change the direction pretty fast. Ryu’s Shinkuu, on the other hand, takes forever to change direction after the initial aim. We’ve already seen several videos where a Ryu gets punished for aiming at an angle to hit someone, gets blocked, and then can’t change direction fast enough to reacquire target.

It’ll definitely still be a good asset. But I don’t think it’s gonna be enough to warrant Ryu over Akuma. That said, who knows? Keepaway Ryu with a bunch of meter to throw random safe, damaging nigh-instant Shinkuus at full screen does seem kinda stupid.

If you get caught with a Shinku and you get KFC Shinku > DHC’d, you and any assist you were caught with is probably dead. That aint too far from AHVB.

That’s a shitload of ifs you’ve got lined up there.

IF, you have XF, IF, you have someone to DHC into, IF you catch them when you’re standing on the ground. Cable didn’t have to worry about any of that.

Capcom gave over half the cast perfect DHC ability with beam supers. It’s more situational, but when you’re playing something like Deadpool/Dante/Ryu, where every character can do it whenever the fuck they want, it’s going to happen more often. All three characters can hitconfirm into their supers easily and Dante and Deadpool are arguably better characters than Cable in general. It’s like trading a downgraded AHVB for an upgraded everything else. You can’t just kill one character and be free from the threat of getting two thirds of your team taken out at any moment.

No one’s arguing that it can’t be done, but to say Ryu with 3 supers = Cable is beyond an outlandish overstatement because a lot of ifs have to line up to make it so. Do you understand now?

My point is it ain’t that far from AHVB.

I’m standin by it.

Then you’re wrong, and don’t understand reason.

Aiight.

I feel where your coming from though. AHVB was scary because he could kill you and an assist character if you slipped up.
Cable required a decent amount of meter for it.

Ryu with some meter as well could create that fear too, especially w/ X-Factor.

Still got a full month until official release. About four weeks for early leaks.

…I’m sorry, but is that av Victoria Justice? It’s been on my mind.

Yes it is her in my avatar. Join TEAM VICTORY! Thanks.

Ryu will still have a chance in MvC3. He’s still does reasonable damage with what combos he’s got so far, for one. Shinkuu Tatsu could save his ass, if the move is good enough.

And if anything, for differential reasons, Akuma will be more offensive, combo oriented and Ryu will be more defensive, zoning oriented. With some people saying Ryu will be useless now, do to Akuma, is just wrong.

Unless Hsien-Ko has an Ankle Slicer like assist (OTG’s and Hits low), I need X-23 in her place, sorry.

Though I agree, Victoria Justice puts Selena Gomez under the table.

And I told everyone Akuma could look viable without anything new. No one believed me.
