Yeah that’ll work against the air H mashing Zero’s but a good one will cancel into air command dash or air lightning to get out of that XF trick. XF guard cancel works against Wolvie because once he commits to the dive that’s it…he’s dead. Zero on the other hand cancel his air normals into command dash or lightning so you’re definitely playing with fire against anything but scub Zeros. Which is fine cuz every Zero online I’m sure is just running scub H shit.
Zero can easily kill Wesker in one combo so Wesker’s health isn’t really a problem. He doesn’t have to worry about resetting Wesker or turning on XF like other characters.
Johnny was definitely on top of shit in the older Guilty Gear games but they started nerfing him towards AC.
i’ve seen a lot of dante/haggar/x teams fall short when dante is out. if you have phoenix there haggar is just fodder unless you land a lucky pipe…does anybody have another good anchor solution for this team?
Yeah I dont think Dante/Haggar is particularly awesome unless you have Phoenix. Phoenix is that extra insurance where Haggar can just soak up damage and maybe pick off a random hit and build up some extra meter after Dante most likely has built an exorbitant amount of meter already. Dante really does most of the work on the team since Dante + Haggar is one of the toughest things to land clean hits on in the damned game. Dante is already tough as nails to land clean hits on and then plus Haggar, he’s going to be building meter unless you make some godly reads.
If you dont have Phoenix on a Dante Haggar team I would suggest either Akuma or Wesker. Someone that’s pretty self sufficient with XF and improves Dante’s offense. Dante can turn on Devil Trigger if he needs help in a firefight.
So you want your tier list based on what characters are represented most, player skill, and who top players use most and a little bit of actual character ability. Ok then…
And back with my SC4 examples, Astaroth was winning tourneys at the beginning of SC4 life in USA.
Is Astaroth Top Tier? No, far from it. He is just easy to use like Mitsurugi. It took time for good Kilik players, Hilde players and Amy players to show and dominate the tourney scene when it was active in the USA.
Also, notice how in the USA there is almost no good Setsukas at all whereas they are much more frequent in Asia and Europe in tourneys.
That’s all it is. USA will go with good herp derp characters whenever possible with few exceptions.
So no, tourney results ARE NOT the be all end all indicators of tiers, just popularity.
1.1 mil, 1 assist, no xfactor, starts with 0 meter. I have linked this in this thread multiple times already. It actually could have done more damage if I went into a 2nd lightning loop instead of Rekkoha. It’s actually meter-positive too.
Gotta do a bunch of hits though. Which is good for me since I got Phoenix in the back.
I Loved Johnny in GGX and GGXX. He owned the mid range and a counter hit standing S, Forward HS, and Down HS meant death or a combo into Mist Finer unblockable. Bitchin throw game too.

Even if that’s the case charged buster shot still mostly takes care of someone thinking about guard cancelling Zero’s j.H. Plus he can use any of his other normals to bait it. It’s definitely a viable strategy but not as go to as the guard cancel vs. wolvie dive.
Actually I just found out the combo that does the 1.05 requires 2 assists but…Zero’s always in front any way so that’s not really a problem. Should have the vid up in some minutes.

Arthur has two and one of the very best assists overall in Enhanced Torches and Daggers and is a monster in XF3 and he is the worst in the game and Hsien-Ko has a very good assist of her own as well in Hyper Armor.
Chun has Legs assist. Why is she Lower Mid instead of Low Tier as these two?
If that’s not enough damage…spend one more meter. Either rekouha or just keep lightning looping. Even if he drops it during the lighting loop part they’re in the corner and you keep taking free chip that you can’t push guard out of that will most likely kill you any way. :shake:

Hmm that part before the lightning loop did a lot more than usual, I wonder why? Maybe the starter / choice of normals? How often does he land this particular combo in a match / HONESTLY how many tries did it take to get it on camera?
Well the only thing that was hard about it was Captain America’s wonky hit box like some of the other bigger characters. He like regularly practices doing it in training mode against smaller characters that have their own hit box issues with it which doesn’t matter because they usually die before or in the middle of the loop any way.
Like I said…I play against my brother with Chris who has 1.1 million health. If he he hits me he spends 2 meters and Chris is gone ON THE REGULAR. I wouldn’t complain about this shit if he wasn’t rather consistent with it. My main is Dante so I dont even usually get to the lightning loop part that he might drop. Unless he drops the assist relaunch part Dante is dead as a doornail. He used the most execution heavy character in Melty Blood and regularly got combos off so this shit is a breeze for him. If I took any stray damage that forced me to take more than 50k damage, only one meter will kill Chris. I could zone him out all day with Chris and he would be down to nothing on health. One random command dash zip in j.H…even if Chris has almost all of his live I just check my text messages cuz I know he’s gone.
Even if he does drop it…that’s kind of a good thing because if he drops it during the lightning loop you’re forced to take chip damage that will most likely kill you off any way and the lightning locks them in place where you can run up and set up another mix up with an assist.
Fuck Zero. His combos actually require work…but you can’t even poke this guy and he can kill most of the cast with one meter and the rest with 2. Fuck him. LOL. He deserves every bit of that 800k health. At least MVC2 Magneto had to reset you. Good lawd. Makes me wanna go online so I can fight Zeros that dont kill you in one combo. Those days were nice.
I’ll record some vids of us playing so you can see how consistently he does this. It’s not like it really matters if he drops it against my team any ways since 2 of my characters have no more than 900k health and it’s Zero…he gets to do whatever he wants. Not like you’re gonna poke him. I poke him any way but that shit is mad gambling.
i never use j.H before airplay because it knocks them too far backwards so the airplay will occasionally whiff. i figure the main reason people use the J.H instead of J. M is because it gives you the right spacing to follow up with launcher into gun loops. i was never able to pull those off consistently anyhow so i just go with J.M>airplay>j.H, St. H >down shots> prop shredder etc etc.
Buster from J.H is a link. You need to get back to neutral after a J.H to release buster. You can’t do anything about someone who decides to XF guard cancel Rhino Charge a J.H. When you do a J.H with Zero, you’re wide open to XF guard cancel same as Wolverine divekick. Main difference is doing it on J.H is unsafe because of the random number of hits which might tag you while tryin to punish. If you XF and do a Rhino Charge though, there’s nothing Zero can do except hope you cancelled on the last hit of J.H or hope he lands before the next hit comes out.
Also cool combo but in practice, you’ll need a Rekkoha to kill >1m characters. Pretty cool considering it’s still meter positive.
