MvC2 today

naah, I actually find it easier to learn when playing Mags players, because you are gettign used to hi speed fighting and quik thinking. It will also allow you to leanr to block maybe if you c that ur primary problem is defense (like me). I learned my low tier team playing hi tier teams, and now my low tier team at least gives a very good Mags/Storm/Sent player a hard time.
Low tier vs Low tier teams, its a little slower to learn IMO

Hey RedSilverAnakris, I actually played you and your friend yesterday at the Cove. I was the guy using Ironman/Cyclops/DoctorDoom. I just wanted to say good matches. It’s nice to see there’s actually some decent comp in Calgary which is a huge change from where I’m from. Small world I guess.

Anyway, I think another problem with that arcade is both the price and the fact that the sticks imo are pretty sketchy. I see no incentive in playing a busted game in a dark smelly room at 1$ a pop when I can do so in the comfort of my house for free on working sticks and on a nicer screen. Sure it’s nice for you guys in between classes just to go relax, but for us older farts who are done university and only go there for a bit of competition, you have to ask yourself if it’s really worth it. I certainly don’t go there for the atmosphere.

Now back to the matter at hand, there’s no question that Magneto does require lots of time and manual dexterity to play well. However, when I lose to him I can’t help but feel that I was out-randomed rather than outplayed. I’m by no means good at the game, but when I lose to a decent mags it just seems like he triangle jumps ad nauseum until he lands a hit and then I’m basically dead. And once you’re in the corner it’s basically all over. I know there are ways around it, but I’m sure you’ll agree it’s definitely not a good way to introduce a new player to the game.

You should post in the Calgary thread in the world matchmaking section. BestKindBoxer and I are having people up this weekend and anyone is welcome to come for some friendly matches. You might have to bring your own DC for Marvel though as my last 2 died on me.

Tron does NOT suck if you know how to use her. I seen plenty of OCV’s with her.

Problem is when the assist usually gets on point it’s usually when the other two have been killed off, so the assist character is all alone. Even if you manage to snap in commando, if he has storm and sent backing him up it’s not as easy as it seems to kill him off.

With a covering assist, tron on point is pretty potent, if you manage to learn some tigerknee drills and some good throw -> corner combos tron is not that bad.

pushblocks/assists. very easy:wgrin:
anyway, people are afraid of speed… y? i havent the slightest. i play up at my college(bring in my ps2) and just play. i use Mag/Psy/Hayato. mags takes hella time to master, but the fruit of one’s labor is exqusite, especially for me cuz i’m a combo person. I’m still a beginner mag, but i’ve played hayato since my first time playing Marvel, which was back around 03. I’ve practically mastered him,and i could stand up to a decent rushdown storm/mag, or even sent without a problem w/ hayato. most cables i play are jokes w/out assists, so i own.
lol, but i digress I think that people should stop bein lazy with their hi-tier lovin’ asses n’ just explore with different people, stop goin’ hi-tier(mag/sent/storm/cable). i think that as long as people listen to tiers and think that they’ll be good w/ them this game isnt going to get too competitive for awhile; such as my buddy ken34. he uses nothing but top tier (storm/sent/cable) but when he takes out mags, i’m never discouraged, cuz my rushdown with either psy OR hayato is enough to keep him on his toes

my point is, just stop and find at LEAST one person you like thats not hi- tier and put them on ya squad for a bit. i’m so sick of seeing the same old top tier teams

HI duck Strong. Where did you move from? Yea the ompetition is pretty ok four our arcade. I have only been playing the game for a year and half, and have been using my competitive low tier team since. I must admit to you, using Omega Red/Silver Samurai/Anakaris is NOT easy, they are by far the most difiult charaters to learn (other than Mags), and having no experience, it has been uphill. But I have made an ok name for myself over there for using low tier team to beat alot of people with their Mags teams.

I agree that our arcade’s sticks suk and the atmosphere does suck. But then again, everything in the Uni is a fuckign rip off, but u get used to it eventually. The competition more than pays off.

you seemed like you knew the basic mechanics and combos with your team. I tought your were pretty good, you gave the other guy a bit to gaurd at times. Hopefully will c u again maybe there?
