MvC2 TE Fight Stick $99.99 @ Gamestop

wow, the gf got me one for vday as a late present 3 days ago, i got pissed and said where the fuck is my stuck so she threw a tantrum and said fine got me the stick dropped it off and said are you happy now? i said mmmmm yessss =)

Well I saved her 50 bucks I guess…

She hates street fighter with a passion, and hearing fireballs in the background when calling me pisses her off, HA!

^LOL

You could still call and see if they still have it for sale.

WTF! I was going to get my second one tomorrow since its the next city over, just picked up my first one today…its already went up? I wonder if they will still let it go for 99?

Quick question regarding the button layout issue… I am seeing that R1,2 and L1,2 are in different columns (based on what I am reading on this thread). Is this the case of buttons being wired differently, or are the button labels on art work panels labeled differently? If so, I am not sure If I want to get this. Can someone confirm this? I didn’t even check this on my first MvC2 stick because I shipped it off as soon as I bought the stick for a dual wireless mod. I should’ve checked this before I bought it…

If the buttons are actually labeled differently, I will definitely not get this.

Yes, they’re wired differently, set up for MvC style play. Easy enough to change in config though, and if you really have to, you can always rewire the thing, takes ten minutes tops.

Picked one up last nite (Thurs) & asked employee why the website says $140 when it was $100 yesterday (Wed) on the website. He said the website usually gets updated 1-day ahead of the retail stores. I guess we’ll find out later today when someone calls & ask them to ring it up. On CAG, a guy in SoCal said it went back up to $140 already overthere.

What about the button labels? If I rewire to fix this, does the button labels on the art work match the buttons pressed? In others I’d I press r1 as labeled on the artwork panel, below the button, am I really pressing R1? Or will I be pressing L1 even the button is labeled R1?

If you rewire it to the layout of the SF TE’s, of course the button labels will be wrong…

Support Art and get plexi/art with correct labeling

I just realized how terrible my spelling is on my post. My apologies… posting this on an iphone (automatic spelling corrector).

Imitrex: Thanks for the clarification. I’ll be holding out on this one, and get the TE Round2 instead. On the original one with that I bought, I’ll just have to relabel it, or get a new art work.

Too bad it went up to $140. . .

Is that for online only or in retail store too? I was just there yesterday & had $99 price tag on it…I thought it was a universal drop, damn i should picked one up…

Well, on the website, the price is back up to $140. . .

It’s back up in store as well.

One of 2 scenarios will likely play out. Either they’ll eventually drop the price again to move the stock since fight sticks don’t usually fly off the shelves. OR they’ll keep the price high and hope for another stick rush when Super Street Fighter IV hits. I don’t know if we can expect another arcade stick/parts shortage again or not.

I doubt we’ll see a huge mass-production stick shortage this year.

There might be a blip for about a week but I have serious doubts that as many people will buy Super Street Fighter IV. Sales could be down significantly past 50% of the previous game. We’ll all find out around the same time in April if that figure is pessimistic or overly optimistic! I’m betting on significantly lower sales, at least 30% down from last year’s release. Fighting games are not like Madden where people will still buy the game even if only Madden’s headset has changed color on the box!

There also don’t appear to be as many new fighting game releases this year, period.

Custom parts installation-shortage – that’s a whole other ball of wax!

I think we’ll see higher sales for customizing joysticks again but I don’t really expect to see TE/Hori shortages like last year. Could also still be plenty of parts for newbies and oldbies wanting to do mods, too. No, I think last year’s mess is well behind us now.

I think most people who were going to get joysticks already got them. The people who collect more than 2 joysticks are a small part of the gaming crowd. Don’t know if even stick collectors will really rush out to buy a new Madcatz TE “S”. Maybe they’ll show up if the HRAP V SA ever gets officially released in the US.

GameStop is going to be sitting on that MVsC2 stock a while longer…

I guess some people thought they would lower the prices on the MC Marvel sticks even lower than they did???

Shoulda pounced on them when they were $99.99, guys! It’ll be a while yet before they go back down to even $99.99 again.

I seriously doubt they’ll sell brand-new TE sticks below $79.99 in-store. It’s not going to be like the Tekken Ultimate Collector’s Edition Set with the sticks going down to $29.99…

Agreed. With the huge rush last year, there is a large percentage of the fan base who already have sticks. I wouldn’t expect any type of same scenario with shortages as demand will be a LOT lower this year.

i hope so, so we can get some clearance sticks…$150 is too much for a manufactured stick…

With the premium Hori and MadCatz TE sticks averaging around $99 now, I don’t get the complaining about the upcoming R3/TE S sticks!

There’s still plenty of stock around for the Hori RAP 3 SA and the Mad Catz R1 and R2 sticks. Granted, 3 SA is PS3-only, but there is still plenty of R1 and R2 MC sticks left for both PS3 and XBox 360 starting at $129 and going down to $89 if you look. A quick Google or Search on the Forums will take you to weblinks where the sticks are on sale as well as the usual suspects (import shops, Frye’s, NewEgg, etc.).

i hope gamestop drops the price again

I just picked up an MvC TE stick at a Gamestop in Delaware this afternoon for $99. Maybe it’s back on sale again?

The computer rang it up at $140 but the stick on the box said $99… they honored the sticker.

I bought one last Thursday & it was obvious it was used (scratches & cable wasn’t wrapped). I don’t mind if it’s a return as long it’s in 100% working condition however the scratches were bothering me. When I exchanged it for another one today, the new receipt’s original price was $140 but the SA took off $40 to do the exchange legit. The only reason they charged you $99 is b/c the price was labeled incorrectly.
