alright you strider doomers out there. how do you keep cable with a storm (a) assist trapped. she keeps blowin the rocks away and cables like “ahha theres doom” and then doom has got a big freakin laser in his face. i dont seem to manage to teleport at the right time or fast enough. to strider is just stuck there eaten some cheese waiting and becoming impatient i might add. how does one correct this …
storm comes out where cable is, a long reaching normal will hit her if your already trying to trap cable, if she still has time to get rid of the typhoon then cancel that normal into the teleport. If neither of these are possible, don’t call doom
SD vs cable and storm should be easy for SD…maybe you’re just pulling the trap wrong…maybe
the way i do it, first i have strider in their face, THEN i call strider. otherwise, if you call when strider is just outta reach, ppl like cable and punish you hard, like you mentioned.
so get the orbs going, get strider in so he’s blocking, then quickly call do and teleport so he can’t call the assist.
or if you predict a retaliation, you could call doom as bait, and teleport, then send in your mass dogs and birds and hit them both.
dunno why, isn’t it sooooo sweet when strider calls legion? like he just stands there, puts in finger, and BOOM…so sweet
oh a question,
is it possible to combo the legion? like from an OTG combo or from an assist or something? or even better, some kinda combo into the ragnarok…
You can call out a regular bird or dog and then as it hits, cancel into Legion.
Edit: But Legion is somewhat useless because it’s a very thin super in that there’s not as much filling the screen as you would want plus it’s a very short super. Personally, they should lengthen it to the duration and amount of 2 Legions.
Ragnarok combos
Im pretty positive the only way to combo with the ragnarok is off an assist. Here are some of my favorites:
with Doom-B
low lk, low k, low fk+ call doom, ragnarok
(you can do the same with capcom-b assist as well. Does a nice chunk o damage - but can both can be rolled)
with Storm-A
lk+call storm,lp,lk,fp (storm assist hits), ragnarok
With Sentinel-Y
jump in FP+call Sent, lp,lk,lp,lk, (drones hit) ragnarok
Against sentinel with Sent-y assist
Start infinite (lk,lk,fp,fk on a standing sent),
(on your last repetetion, call sent as you do the first lk. after u land from the fk, immediately do the ragnarok)
If you’re lucky, sometimes you can cross the opponent up by jumping or teleporting and calling sent drones, then do the ragnarok as it hits them, although this is tricky, unreliable and mostly luck if u get it on a non-scrub player. Its best to DHC from an aircombo, like a storm lightning storm aircombo, or a doom photon array aircombo. Either of these usually gives u about 100pts of damage (~70%). AFter the ragnarok, 99% of all players roll. U cant hit them before they roll, but you can always teleport and start the trap. Just remember to orient your teleport correctly, since they will be rolling to the other side of you
can strider’s ragnarok been DHCed?
i don’t have access to arcade/console right now so i can’t test it…
but wouldn’t it be cool, think about it…
ragnarok XX doom’s upward stupid thingy XX hail…probably would kill them…and if it doesn’t because of scailing it should kill them!!!
Depending on how close you are to the edge of the screen, you can do cr.RH, throw a tiger xx Ragnarok.
a recent discovery i’ve made… may not necessarily be new… i was playin strider/storm/doom and i activated ouroborous… for some reason i tried to dhc into hailstorm… and it went thru!!! i tried doing it again but it didn’t work… anyone clarify this?? mebbe the DHC window is just really small… either way, i don’t see clockw0rk do this in any of his matches (if strider was gonna get punished for activating ouro, he could dhc sent in to take some of the dmg or sumtin)
Yes, you can DHC from orbs, but the window is small. You’re better off DHCing from Legion.

There’s alot of you have to consider when you decide whether to DHC out when Cable is about to blast you including how much meter Cable has, how much meter YOU have, how much health Cable has, how much health Strider has, who’s your next character to DHC into and how much health he has. And that’s already assuming Cable is definitely gonna blast you (assuming he’s not gonna mess up), which shouldn’t be happening in the first place. And you have to consider all this while the screen is still blue from activating Ouroboros.
So yeah. You can mess with it and see how it works for you, but it seems to me that often times DHCing out will not only waste 2 meter (unless whatever you DHC into will stop the AHVB), but you’ll possibly get that character killed and your Strider guardbroken and killed as well. Instead, you should focus more on avoiding that situation altogether…

now. I’m just picking up s/d trap. I’m still looking for a third person, but that is irrelivant right now. When I go and do the trap, what should I do when I DO land a hit on em? Stick w/ the standard 4 hit majic into launch, and standard air combo into the upward zoomy thing? or is there something flashy and damaging I could do instead?.. I know I can’t just continue the trap.(or can I??)
Normally I’ll do combo into launch+Doom, teleport to other side, animal->orbs.
If you’re near the corner, and you can do Doom’s infinite reliably, you can tag in Doom, launch, infinite, Photon Array, DHC back to Strider.
There’s alot of stuff possible. When i connect i like to wavedash till there near edge of screen, then when orbs end lk, mk, launch, teleport, airthrow + doom, (land) bird, orbs. Doesnt decent damage and sets them up for the trap perfectly after the bird.

I found the best way to just knock em around is a Guile aaa… forget about strider trying to telaport behind you… IMO… it’s never been really hard for me to punish that trap even when done well

S/D TRAP
I’ve played strider/doom for a while now , but i never was able 2 really execute the trap well , do u have 2 throw out the orbs special every time u wanna do the trap ? and do u have to be on one side and doom on the other ?..can anyone help me ?
