MVC2: Sentinel Tactics

Hi everybody !

This thread has the intention to be about Sentinel tactics. For starting this I will ask u a question.

What`s the best way Sentinel can open he fight against Magneto ?, What are the best tactics to keep away Magneto from u ? assuming u have the most common assist ( Cable B, Commando B,Cyclops B,Storm A, Magneto A).

This is just to start talking more about strategy and keeping a little bit away from " 99 hit combos" I think people dont like to speak about tactics and strategy and its an essential part of the game. :karate:

Sent Vs. Magnus

In the beginning, I always switch glitch, and instantly dash back.

I usually just fly really low against mags, and play really really defensively. I call capcom if I think he’s going to rush in. And if he just stays back, I keep on laser, fly, unfly, laser, until he tries to sj. towards me. Then I just stay in flight, and HP, call commando, unfly, repeat.

If Mags does get in, spamming lp or lk + commando usually works.

yah thats what i would say what i love to do against mag is bait his tri-jump and crossover cable call in or like low beam drones repeatedly just for battery than maybe cath a call in with the super i usually just batter mag hope it helps :slight_smile:

allright, as long as wee on tactics, i might as well ask some questions, first off, what are good tactics to use with flight mode and dooms anti air assist? also, i was reading some other thread, and i was reading about hadoken king posting someing about extended fast fly, and getting extra lk to come out. can someone please take some time to explaine this? :tup: thanks.

How do you use him?

I JUST unlocked him like a few hours on PS2 so I’d like to know how you use Sentinel and here’s a bunch of questions that popped out of my head.

  1. What position should he be in? (battery, user, anchor)
  2. What’s his strategy (keep away, rush w/e)
  3. What are his best assists and types of assists?
  4. What supers, specials and normals are good and what should be avoided? (like…I know qcf + PP sucks but qcf + KK is good)
  5. What else do you do with him (fly a lot? just guessing).

By “switch glitch” are u refering to switching in and holding down a lk or something so that it comes out quick as possible? Also if that is wut ur talking about how do u switch glitch with a backwards dash?

  1. Best for Point or i assume “user.” But can also be abused for his assist.
    2.Keep away/Rush down/Trap.
  2. Depending on the team u use but both Drones and RP are excellent assists.
  3. Just about everything of sent has a use except qcf PP and in the air qcf PP. Even they can be slipped in for dhc use.
  4. Yes abuse his flying. When u play the game more ull realize everything else sent can do. He is evil.

I see a lot of stomping going on where Sentinel is in flight mode and does lk, rh, wp rocket punch. So should you always stay low in the air so that you can get out of flight mode to prevent AHVBs?

not necessarily, when playing cable its prolly best to never be on the same level as him, be on top of him or under him …as far as avoiding ahvb, just make sure u have unfly mode so u can cancel flight and not worry about getting hit

i TK his air qcf+pp super to get around shit (eg. shockwave, magneto tri jumps) and then DHC… my friend thought he was cool once, and i tk super’d his shockwave and DHCd to lightening storm. my one pixel sentinel was safe and his 20% magneto was dead :slight_smile:

I saw that shit done by Sanford in one of the UCLA 2003 vids. Pretty cool I must say.

Would you happen to have that video? I lost it…

So did I. I deleted a lot of my vids on my old PC…
