Recently I discovered that Son Son’s hk throw activates fixed screen (screen lock). Since it is not possible for Son Son to solo combo directly after her hk throw, I used Thanos assist to maintain the fixed screen effect. The effect lasts as long as the attacking team continues to perform attacks. In some cases, the fixed screen continues even after a combo ends.

That is one example. I’m working on a lot more for the exhibition video. These are throws and supers that activate fixed screen (if you know more examples then let me know):
Son Son hk throw
Charlie aerial hp throw
Guile aerial hk throw
Cammy KBA (whiffed)
Tron King Kobun (whiffed)
Jin Blodia Vulcan
Jin Blodia Punch
Anakaris Super (I think it is the elemental super)
It’s important to note that some of those lock the screen vertically (screen stays locked on normal jump height) whereas some lock the screen horizontally (screen can’t shift left/right which creates a pseudo corner midscreen).
Example of Horizontal Screen Lock:

If there are any combos or characters that you would like to see in the offscreen exhibition video, tell me and I will give you credit for any combos you contribute. Ask questions about this if you have any.
That Sonson hk throw can actually do a couple of other weird things. Some assist actually go the opposite direction and many assist can be used like Dhalsim’s anti air assist and Magneto’s capture assist. If you use Magneto’s capture assist, when the character is caught, sonson can’t dash backward until you input a dash twice.
Both Wolverine’s Weapon X supers lock the screen similar to Charlie’s air throw.
Jin’s Saotome Crush locks all four sides.*
Hulk’s Gamma Crush locks top and bottom of the screen.*
Marrow’s Bone Burst locks top and bottom.*
Son-son’s Wall Run* locks all four sides, and her Monkey King super locks top and bottom.
I believe that Felicia’s ‘bunch of cat-girls’ super locks left and right.*
Commando’s Captain Stormlocks left and right.*
Gambit’s Cajun Explosion left and right.
Also, I believe certain moves, like Omega Red’s coil will cancel the screen locks. Not sure how functions, but Joo’s site (RIP) had a bunch of moves in a list with all the screen locks that had the ‘cancellation’ attribute. Other move’s with ‘cancellation’ are Blodia Punch. I marked the screen lock moves that also have cancellation with an asterix above.
The assists come out backwards because Son-son turns away from the opponent when she throws. A lot of throws actually do this, and you have delay the throw after the assist call slightly in order to compensate (if you want to Throw Into Assist).
A Few things come to mind -
Spirals Lvl 3
Magneto’s flying infinite - although I just realised you use an assist to get the Son Son off screen effect
Dhalsims flying infinite
Ruby Hearts Ball super …
that’s pretty much it.
EDIT - you could try Cammy’s tk cannon drill infinite with horizontal screen lock - although that shit is hard to do.
I tested Spirals Metamorphosis. Unfortunately it cannot be done offscreen because it can only activate once the character is not in hitstun. If the character is not in hitstun, the combo is over and the screen unlocks.
Magneto’s flight infinite may work offscreen. I discovered a method for setting up the offscreen combos so that an assist can be called. SonSon hk throw into assist, s hp, s hk *wait a split second, tag in the character you want to combo with. The screen will still be locked and the combo counter resets so an assist may be called.
I recorded Dhalsim’s flight Infinite offscreen. I also recorded Storm’s flight Infinite offscreen.
Ruby’s ball super would be awesome offscreen. Would you be willing to record her ball super loop offscreen for me? Please make sure there is no background music in training mode. That is important so I can choose one song to play throughout the full offscreen combo video.
Thanks!
P.S. - Would you please re-record your amazing Omega Red meterless 100% combo without background music?
Thanks for the valuable info. I knew about some of those, but definitely not all. Awhile ago I was fascinated by the idea of a video featuring combos that both lock and unlock the screen. Magnetro said that is not possible, since apparently a combo has to end in order to unlock the screen. What do you think?
Did you upload a video of the SonSon monkey king glitch? Where Chun-Li + Gief throw assist DHC to Amingo is used to put SonSon permanently in midair? If so, how difficult is the timing to set that up?
Can that setup be used to put other characters in midair?
I’m interested in working on a glitch compilation video. I would greatly appreciate if you send me info on setting up the glitches that you know. I can private message you my email address.
I’m very interested in glitches that make multiples of a character, slow the game down, turn characters upside down and invisible, make supers last a lot longer, and 2/3 characters onscreen (able to be controlled simultaneously). Thanks in advance.
I want to set up the glitch that allows characters to have 2 projectiles onscreen simultaneously. Magnetro told me there is only a 1 frame window to do it. Shuma CD + Magneto hyper grav assist.
OK - did some brief testing - tried O Red - when he does a coil and drains them the offscreen effect goes (and they seem to be at a height that won’t allow Lp link after df toss), so i don’t think its possible. Sorry. Might be cos’ the CPU counts it as a throw effect?
Tried the Ruby heart set up - couldn’t seem to get the 3rd hit ( Ball super, f, b, f - misses), the screen lock effect either effects their hit box or the ball redirect doesn’t pop them up like normal. I’ll work on it a bit more … this is where i wish i had a programmable stick.
I’ll see what i can do re the O Red vid - my capture card has audio issues (its the crappy EasyCAP one) so i’ll try and get no BGM, with button sounds.
Regarding the Omega Red offscreen throw, did you try using an Anti-Air assist after you tag in Omega Red and launch so you go for the coil throw in superjump height while the AAA hits the opponent? That may work.
The Ruby Heart ball super loop may be extremely difficult offscreen. It may have more to do with the fact that you can’t see the height of Ruby Heart in relation to the opponent.
The quirky thing about offscreen combos is that they are an incredibly fascinating concept, but nobody can ever truly SEE how impressive they actually are.
