There are rumors of a MvC2 remix release for the XBox 360, a remix with online play.
Marvel on XBox arcade + decent netcode = me never using an Xbox 360 for anything else ever again.
Just took a look at where I originally saw it, and it turns out that bounced me back to SRK, hehe. This is what I was talking about:
From a quick once-over of the posts, someone said it was in the Puzzle Fighter II data, but I figured it was SSFIITHDR because of the icon. My apologies if I got it mixed up.
Ohhhhhhh ok gotcha.
The lifespan is short if the game isn’t put on the PSN/XBL in the next year.
The game not easy to purchase. Just look at eBay.
The game is on old systems. And the best version of the game is Dreamcast. A system that is long dead and getting a stick is not easy for.
The game is also standard definition, and that means HDTV lag, so you need an SDTV, or an arcade cabinet to play the game on. I fucking hate HDTV manufacturers for HDTV lag.
If the game is put for console downloads and is input lag free, expect a renaissance, or at least much more longevity.
But if the game remains on old systems, with old hardware, expect the community to keep dwindling.
The Marvel license is the biggest obstacle unfortunately. The game strongly deserves a sequel, or at least a new release to make getting a copy of the game easier.
Aside from Virtua Fighter and Super Turbo, MvC2 is the third most played and studied fighting game I’m into.
I’ll give Capcom another year to obtain another license from Marvel and after that I’ll be moving onto SFIV/VF/ST completely.
Not trying to argue with you, but why would you want to play a legitimate copy of Marvel in this day and age? I have a japanese version of Marvel, because I like the original stage music (just not the character select) but most people don’t and use their burned, remixed versions. The NTSC DC version is not cheap, but its not super expensive either, around 30 ~ 40 bucks. The PS2 and Xbox versions are upwards of 100, but it doesn’t matter since the PS2 version sucks anyways. I haven’t played the Xbox version so I don’t know about that one. And ebay is not the best place to purchase video games. Go to Amazon and learn to import and you’ll never visit that stupid site again.
I agree the life and community of the game will dwindle if it stays the way it is, but I have to admit it doesn’t mind me at all. I’ve kept my DC going strong in my gamin life for seven years and onwards, and I just got a Sega Saturn! I have no intention of leaving my retro consoles anytime.
I got to play at TILT yesterday, after not being able to go there in about a year. I was finally able to do a few fast-fly combos with Sent and inf setups with IronMan. I was happy since I mostly practice on pad at home. But no one came to play me, so that’s probably the most I’ll get out of this game.
So you were playing against the CPU in arcade mode?
Yep. Pretty much just the seven stages and then leaving without fighting Abyss.
i will be in a nursing home one day with a box of depends on my left and a custom marvel edit on my right.
Game Is A Classic It Will Never Get Old Can’t Wait For Low Tier To Come Onto The Grand Stage. I Wont Stop Cant Stop Playing This Game.
If things stay the way there are, I think this game will slowly die. It’s just too hard for the casual gamer to gain access to and it’s not an easy game to learn, especially if there’s no competition locally. As the old players retire, there won’t be enough new players to replace them. The only thing that can save it in the long run IMO is if it gets released for the newer systems and is made available for online play.
If all dreamcasts die out people will just play it on their computer. Also if people can decrypt the character files then the characters’ defense and other minor stats can be fixed (without turning it into Mugen). Would be funny if the air dash is implemented as a global feature and you could just set a bit flag for each character. The ability to change the colors and music makes the game have so much more replay value and is so much more godlike than “I wanna take you for a riiiiiiiiiiiiidddde” all day.
The only games that came close to having potential at being godlike were Capcom vs SNK and Capcom Fighting All Stars (not Jam, not CFE), but they were lacking in various aspects.
I’m not going to deny it, Marvel is kind of dead and if tournaments drop it then it will die out. By die out I mean you might not hear about it, but people will find ways to play it.
Mahvel is the best game there is, the best game there was, and the best game there ever will be for a while.
thank god I live in NY, this game feels like it came out a month ago.
mahvel returns for this evo woooooo
Damn son. Lay off the mahvel for a hot minute. can’t stop scratchin’ getting all ashy.
The game is FREE
The system is EASY to find/buy they still have backstock on NEW DC’s
The sticks are EASY to find/EASY to buy if you have $/EASY to make if you dont have $
I dont think any real marvel players have been looking for a sequel, because the game is so open ended that new stuff is still being figured out.
We also still have an influx of new players to the game, which is really awesome.
So, I would have to disagree wholeheartedly.
hmm
The game being free only makes it accessible and you need to be competent enough to burn it. Not all DC’s play burned copies mind you. There’s only a few models that will actually do this and its steadily becoming harder to find. And with EVO constantly having problems with their dreamcasts, its only a matter of time before EVO gets rid of it due to lack of hardware. If EVO stops hosting it, its not to say that the game will die. In fact, it could very still live on but with one big major possibly doing away with it, the domino affect comes to mind. Time will tell though.
The game needs to re-released on a next gen console and have it be as accurate as the DC port. iirc, wasn’t evo switching to ps3’s from here on out? ps3’s can do sf4, hdr and t6 when it hits the market. Its the most economical choice for them.
Emulation won’t let Marvel die. Would be better if we can run it at Turbo speed without frame skip (Normal with speed increase).
Would be nice if there could just be an arcade perfect pc release, just like SF4. Computers are the future.
