First, regarding the escape (which is not even the focus on the discussion) you can ask around. The information is already there it’s been done before by other players and not just by me. It’s even doable online and it doesn’t take more than 10 minutes for a top tier player to figure out how to do the IM guard break or guard break + assist. If you can’t figure it out/don’t believe it what does it matter to you? You’re the one who plays iron man not the one who wants to avoid him. Since you think it’s 100% escapable then let it be.
Afterwards, I went to youtube and did a search based on upload date on “mvc2 iron man” and this is what turned up. It’s a good example about the whole iron man question. Afterall beats utilizes every trick in the book with IM plus more.

Now I’m going to say just observe only beats here, since rh does not know how to do AtG. In fact, we’ll turn this into a little drinking game and you tell me how sober you are at the end: So take a shot everytime…
- He tags. (Once again don’t count RH)
- He connects with iron man, but does not lead to infinite. (land a sj. lk or something and does not capitalize)
- Drops a combo leading to infinite. (s.hk into sj hp air dash, drop for example)
I hope you’re not really taking a shot everytime because you would be DEAD.
Overall, RH has a superior neutral game as compared to beats. In this set, beats struggles to win unless he lands an infinite. Once he lands an infinite (and usually because magneto carried him into it) he abuses every meter building trick and guard break setup to endorse the 300%. I would be impressed if it wasn’t for the fact that everytime that hit wasn’t landed his neutral game was complete ass. IMO RH wasted his time picking IM as an assist. I can understand that he likes him as a character and enjoys his playstyle, but IM ultimately is a cheese character more so than a consistent play character and RH is trying to play him without riding on the infinite.
RH blocked more than his fair share of mixups from a way overly aggressive beats. Had RH used a real AA assist instead like cyclops/capcom/psylocke the set would have easily gone the other way.
I’ve been figured it out years ago. I wanted to see if you actually KNEW how to do it including the timing on how to do it instead of preaching about it. That being said there is a way to guarantee you not getting out of it. I posted in response, because yes cyclops has some nice stoppers. So does storm, but the bitch still gets caught and so does sentinel. In no way shape or fashion do i think cyclops is better. Unless your cyclops somehow magically gains sentinel’s flight and can float like storm all in one character the mofo gotta come down sometime and he can still be touched. If you can fight an IM with Cyclops without getting touched once by all means that’s a skill scenario. But based on facts Iron Man is better.
