Tascar: I am too lazy to go into detail why one is better than the other. I’ll just give the biggest reason I can think of. Ironman’s one touch = death to whole team. I’ve experienced this first hand against good Ironman players. It is so annoying that you just don’t lose character for a mistake, but instead you lose the whole game. No character in MVC2 can do this without a reset / dhc / etc. No matter where you are on the screen, if a good Ironman player touches you, he can either a2g or combo into assist into an infinite. Then guard break => infinite. Repeat. Granted he has to land a hit, but top Ironman players have learned to get in on people. Sometimes you don’t have to get a hit with Ironman. If you are playing combofiend and you land a hit with mag, you can dhc into IM and that could lead to death to a team. I am not saying Cyclops is bad, but I just don’t think he’s better than Ironman.
But in the end, it is your opinion against mine and most likely neither of us is going to convince the other person.
This is exaggerated. It was the whole IM scare “touch you once you die” ala “magneto gets you once you die GG” which is totally false. There are very specific angles in air for IM to connect into a AtG. On another note, I remember (I think it was Sanford) who said all you have to do against IM with Sentinel is fly back which worked out amazingly well when I tried it.
Similarly on the ground you usually get hit into an infinite because you got hit by a s.hk. IM has poor mixup value and doesn’t land infinites by doing a trijump on you like Magneto.
IM has that scare factor because only the old school veterans knew how to deal with his neutral game. There’s a reason why IM got filtered out of high level play because he simply does not make the cut.
Furthermore, his guard break is escapable by some characters (even the magneto assist variant) enough that it can consistenly ruin IM’s game.
