The only thing that REALLY frustrates me about MvC2 online is the beginning of the match. In a lagless game, there’s pretty much 1 safe opener for every character, and 1 or 2 risky ones (more for Magneto).
But online, there is no way to guarantee that opener because of the god damn lag.

I have heard the same thing a lot of times. I’m not sure about it though cause there was one time where J360’s magneto c.lk, c.lk beat mine EVERY TIME for like 20 matches.

wow netplayers getting all nippy about a game that has technically died and against players that have moved on to other games.
oh and mashy generally means you press buttons and shit when it’s not really a good idea, but online helps you out. much like all those c.FK combos/random shockwaves you do (typical of netplay marvel/netplayers). i mean, you can go to the 1st vid and at around 6:16 and onwards you see many many examples of you mashing your ass off haha. mashing d.lk+psy…holding up and mashing lp+psy., mashing on shorts/lights with IM (made obvious, if not by hearing you mashing throughout the whole vid…just by seeing IM’s MK come out for example) etc. Tip: all those trijump FK, land, cr.FK actually aren’t that good at all. but online lets you get away with it.
love the fact that brett also wants to try to talk shit after dodging a MM from Phocuss. Protip: if you dodge a MM for no good reason (other than the fact that you barely won and would’ve most likely lost the next one), you don’t really get to talk shit. oh, and also for the other afore-mentioned reasons. yes you won previous MMs (barely winning the 3rd by whatever circumstances). that’s no reason to dodge another MM…and it’s especially no reason to try to talk shit while having dodged a MM.
but you guys are correct in that if phocuss doesn’t really play the game anymore, he prob shouldn’t say he’d beat a random in a mvc2 ft10 (especially on mashy netplay marvel) though I don’t know the full story.
TLDR: don’t get all happy that you can mash out some wins online with magneto ROFL. and also phocuss probably shouldn’t try to talk shit about randoms (if he is) if he doesn’t even play the game really anymore. oh, and don’t get all defensive if someone says you’re mashy. take it for what it is, and maybe analyze your gameplay. maybe ask for examples instead of bringing up laggy matches that have no bearing on actual criticisms about your game. discuss or disagree and that’s that.

I forgot who said it, but iirc they said it well when they said “once all the big names (yipes/wong/sanford/etc.) don’t play the game anymore or enter tournaments that are happening right in front of them, it’s dead” or it was something like that. XBL is considerably barren compared to before mvc3. I’m sure you still manage to get some decent games, but it’s technically dead. as far as tourneys/majors go, it’s dead. but of course you can always have fun casuals and side tourneys.

Funny how you like to talk trash about someone’s experience. If you’re a pro player or have longer experiences. You shouldn’t lose to a mash player (even if it’s online). Heck you wouldn’t even drop combo. However, base on the video (Phocus vs Primal). He was dropping combo. Yes, lag does exist if you have a shitty ass connection (most likely you have one shitty ass connection).
Yipes, Sanford, and other big names will play Marvel 2 if we decide to run a big tournament. But, it’s hard to get one because of location or it’s being held at a hotel’s room which makes it harder.
If you’re a smart player, you wouldn’t get caught by someone that has less experience. But, if you’re losing. It’s gonna tell you a lot.

PS. you’re delusional if you don’t think not playing a game anymore (especially under lag conditions) or netplay doesn’t affect the play. it’s only when 1 person’s skill is much greater than the others where some rust/lag (as long as either aren’t too too great) won’t affect who wins. but anything closer in regards to skill levels will see odd things.
the only people who think online doesn’t really affect anything would have to be mashy netplayers themselves. after playing you at FR and all the unsafe, rollable, and random shit you did on that laggy HDTV, I’d say that’s the case here.

Also, I wasn’t even talking about you defending Phocus’s skill. You made it seem like Primal has no idea what he’s doing. Yes, he was mashing. But, who was winning? Look at this way. If you’re good at a game. You wouldn’t even allowed someone who mash to keep winning. Does online make an advantage? Yes…However, how long did Primal kept the Rom going? He dropped it…How many combo/infinite did Phocus dropped? He dropped some too. Was lagged involve? No, the video indicated that it was running smooth. You’ll know someone is lagging when a character is teleporting and/or you have lag input delayed by 3-5ms or if the game keeps freezing time to time.
Offline makes it different. But, if you can’t beat a masher online. It tells you a lot.
Also, stop disrespecting other players that isn’t from U.S. You have no reason to put them down at all. You don’t know how they play and you will never know how they play.
Online marvel isn’t the same by any strech of the imagination… but in terms of the long running brett vs phocus topic… brett has beaten him everytime no matter online or off… that said I also have to say phocus shows extreme lack of knowledge, patience, and execution which are all things that translate to either form of marvel. Also phocus talks mad shit and acts like a complete ass from what I have seen. I do not respect his play either which way… watching vids of him getting wrecked by brett while is buddy aurther is in the back ground screaming for him to mash mando ever harder just really says it all.
People seems to support phocus based on the fact that they are either a.) his friend in real life OR b.) dislike brett
I have seen ZERO other examples of any other scenario coming into play. I am no romneto dick rider. I respect the fact that he is constantly posting new vids and constantly helping new players.
All that said… beats you are totally wrong about marvel 2 being a dead game. The reality is that it still has HUGE online support… and the offline scene is just waiting for the right venue to pop up. The game is still VASTLY better than any newer fighters and big namers would totally get hype for a big tourney if one actually happened. Look at how sb5 went… shit was GREAT and the most hype of any tourney in the last several years. There’s no reason why that can’t happen again… and repeatedly.
