I’ve seen quite a few threads regarding the differences between MVC2 on the DC and the next generation consoles (PS3 and 360) but I was wondering if there were any differences between the Arcade version of MVC2 and the DC version? I’ve heard people mention that the DC version was slightly faster, and the characters on the select screen are in different places etc. but were there other differences between the two versions? My curiosity stems from my recent purchase of a Naomi System for my candy cabinet with MVC2. Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone.
As far as I know the DC port is as close to arcade as you can find. For some reason to does have a few moves and at least 1 stage that cause dropped frames on the DC where they didn’t on the cab. You can look up the moves/stages where this might have an effect but obviously whatever slow down is experienced is pretty low… particularly compared to next gen versions and even more particularly (by far) compared to the horrible xbox/ps2 releases… it’s not many dropped frames and as far as I know all combos that work on arcade still work on DC.
It’s on both versions. (The teleport one) - The ghost one, I don’t know about.
The Sonic Blade glitch isn’t in the US version.
The only other differences appear at the character select screen, as you have a different order of them, and the assist types have that “recommended” thing.
If you do a combo that ends in an assist hit into the doll transformation, it combos every time. If you hit them after, they turn back to normal. If the second part is the start of a second assist combo into transformation, you can repeat this cycle indefinitely in the arcade. In the Dreamcast, this usually, but doesn’t always work. It randomly fails sometimes.
Idk, if its the stick or just me, but I feel the game is smoother on the arcade version. Even tho I don’t use HAPP sticks often, playing on an arcade feels a lot different than playing on DC and Next Gen. Am I the only one that feels that way?
