I bought one yesterday, I really enjoy using it, especially since I just upgraded from a SFIV SE stick.
But I noticed a sound that bothered me…
Every so often, I’ll hear a "crunch"ing sound. It’s not very loud, but I feels as if my joystick is getting stuck or snagged on something. Any thoughts on what this could be? Or how to fix it?
Okay, so I popped it open, broke down the joystick to the spring. I noticed a washer, that when I moved the joystick, began to circle with it. It’s covered with a lube (?) substance. I noticed this was on the PCB as well. I don’t want the washer to destroy my PCB, should I glue it down? I noticed it was the washer making my joystick, stick a bit.
If you search the forums, I am certain I once came across others who ran into this same problem with the JLF washer. I am not certain what purpose the washer actually serves, however, I suppose if I had the problem, I might try securing it down with a bit of automotive liquid gasket which will not hurt or damge electrical components unless you gob it up into the switches.
I suppose without knowing I have to wonder is it a “moving” washer that is causing the grinding/crunching problem or is it simply the washer itself?
