@“Rioting Soul” This game isn’t coming out till after Evo 2017 so odds are UMVC3 either gets one more year or 2017 is a No Marvel tourney until 2018 where MVCI will obviously be the new Marvel.
One thing that peeves me is that MvC3 style every single hit can lead into a big combo.
Is it too much to ask them to try and limit ways to confirm into big damage? Even in MvC2 Magneto couldn’t rom you from every hit and had to settle for little damage. In MvC1 you couldn’t catch infinites into ToDs from every hit. Making different confirms lead to different combo paths and therefore making different decisions would be much better. Tired of random light in air leads to half health or death.
That’s one of the consequences of a modern fighter with 3 v 3. Match time is important. Take out that and the insane X-factor power up and matches would have been considerably longer. That’s probably one of the reasons they’re going to 2 v 2.
Coming back from the dead to provide my initial thoughts on this game:
Love that it got revealed/confirmed, but hate that they revealed it so early in development. Now we’re likely going to need to keep our hype alive for a full year (and maybe more) before release. Oh well, at least we have UMVC3.
2v2 with no assists is honestly the best news I’ve heard about the game so far. This way Capcom can focus on giving all the characters a proper neutral and balance the game without fear of stupid broken assists controlling the meta (cough hiddenmissilespsybladebullshit cough)
The gameplay is looking very similar to TvC, which makes me happy. It definitely had the most balanced/fun engine of the vs games imo, and game balance is what I care about more than anything right now since I’m confident the roster will bring the hype all by itself.
The two additional characters might confirm this, but I’m thinking that X-Men/Deadpool/F4 characters will return. For those who aren’t comic nerds, those 90’s X-Men characters are all some people know about Marvel aside from the Avengers. If they’re appealing to a casual gaming crowd, might as well keep Magneto and Wolverine for the casual Marvel fan.
Infinity Stones are a good idea, but I’m confident this mechanic will be the hardest to get right. They have to make sure that the entire roster can make use of the gems without being broken, and there will likely be stones that no character will prefer due to synergy issues.
I’m not a big graphics guy, so I don’t really care that the Capcom characters don’t look that great right now. It would be nice if the models improved before release, however.
And to those comparing this game to SFxT…you all gave your ages away…
I wonder what other Megaman series-related character would get involved… I still happy enough with my nigga X as it is. He is the primary character who got me started on video games in general in the first place!
Glad to see I’m not the only one hype about what the intro could be. Even just the title reading gets me hype in this shit. Maybe this time the announcer will read out
“MARVEL VERSUS CAPCOM - INFINITE! INFINITE! Infinite! infinite! ᶦᶰᶠᶦᶰᶦᵗᵉ﹗”
