Why haven’t we had Quicksilver yet? Seems like a super speedster focused on the ground would be something cool to work with, yet he’s never seen the light of day
If you really want to understand the situation, some girls really want to be comic book readers but they kind of feel insulted because of the tons of fanservice for males comic books used to have.
They can’t identify that much with characters that for some reason (none other than fanservice to men) wear skin-revealing swimsuit in some cases where it doesn’t make sense.
Comic book industry wants to take advantage of the new market that female represent, so they’re redesigning some stuff to make it more female-friendly too.
This thing about costume redesigns should be examined case by case. I’m not in favor of removing sexy costumes when it’s not necessary. And it can also be really hypocritical some times.
But in this particular case of Carol Danvers… I think the new design makes way more sense than the previous one. It may be not a great design, but it’s still an improvement about the other one, when you take in count the background of the character.
What I would like them is to remove that scarf around her hips. Yeah, it’s a nod to her classic gimmick, but I find it stupid, impractical from every perspective, and I don’t think it fits great with her new design.
Short hair never bothered me, I’ve seen women rock some shorter or even bald looks. My family’s West African (I just live in Canada) so in years past, when my mom would be looking at fashion magazines, tv or stuff, I’d see some gorgeous women without luxurious locks. Plus I’ve met hot alternative girls through my time in university and walking around. I’m used to it.
I’m all-in for a new Street Fighter/Capcom versus game. If that’s not gonna happen then resurrect UMvC3 and add new content, characters, and balance changes for current gen consoles.
What do you guys think of Iron Galaxy potentially being the game’s developer? I think it’s cool to see an American studio develop a fighter for Capcom. I’m sure they’ll understand community concerns much better.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the past couple of years it’s that the people crying about this sort of thing don’t actually buy games or comics, they’re just virtue signalling. They don’t actually purchase these things even if they get their way. They’re only interested in spreading their agendas by infiltrating seemingly easy mediums and trying to destroy them.
The comics where Marvel pandered heavily to this new audience, as much as they possibly could, proved to be disastrous failures. Angela: Queen of Hel was cancelled for this reason, and so did She-Hulk’s new series. They’re not bringing in a new audience of female readers, they’re only alienating their current readers and dooming themselves. I don’t see why we should have to get shafted for the sake of these other people who don’t even buy these products.
As for the “initial roster” rumor, probably Marvel wants to do the same they’re doing with their current fighting games that is adding a new character every time and then when a new movie is released, like they added Luke Cage and Jessica Jones to the Fight for the Future when the Luke Cage show was released and then they added Doctor Strange for the movie.
That sounds like a great model considering the synergy between their media, and we can only hope it grants better continuity to the project for Capcom, not the game to be abandoned and sort of retired from the market a couple years after its release.
Yeah, that thing of the “extra lines” is designers current vice. 90’s designs suffered from 90s fashion, lots of pockets and such, but this decade everything is about those “extra lines”. People haven’t realized yet, but when they look back…
