While I have my pre-release picks, I’m just going to end up maining whoever I end up winning with the most. It’s just how it ends up with me and fighting games, most of the time, who I end up playing isn’t who I “like the most”. It’s why I don’t really get people who get too attached to one character because from experience, I rarely ever play a character I’m excited about before launch (and when I do, it’s because I end up excited for them because they seem to be top tier).
28 characters isn’t even that bad, but Capcom made some really stupid picks. Drop Firebrand, Nemesis, and Spencer for Amaterasu, Tron Bonne, and Viewtiful Joe, then replace Nova with Ghost Rider or Iron Fist and BOOM! The game got better already. I don’t even hate Firebrand or Nemesis as characters (Spencer and Nova can die in a fire though), but there simply isn’t enough space out of 28 characters for extra GnG/RE/GotG reps and fucking Spencer.
Fuck new characters, I just want more returning veterans from MVC2 and earlier. But that’s apparently not happening.

Also, Amaterasu may have been more difficult to implement in a game with 2P2K.

In SF5 we want more returning characters from SF3 and 2, and in MVCI we want more returning characters from MVC2 and earlier. We don’t want MVC3 characters since that game had some trash picks.

Capcom played it safe, and guess what, the majority of people who even buy this won’t be for the capcom side and that’s why it’s safe the fact that it’s mostly MCU characters invoked basically means it’s set to sell well, even as a bare bones like of shit. No, not necessarily. All evidence points to the fact that this game has a really uphill battle in front of it.
First of all it’s a fighting game, which already limits its appeal, since fighting games aren’t as easy to get into as, say, MOBAs or WRPGs. Also, games with all-star Marvel casts are typically free to play dealies, unless you’re talking about Ultimate Alliance which hasn’t had a new game in a long time.
Injustice 2 seems to be doing well, but that’s because they pulled out all the stops to make it so that casuals can enjoy it. Easy combos, easy controls, shitloads of single player content and fanservice. This game won’t have half the stuff at launch that Injustice 2 had. It’s clear they’re going with a half-assed release that largely consists of content from the previous game. Even when it’s “feature complete” it still won’t be as robust as IJ2. People are already responding with fury over this leaked list, so it’s already lost points with its followers. I can easily see it failing.

Spencer was annoying because of derp damage and YOLO Bionic Arm. But at least he had some unique stuff going for him with the grapples. Nova is a retarded Magneto with all the bad parts of Spencer.
