The marketing side of things is only true for the Marvel roster. Capcom didn’t use the game to gather interest in their other franchises. We didn’t get a new Ghost n Goblins, Gargoyle’s Quest, Mega Man Legends or Final Fight game out of MvC3.
While this infinite looked cool, no one could really reliably do more than 1-3 reps lol. Red Venom had a similar one that was actually manageable and looked even cooler though.
Venom has a relaunch infinite though and while tough it was more doable than that one too.
Its series tradition for Capcom to pick odd Marvel characters. Black heart, Sentinel, Shuma, Omega Red, War Machine (instead of Iron Man in MvC1), Marrow, Dormammu, Taskmaster, MODOK & Rocket (pre-movie of course). Those are all odd picks & for the most part they all became beloved characters in the series. I’m 100% sure Capcom will do it again.
I think Marvel would easily agree to Howard & Gwenpool too since those are characters who’ve had a big comics push over the past year. Best of both worlds.
Also, I’m betting we see Haggar over Gief again. Haggar performed better than Gief ever did in the Vs series, plus it opens up some spots for more unique SF characters.
I see a lot of people discussing Marvel’s inclusions but not too many people really discussing Capcom’s. You think we’ll see Megaman this time around?
I think they’ll keep Megaman in Smash and put Megaman X in this game.

Seriously though. MegaMan seems inevitable considering how controversial it was last time that he didn’t make the cut. Zero was very iconic in the fighting game community, so I could see him returning, and probably another MM character. Hopefully Roll or Tron Bonne.
Ryu, Chun and Akuma seem all but inevitable. I would love to see a zoning SF character like Fang or Dhalsim, but that seems less likely. Morrigan is inevitable along with a couple other Darkstalkers. Perhaps Q-Bee and Felecia.
Yes. Capcom’s being much nicer to Mega Man lately. The 1-6 collection, a lot of merch, a good comic & that cartoon. Plus, Mighty No 9 crashed and burned so Capcom is probably laughing at Inafune.
2017 is the 30th year anniversary of SF & MM so I’m expecting those two series to have the most presence.

Wasn’t there supposed to be zero tolerance against mutants and XMen characters? So how come Scarlet Witch is there on the list cause she was reason the Xmen story arc House of M happened and the whole Messiah Complex saga took place and also Bishop (One of my favorite Xmen characters) had to turn villain and betray Cable & Cyclops.
I don’t see Megaman happening. Capcom literally goes out of their way to troll about him and generally not enter him into games.
If we do get Megaman it’ll be homeless, flasher, pan handling megaman.
That game is amazing though, new things still being discovered all the time. I discovered a Chun-Li relaunch corner combo kind of recently myself.
She’s in the MCU, which is why you see her in the Avengers movies. They’ve also retconned her being Magneto’s daughter in the comics if my memory serves. I don’t think it’s been confirmed what she is nowadays. She and Quicksilver are shared property between them and FOX I think?
Supposedly Capcom is planning a bunch of things for the next Megaman Anniversary. So maybe there’ll be something special there. They couldn’t possibly punt that more than they did the SF anniversary or how Wizards of the Coast punted the MTG 25th.
