Marvel Super Heroes was a huge step in visual from COTA, It was aesthetics from screen transition, character select screen, screen portrait and sounds. They even add captain america torn knock out sprite.
Capcom learned they can half ass stuff and sell by name alone? What they learned with SFV is that if they half ass stuff, the game’s name will be stained, along with Capcom itself.
But yeah, MVCI is looking hella rushed, but I have faith they will hear the complaints and polish it.
That build is more likely an old build. It wasn’t even supposed to be shown to the public, that gameplay video was a leak. Look at how SFV looked in the first gameplay trailer:

That doesn’t help your case. SFV actually looked fun early on.
It happens to a small degree, but only Capcpom has created this level of hated and venom due to their own incompetence and greed.
Like someone else mentioned, I think Capcom has been about a quick buck with these VS games more often than not. I think Marvel 2 is great, but a part of that greatness is the absolute madness of the game created by the fact that Capcom pretty much just dumped every previous VS characters they ever made into one game, with a tiny sprinkle of new characters as garnish. I can’t recall any series with such a huge catalog of characters doing something like that before or since, other than maybe those DBZ PS2/3 games that I never really got into. Marvel 2 is beloved because what could easily be interpreted as a lazy cash grab turned out to be fun as hell.
I agree that Marvel won’t stand by and have something that they plan to promote across their brand properties (Comics are getting MVCI covers for example) be a complete pile of crap under their watch. Even if it releases as a piece of crap, Marvel will be breathing down Capcom’s necks to make it better, and I believe that Capcom can produce good work under those conditions. This game is apparently being heavily monitored on the west coast by Marvel, so the wailing of social media complaining will reach their ears quickly. I hope some of you complainers have your twitter tears ready. They might come in handy*.
*Handy as in motivate the developers to apply more of their ideas born of constructive feedback, not bending to every whim of the internet mob.
I know that the time lapse between that first build of SFV and the SFV’s launch is way bigger than the gap between the MVCI’s gameplay we saw and the launch date (even considering that we don’t know how old is that build). But in SFV’s case, what we saw was not only graphics and UI change, but also gameplay change, and that’s what probably takes more developing time.
I have nothing against the gameplay I saw until now, even because we can’t tell from the few minutes of gameplay if the mechanics and physics are actually good or not. I’m only expecting UI and graphical updates, and I think this is feasible even with the little time Capcom has.
Was looking some stuff on the official site. Captain Marvel’s hair looks downgraded from the first trailer. Maybe they are moving away from the realistic style because they will add a more “stylish” look to the game instead of this stale design we have right now? Maybe I’m just overthinking.
