Some musings on the Capcom side
[details=Spoiler]Since Marvel 1, weâve always had a few specific things even in UMvC3 and TvC:
-Ryu
-Chun
-Morrigan
-Big Body rival to Hulk (Zangief, Haggar, Alex in TvC despite no Hulk)
-Tiny Zoner (Megaman, Arthur)
-The Ninja (imo, Zero took this spot in TvC and vanilla MvC3, Strider had it before)
-The Throwback (Captain Commando, Tron, Saki)
So who would fit the bill in 4? Ryu/Chun/Morrigan are givens. Not sure if they want to do Haggar again, and Zangief is a bit of a toss up. Pretty sure theyâll take Mega Man over Arthur this time, especially so he can pair up in 2v2 with Zero and a Protoman assist. Throwbacks are kind of obscure by nature so thereâs not much value in guessing. On the Capcom USA website, we see the following series listed under âgamesâ:
-Ace Attorney
-Dead Rising
-Devil May Cry
-Dragonâs Dogma
-Mega Man
-Monster Hunter
-Resident Evil
-Street Fighter
I think, both internally and to the general public, these are the main IPs of modern Capcom, and we should expect at least one rep from each (possibly not Dragonâs Dogma as RPGs generally donât get much love in MvC). Phoenix Wright, Frank West, and Dante are shoe-ins on this alone. They could go plenty of directions with Resident Evil, but I would bank on getting Wesker (popular, big in MvC3) and one of Jill (MvC2 style) or Chris. Also, we can brainstorm some rivals for the Avengers that will most definitely be in:
-Captain America: Probably Ryu as theyâre both flagship characters
-Iron Man: I would say Morrigan because of MvC3, but I could see someone else being put against Iron Man to free up Morrigan
-Hulk: Insert grappler here
-Thor: An interesting one for sure, we saw Ammy revealed alongside him in MvC3. Might be Ammy again, or some other fantasy character.
-Black Widow: I fully expect Chun-Li vs Black Widow to happen, with BW replacing MvC3 Jill
-Hawkeye: Generally seen as the âmarksmanâ character, probably goes against a gun user like Chris
-Doctor Strange: Another candidate for Morrigan (Scarlet Witch would be hype though), I could actually see someone associated with magic like Tessa or Donovan here
-Iron Fist: JON TALBAIN VS IRON FIST HNNNG
-Spider Man: Viewtiful Joe?
A big flaw of the Capcom roster in MvC3 was the lack of villains. Wesker and Akuma were the only bad guys in Vanilla, then we got Firebrand, Nemesis, and Vergil in Ultimate. Wesker is the only real âmastermindâ of the bunch, compared to Marvelâs Magneto, Doctor Doom, MODOK, Thanos, Dormmamu, and Loki. This could be an excuse to see Bison make an appearance, but Iâd really like to see Sigma or someone new to the VS series.[/details]
Thatâll be interesting if they have dedicated assist characters. But Iâm not sold on 2v2. 3v3 is the chaos Marvel deserves.

This are just few examples of modern Marvel apps that have been develop, publish and franchise by two different gaming companies simultaneously with the same privilege and flexibility on character availability that includes Wolverine, Spider-man and the Avengers cast together in one game. The only problem is when they would be using Hugh Jackmanâs Wolverine in their games, apparel and toys.
I hope Disney wouldnât see this an opportunity to tighten things up or Capcom not to sensationalized and take advantage DLC.

Right now heâs hunting Carnage with a Rogue government op (includes some new characters, old Darkhold related character and manwolf) he still has the Toxin symbiote from Flashâs run of the Venom book, but to match the more military nature of his role, heâs made it look like Agent Venom.
Personality wise heâs a bit more levelheaded lethal protector. Not a danger to his teammates, willing to kill, but has a huge desire to do good, and has a soft spot for innocent kids. Iâve personally been enjoying the book, and recommend people picking it up if they enjoy a bit of Cthulu mixed with superhero antics.

Why does 25 characters on Marvel side seem unlikely?
In Ultimate Marvel v Capcom, we had a roster of 50 characters (25 Marvel, 25 Capcom). Keep in mind that was about a dozen more characters than we originally got at launch.

Youâre right, I underestimated the roster size. Mainly because only 10 out of those 50 characters were actually played lol
As you said though there were 38 characters at launch. Maybe theyâll do something like SF5 and release the last ones over a few months.

My heart stopped for a second at the sight of three Spider-Man characters. Iâd honestly be pretty okay with this, even if Iâd miss the X-Men, Deadpool and my beloved Lord Doom, while also wondering why Carol isnât in here, even if thatâs the current Ms. Marvel. THANOS REIGNS!!! Also, Venom himself IS still running around with a new host after he left Flash. Heâs got a solo book, and they seem to be doing a dual perspective thing where the symbiote wants to be a hero due to enjoying his time with Flash, but his now host psychotic war vet who just wants to murder and steal, because heâs tired of having to wait on the system for everything after he lost some fingers. Seems really interesting, and could possibly put him on the board again.
