Yeah I like the assist heavy neutral. I feel thats what makes Marvel what it is. They could maybe have a longer cool down for certain ones, but I guess assists can be very difficult to balance in general. I would prefer a game where everyone has solid assists though. MVC3 tried to purposely make point and assist centric characters which I don’t think is an issue that needs to be forced.
I agree with slightly less chaotic neutral that is easier to be nuanced in and less brainless combo routes. Assist just frame canned teleport stuff was a bit much
Exactly. While this can make the game exciting to watch, it makes it less exciting to play. Characters like Doom that had touch of death combos and 1 million health and a good assist were just too good. Because of touch of death combos that did 700K+, you basically were handicapping yourself if you chose to play a character that couldn’t put out damage like that unless they had a top tier assist.
X-Factor introduced even more brainless touch of death combos. There were some cool things about X-Factor, and I like that it was toned down in ultimate compared to original Marvel 3, but it was still too strong and it wouldn’t be something I missed if it were to not return.
Yeah I believe the community agreed to ban them in the end, but by that time the game was truly dead anyways. The problem was that more than half the cast literally couldn’t fight them. You basically had to have Tekkaman Blade on your team and abuse his hit grab that went into a cinematic everytime so you could bypass the superarmour on everything. Technically they weren’t unbeatable but they just shitted all over the meta.
The community didn’t agree to ban them. TOs put a ban on them hoping to extend the life of game. Giants weren’t as bad as people made them. Let’s be honest, it was PTX people had issues with. Lightan was bottom in that game.
Yeah I just think the giants look really mundane to fight against. Like all of your combo routes and pressure options are just mute vs then. You’re basically fighting a Sega Genesis boss.
Some quality matches from Japanese TvC players. The non giant matches begin at 1:19:13. As you can see, sitting on meter is the way to go since bursts were so strong defensively. Nonetheless, UAS ended up being a great game to play.
So if there were to port Ultimate Marvel 3 to the PS4 to generate hype for Marvel 4, I would imagine they would announce the port and Marvel 4 at the PSX announcement and later show Marvel 4 game play at the Capcom Cup.
The more I think about the Marvel 3 port, the more sense it makes. Capcom loves re-releasing games, and it would certainly help generate hype and money. Worse case scenario the games would go back to the PS3/360 marketplace but port to PS4 seems very possible.
If there was going to be a port for PS4, would it be sort of a surprise release where they would launch the port the same day as the announcement, or would you imagine we’d wait for sometime (if so, how long)?
Hmmm…I could see it being released sometime in early 2017 if it becomes a thing. I’d actually be down for a PS4 port with great netcode. That way, most TO’s won’t have to go through such a hassle to have Marvel at majors. The Polygon article is by no means a confirmation, but the fact that it said there’ll be news for Marvel 3 fans tells me a port could be very likely. When SFV was announced, the PS4 port for Ultra was also announced. We’re probably looking at a similar scenario.
I’m wondering if any of the characters from SFV will make the roster. Quite a few people wanted Juri in MVC3. I could see Necalli and Rashid (that nigga is a Marvel character, tbh) getting some consideration. Really interested in how Capcom’s side of the roster will look.
Yeah I’m almost certain they’ll do like they did with Viper and throw in some SFV new characters or redesigned ones like Nash or Birdie to cross promote V in MVC4. Would be pretty cool and help give the new characters extra exposure. I’m not a big fan of any of the new SFV characters, but Rashid would fit pretty well. Laura would be pretty interesting to add as like a hybrid grappler in an anime game. Would be a concept that you don’t regularly see in marvel/anime games.
