I donât think we have an answer to for your first question. I suspect that we wonât have to wait too long though.
Six gems means six different passive and/or activated abilities granted to characters. I seriously doubt they will have any affect on hyper combos aside from the power or speed bonuses those gems grant.
Do you guys think there will be a special gem choice for each character like in Marvel Superheroes where Time Gem let Shuma turn people to stone or Psylocke make duplicates with the Power Gem?
Gems will pretty much be exactly like MVC - short-term special bufs/traits
Like in the trailer - Power Stone increases damage output and gives OTG properties to normals
Time Stone gives a teleport-dash and improves juggle-potential/comboability
As cool as it can be, Iâd hate to see some characters pigeon-holed into using only the gems they synergize with. It worked in MSH because you didnât have to pick a gem and stick to it, you acquired it and it was an added bonus if you were the one that got to activate it.
Itâd be one hell of a balancing act to give certain gems certain special attributes to certain characters and I think their development efforts would be better focused elsewhere
