Since Thanos is a very safe bet for this roster, what would be a good Capcom equivalent? I keep picturing villains like M. Bison and Dr. Wily and can’t help but think they don’t come close enough to match him. Pyron? He strikes me as more of a Dormammu counterpart (not just because of the flames). Is there some Capcom badass I’m missing?
Some the deities in Asura’s Wrath would fit.

I think all you are missing is Bilstein, Scion and Grandmaster Meioh.
But there really isn’t an equivalent for Thanos from Capcom. He is a titan which is seven times smarter than Dr. Doom, which in turn is considered an absolute genius.

True. Asura’s Wrath seems like a likely series to see some representation, but I don’t know if anyone besides Asura himself would make it. I do want to see a playable Sigma this game, but idk about Ultron…like, what will he do that sets him apart? (robot minions? I feel like someone else would fit that role better) I’m alright with having the roster promote the MCU and everything, but not every recently-featured movie character should make it.
I see everyone talking about Miles, Gwen, etcetera, but what if they put Spider-Woman?

I’m not going to lie. Between UMVC3 and the MCU (Including Netflix) I’ve developed an interest and strong desire to learn about more Marvel Characters. I didn’t care much for marvel, outside of the superficial spiderman, wolverine, venom etc… Before MVC3 came out, then the movies furthered my interest in all things marvel. I say this because I can’t think of too many Marvel side characters I want in this game, except for the return of popular X-Men characters.

I know Capcom for sure wants to promote their current, on-going, licenses…
But I swear if they do with Monster Hunter what Nintendo did with the latest Smash games, shoving all those stupid Fire Emblem characters up to our throats, I’m going to be really pissed off.
To me, the part of Capcom on Marvel vs Capcom games should be composed of classic characters, not whatever they’re trying to push forward as a marketing machine. A little of the latter is OK, but if there are more than 2 Monster Hunter characters and/or more than 1 stage, that’s going to be hugely enraging.

Taskmaster - Rival of Spider-man and enemy of avengers in the cartoons.
Thanos - and because of GEMS.

Mh, do people generally dislike Zero? I’m noticing on more and more of these list we don’t see Zero on the capcom side. I’d imagine he would be mroe likely than a monster hunter, breath of fire, or powerstone rep. I’d imagine more people are calling for cyberbot’s Jin or someone like Captain Commando. Either way, he was one of the top characters in both Tatsunoko vs Capcom and Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, seeing X in without Zero would be a loss. Similarly, I’d like to see Vergils return with Dante.

I think they exclude Zero because the game already has X as a Mega Man rep. I still want for Zero in the game as I’m a bigger fan of him than X.
I honestly would have been fine with Volnuts inclusion in UMVC3, with a retooled move set. He would have fit well with Tron in MVC3. Seeing MVCi is in development I’d hope they would just do the same for UMVC3 Zero. I’m hoping each series would have at least two to four reps depending on the popularity of the franchise. If a character already exist why not use that one with the addition, in this case zero and x. I’m in the camp for a sigma inclusion but I’d still prefer zero and x before sigma. Regardless I know these are personal wishlist so I’ll settle down.
I don’t care either way about Zero but I see 3 Mega Man reps max and I picked Sigma for a villain and Tron Bonne for a female rep. Vergil is the Capcom character I least want to return.

The game looks super early and they want to get it out in 2017.
They claimed a huge roster, but they also claimed “the heritage was not lost” and fans of all Marvel properties should be satisfied when asked about X-Men and FF. Now there’s a rumor their DLC. So I’m thinking they meant with DLC when they said there would be a huge roster.
