Who fucking cares about the leader position? Cyclops was the absolute leader of the X-Men back then at the time of MvC3 and he didn’t make it because of some Marvel politics at the time, not because of status in the MU.
Cyclops’ stock has been super high with fans all over and I’m sure he will be DLC, like Wolverine and Storm.
Thought exercise for you all: What characters sound particularly fun/broken in a free-tag system? For now, assume you can only tag during the active/recovery frames of a connected attack, and the original character will continue their attack as if you put down the controller (ex. Chun finishes Lightning Legs, but Hulk doesn’t do the follow up to Gamma Charge if you tag on the 1st hit).
Attacks that are active for long periods of time (Lightning Legs, Strange’s Bolts of Balthakk) seem great for starters, particularly if your secondary has a teleport or tri-dash to control your positioning well. Doctor Strange had both in MvC3 and would be perfect in this game.
Actually he is dead, but not from Black Bolt. He died from terrigen mist poisoning. But as you pointed out, in Marvel “dead” shouldn’t be taken too harshly. Young Cyclops is still around anyway.
Just listen to how dramatic this theme is, you can feel the whole weight of leadership while having to deal with old ugly hairy guy with metal bones and healing factor trying to bone your woman.
I hope they change up the RE reps. Chris, Jill, Wesker & Nemesis again would be boring. Let’s go with Leon, Ada or Claire & Wesker instead. Wesker stays because he’s the best Capcom villain, also because he fits Mahvel perfectly.
I think they’ll go with atleast Leon. I can’t see RE7 getting a rep because it doesn’t seem like it has any good fighting game material; also if I’m correct you never see the main character’s face, right? Maybe we’ll get a RE7 stage.
This is exactly what I don’t want the game to revolve around. This exact composition, I mean. Too much like SFxT.
But we still gotta know if tagging on block is free or not. If tagging on block turns out to cost bar, and you start the fight with no bars, them it might stay balanced. Maybe they will balance some characters around moves that they know will be used with that purpose in mind? Strange with no assists may have a hard time getting room to breath and build meter, or even making you block EoA/BoB, so Strange/Wesker might be strong if you get momentum, but landing the first hit turns out to be a pain. I think the opposite of what you said will be the better option. Teleport/tri-dasher with an easy time getting the first hit, tag into a long ass animation special, tag into yout teleport/tri-dasher for some mixups. But maybe the damage difference will be bigger than UMVC3, so you might want to have a brawler as your secundary to really make it count instead of a mixup tool? I’m really liking the possibilities, even though I’ll just pick my two favorite characters and roll with whatever they can do.
