If he gets in, odds are he’ll get the one he’s using in Homecoming. The more bird-like suit would be interesting, but I picture him fighting a lot like Firebrand in that case.
All of this focus on MCU has me with two thoughts.
While there are many MCU characters I’d love to see there are many I am not very excited for, this alone has be kind of bummed me out because they are obvious picks to make the game. Example Hawkeye, Hulk, Thor, Captain America do nothing for me.
Capcom has a history of including obscure characters on both sides, I hope there are some surprises for both Capcom and Marvel. I honestly don’t want it all MCU focused.
The thing is, even obscure picks, like Dormammu and Rocket Racoon, ended up showing up in the MCU. If they add a Spider-man villain, I bet the villian will show up on his second movie.
OH yeah, you could make him Mahvel’s Birdie and then some.
You’ve got the standard ramming move, but then, get some grapple moves but also, dude’s a comic book character with super strength, surprisingly quick and invulnerable. Go nuts.
Specials
Grey Geyser:
Leaps and lands with a stomp. Strength determines distance of a shockwave of rocks that burst out of ground and strike opponent.
Use your head:
Standard ram, but has chance to do follow up for second attack. Do input Rams opponent. Hit punch afterwards, after hitting opponent with horn, raises them and tosses them back. Hit kick after initial ram, raising multi-hit horn (think of Birdie’s Bullhorn in SF5)
Collateral Damage: Think of Birdie’s V skill. Rhino punches the ground and either a power up falls onto screen or a tool pops out of the ground like oil drum (tips), Girder (clubbing) or telephone poles (brittle, so can be thrown like javelin or break apart after swipe and have sections thrown)
No Respect: Stomps ground and snorts to get a brief bit of armor or maybe a counter special, I dunno. He needs more tools to handle projectile chuckers and someone fast like Spidey himself.
Hyper
Grey Lightning (lvl3);
Slow Start up. Rhino yells while rearing back, eye glints and steam comes out nose, charges leagues faster than his other specials. If hits opponent, drives them through walls, in rapid succession until hitting last wall. Hops back while opponent is in dizzy phase, starts slamming telephone poles, random debris into opponent. Each hit slams them in the ground till they’re up to their shoulders. Gives a mighty stomp near them as they shoot out off the ground vertically and fly off screen. As they fall downward, Rhino gives fieldgoal kick while flexing like an idiot.
I’m sure someone could properly balance something and get better move variety, but Rhino could have some visually engaging moves as well as a diverse bit of properties.
Of all of Spidey’s villains, he’s one of the worst. Peter doesn’t even consider him a real threat, so why would he show up here as anything other than a joke?
Obviously they could make a moveset for him, but the general framework for what you might use for him could easily be applied to a more interesting character.
I just don’t like him in general. It’s personal bias, but I feel like there are so many better choices both within Spidey’s rogues and the Marvel universe as a whole.
That’s actually not true. Spider-Man always takes him seriously as a threat, even if others might not and he’ll usually teach them why they should.
He also has good track record against Spider-Man, especially since he actually has beaten Spider-Man.
He’s also one of the saner Spider-Man villains, far more focus on making money than holding a grudge on Spider-Man or any hero.
But far more importantly for the topic at hand, Shocker would fit very well in a fighting game. I also appreciate the idea, because Shocker is a far more unique suggestions i’ve seen for this game.
The only time he was a complete joke was in the Ultimate Universe anyway and they wouldn’t be going with that version.
In the main universe, the ones that are considered the worst are villains like Hypno-Hustler, White Rabbit and such.
I’m just wondering why they can’t put in an unexpected Street Fighter character like Hugo.
I mean MVC2 was loaded with Street Fighters. Ever since the XvSF days these characters have fit comfortably with the Marvel cast because they’re implied to have superpowers of their own. Hugo certainly wouldn’t be out of place, I imagine his strength is on par with the big guys of Marvel. With his screen coverage and armor he could be a decent point character, especially if they gave him EX versions of his moves.
You do realize that Street Fighter was so heavy in the early games because Capcom already had the sprites, right? Same for X-Men, honestly. Even for a grappler, there are better choices from Street Fighter (Zangief, Alex) and Final Fight (Haggar, Sodom/Retu).
Shortlist of Street Fighters that are likely to get in (after Ryu and the inevitable Chun-Li)
Spoiler
[list]
[] Zangief: The true grappler, he’s iconic and covers a distinct archetype. Only reason he won’t get in is Capcom going with Haggar or something over him.
[] Akuma: Akuma has been in every Marvel game since COTA (secret character, was also a summon for MSH Anita), and is really popular. However, I can see him sitting this one out to avoid having a second shoto.
[] Rashid: Big hit from SFV, would make an ideal cross-promotion. Seeing how they made Viper for MvC3, I would personally be excited to see his wind mechanics in this game, particularly if Storm isn’t in.
[] Necalli: The other SFV character with some chance, he could actually work well if they add in his cutscene powers as moves. Venom/Wolverine hybrid anyone?
[] Bison: Main villain of SFV and iconic character. Capcom could include him to round out the villain quota, and the amount of variance in his move list across all games gives them a crazy amount of material to work with.
[] Juri: As some have mentioned, the main reason Juri never made it into MvC3 was that SSF4 was being developed concurrently and Capcom had no idea she’d take off. If we’re not getting Zero and Mega Man doesn’t charge busters, Juri could get her projectile store back. This is Marvel, so you could have her dive kicks back too along with her chainable special from SFV. Who doesn’t want Time Stone Juri anyway?
[] Gill: A long stretch, but his powers would work much better in Marvel, and he’s been cropping up a lot in requests lately.
[] Viper: She worked well in MvC3 and wasn’t in SFV; why fix what ain’t broke? (or in mahvel terms, “what IS broke?”)
[] Alex: Off-grappler, appeared in TvC. If Capcom wants to throw back even further to that game, Alex might have a chance.
[] Decapre: Yes, seriously. She’s just over-the-top enough to fit as a Marvel character, but I don’t anticipate a good reaction if she’s in…
