Shuma’s gonna need some more cosmic-level moves if he plans to come back. He’s the God of Chaos, yet all he does is shoot eyeballs and turn into a spike ball? C’mon. First thing’s first, his command grab has gotta go. I mean, it’s not like he ever used it in the other games much; he just went for his health drain throw. That move slot could be used for something flashier, like maybe he could fling open a portal near his opponent and he could just tentacle slap them through the portal from full screen.
I’m leaning towards Nina. Sword-wielders have such a small vacancy space in this game, what with the good number of them between Capcom and Marvel to choose from. Besides, Nina has always been a staple in the BoF series. The Dark Dragon, OTOH, is always different. Rey in BOF 2. Teepo in 3. Bosch in Dragon Quarter.
A great replacement character for them moveset wise is…
Star-Lord.
As Star-Lord, Peter Quill wears a suit that grants augmented strength and durability and the ability to travel through space. The character uses an “Element Gun”, a special meta-pistol capable of projecting one of the four elements (air, earth, fire and water).
Ditch the whole two Level 3 supers for Strider Hiryu. Make him have Ouroboros and Ragnarok as Level 1 supers. Having him as the smallest health or one of the smallest one is enough.
If not, bring Strider Hien for this one and start from scratch.
Star Lord will likely be like Chris with a jetpack. Lots of high durability projectiles and strong chip game, but i see him receiving some sort of ammo system to balance him out. I also wouldnt rule out Mags and Storm from the initial roster. Those two specifically are extremely relevant to the comics on many fronts right now. If there are any X-Men im expecting as DLC, its Sentinel and Phoenix. I do, however, see either one or both of them changed significantly gameplay-wise to avoid the “x is just a better y” scenario.
So instead of sword normals we would get staff normals.
Fou-lu summons an energy sword. His normals wouldn’t have to be only swords. And in dragon form he never uses swords anyway.
I’d love to see Cyclops back in the series more than anything else.
Other characters that I think would be cool.
Marvel: Nightcrawler, Archangel, Elektra, Daredevil, Iron Fist, Phoenix.
Capcom: Amaterasu, Dimitri Maximoff, Edward Falcon, Nash.
Nina would be as much of a staff fighter as Dr. Strange is a hand-to-hand combatant. Also, we haven’t really seen Fou-Lu do any attacks in his base form apart from sword swipes and spells. The devs could pull a Spencer and just not give him his primary form of attack, but you’d be dishonest if you didn’t call Fou-Lu a sword-wielder.
Nina has wind. Capcom would just turn her into a Storm clone. Fou-lu could have hand to hand and sword normals, ice and Won-qu specials and a transformation super.
Ock had complete art and a theme. I knew he made it far in the development stages, but I thought he was discarded way before they had that much work done.
Would really like to see this character get another opportunity in Infinite.
There wouldn’t be any licensing issues with Vader. Maybe Capcom could get Scrooge McDuck as their guest character. Disney could be down with it as promotion for the Duck Tales reboot lmao.
Man, Ock would be so dope. I really hope he gets in Infinite too, he’s easily Spidey’s best villain (Eddie Venom is an anti-hero ). Even if he doesn’t get in, I’d love to hear his MvC3 theme one day.
I think the stuff Niitsuma said about Ms Marvel & Vision is just him bullshitting. Dude said back in the day that Black Panther would be too similar to fucking Taskmaster lol. I could understand Wolverine, but how are BP & Tasky remotely similar?
Yeah, seeing how he would’ve looked in MVC3 would be nice. I just hope there’s a chance to include him in Infinite. They said he was a technical nightmare, but perhaps they’ve found a way around that now.
Most of the Niitsuma excuses were pretty weird back in the day. A lot of it was just BS, too. Remember when he said making a moveset for Mega Man was an issue? In a game with a fucking lawyer of all people, that had to be the worst excuse. I still recall them saying Ghost Rider wasn’t in MVC3 because they couldn’t implement his bike into the game. Some months later, he just happens to be in UMVC3.
He thought ghost rider was like permanently stuck to his bike.
Dr ock wasn’t implemented because he had weird hurtbox problems. Probs due to his tentacles which would move around I supposr
I know Frank was cut from Vanilla due to causing netcode issues (presumably from generating too many objects), I always thought the Spidey villain was just considered expendable.
