On Capcom’s end, you’ll struggle to find many black characters that aren’t basically Balrog. That’s the unfortunate side effect of using franchises that originated in 80’s/90’s Japan. Marvel actually does have some options for black people (Hispanics not so much), but with Storm/X-Men off the table and Blade being snubbed for the likes of Dante/Gamora, Marvel’s backed themselves into a corner. I guess Falcon and War Machine are MCU enough to make it? WM could work if he was a partial big body, like the Venom to Iron Man’s Spider Man.
I hope black panther takes off his mask like Tony so we can see how black he is.
The playerbase will bring in the racial diversity.
Sheva from RE or Rouge from Powerstone or Laura could fill those niches on Capcom’s side. Capcom doesn’t strike me as being forward thinking enough to think about shit like ethnic diversity. Thank all the gods for Marvel and their so-called SJW agenda, which has led to Black Panther getting his own movie and being in this game, and may lead to Luke Cage in a Defenders DLC Pack (kill me) down the line. Feels good man. I’m not greedy though, and think Hispanic people, women of color and other minority groups and others should get the chance to feel that too for their $5.99.
Man if I got to play Sheva and BP? Shiiiiiiiiie! I’d play the team just to hear him tag her.

Hell gaming aside I am seeing more ethnicities pop up on anime. Hell 2k games are just now getting the CAC right in that department. Used to piss me off if I wanted to play a brotha in a 2K or madden game all I could rock is a case or MAYBE a lets get ready to rumble fro. Still hoping I get to see Luke Cage with them hands in this game. I for sure would rock a Panther/Cage team.
In terms of old school capcom, there is only 3 people (aside from the DS peeps) that qualify over everyone else to be in this game: Capcom, Strider, Jin.

ASURA. Dude’s made for Mahvel. It baffles me to no end. I fucking love Asura’s Wrath, and ever since that game I wanted him to show up in Mahvel.
And with The Punisher coming out on Netflix it seems like a missed opportunity to promote Frank’s new show. Hell, they could give him Cable’s old “Function” to differentiate him from the other gun users. Just let him have fullscreen machine guns that can be confirmed into fullscreen machinegun supers.
