Didn’t I read somewhere that all DLC were going to be new characters to the universe?
who knows. at this point i just want to see who they are. really excited for Hunter and Venom if they are in. Vanessa would be a god send
Season 1 is confirmed to be all new, but they might mean “new” as in “not in UMvC3”. For later seasons, I can see them throwing in those characters who didn’t make the launch roster as a “cheaper” rate per character, such as a pack of 8.
“hey, you can get both characters for a cheaper price instead of buying only one!” And then it’s one new and one from UMVC3.
Eh, that’s fine. Honestly I’m not as picky as some. I like various characters but as crass as it sounds I like functions a lot more LOL!
The main reason why I might end up playing Jedammu is because of the characters tools. (Granted I’ve always found Dormammu a cool design)
I’m still hoping they get creative with BP, (and if they have a Storm DLC down the line, that’s my team, I’m done with the rest ha!)
On top of my radar are:
Gamora
Ironman
Ghost Rider
Frank West
Haggar
Hawkeye
Thanos
Ultron
Gamora/Frank will be the first actual team I play, her rapid fire combos seem like a sure fire way to get Frank to Lv.4 or Lv.5 so he’s going to get a lot better in this game a lot quicker.
Ultron is my safe bet, I don’t know what others think but to me he seems like a Cable function. Sort of safely jump back and throw drones (grenades) and control the screen with the various beam projectiles he has. He seems to be both a defensive and offensive character so he’s going to be interesting to play and unpredictable to play aginst.
I’m dying to see what they’ve done with Ironman, to be honest on first impressions besides his new moves his mobility and combo ability doesn’t seem that much better than his U3 incarnation so I’m looking forward to mess around and find out what they’ve done with him.
Same with Ghost Rider; he seems to have gained significant buffs all bar the huge nerf to chip damage crippling his game, he seems to have decent screen control and has gained a decent air to air attack now so can play the keepaway game a lot more effectively and provide screen control for other characters.
Haggar, Thanos and Hawkeye just look fun. I want to annoy people with Haggar’s barrels, and I think Hawkeye/Power sounds like a lethal combination, having all that extra damage on stray hits and no pushback on advanced guard gives him full control of the screen with absolutely no push backs.

Capcom can’t use Blade since Tekken holds the rights to him.
I’d love to see Capcom add in Ms. Marvel, Quake, Q, Talbain and Medusa (could have a Millia thing going there). But realistically we’ll probably just get some more rehashes from Marvel 3.

I predicted Juggernaut a while ago and got slammed pretty heavily, but it’s interesting that Dr. Strange references Cyttorak by using the Crimson Bands to try and restrain the Symbiote. So it’s not so hard to push that perhaps maybe somehow just a little bit that it’s a reference to potentially seeing the Crimson Gem of Cyttorak further down the line. They could have left any reference to Cyttorak out of the game entirely but instead chose to give it that one little plug, it seems more of a hint than a story element that we have a need to know that Dr. Strange has the Crimson Bands of Cyttorak.
And it’s interesting that all this is happening in Earth-616.
I think Doc Strange just likes using magical artifacts. I wouldn’t read too much into it. As cool as it would be to see Juggs come back I’m sure we would at least get Logan and probably Storm or Cyclops first.
Now that Venom is confirmed(Better fucking be classic Eddie Brock) I really want from marvel side at this point is Rogue/Gambit/Nightcrawler/Carnage and all of them seem very unlikely so whatever. Doctor Octopus would be really cool too.
Capcom side has tons of potential though. I’d kill to see my girl B.B.Hood come back. She was fun as shit in MvC2 and even the darkstalkers version of her doesn’t compare to how great she felt in that game. Rival Schools Kyosuke or Akira would be dope. I’d love to see Tron and Hsienko come back from mvc3. There are tons of cool Darkstalkers that would fit well. Protoman and TvC Roll would be awesome as well. I don’t know why Capcom is so afraid to put in something colorful and fun like Captain Commando, Jin, Ruby Heart etc. Nostalgia goes a long way.
Eh, Strange has referred to Cytorrak forever in the comics, doubt it’s a call back.
I know i won’t see them but Rogue Spiral Jin Emma frost punisher and more People of color characters are on my wish list for this game.
IF the X-Men eventually show up as dlc, you’ll likely only just see the extremely popular ones (aka the moneymakers) like Wolverine, Magneto and Deadpool.
Characters like '90s Rogue don’t even exist anymore, not to mention Capcom had to fight hard to put Sentinel in MvC3.
And lets face it (which is kinda ironic and LMAO at the same time), Sentinel was played because it’s function.
I’ve never heard someone say (when X-Men COTA was released) “Oh my days, Sentinel is in the game! He’s my favorite character!”
(The whole function interview is still poor damage control imo though, let’s keep that straight)

Why are people craving so hard for characters like Captain Commando and Jin Saotome to return besides MvC1 nostalgia?
Commando was only popular because of his assist in MvC2.
Most people have NEVER played the original Captain Commando game or Cyberbots (heck I even have never played Cyberbots), let alone these games being wildly popular to begin with.
I can understand why people wanted for example, Megaman (X), since MvC3 (not that I cared) but I could see the reason.
With the former two I just can’t… Similar to Power Stone (fun game but just to obscure and not that much uniqueness with the characters to begin with) or Rival Schools (again nice game, but stick some of them in the Street Fighter universe where they would be a better fit)
