…I like this. You’ve got a pretty decent framework there. I hope you and Willseless are right on your guesses, and I hope he’s in. They could even toss in some nods to his CPS1 scrolling brawler game from back in the day, one of his grabs could be the one he did at the end of stage 1, for example: He’d heft the target up by the neck, then shoot them with his pistol. Jumping and tossing a grenade downward could also be a thing. Random scenery weapons likewise. Clearly he has options.
He’d be a fun addition, and these responses make a pretty good challenge to the whole ‘Chris covers his playstyle’ thing.
If Frank is back in I’d LOVE references to the old CPS1 game (his theme and a few moves like you said). Make him this game’s Cody and have some access to beat 'em up features and weapons.
They could even give him his grounded Tatsu special from the Arcade game. I always laughed when I saw it, but it’d be perfect in a fighting game:

While it’d likely never happen, I could imagine Punisher with a “damage soak” type of super where he takes reduced damage for a short period of time. His pain tolerance is pretty ridiculous. Chris definitely isn’t stopping Frank from being in. If I could come up with an entire moveset for Frank that would differentiate him from Chris, nothing is stopping Capcom from doing it.
Would like to see Punisher just so he and West can form Team Frank.

Aah, those screenshots bring back fond memories. Heh, a damage soak mechanic could be fun. I really think they could go crazy-fun with Frank and custom mechanics and states for opponents.
Don’t worry, you’re not alone. We’re both in this same camp of people who want to be excited but know that we can’t because of Capcom’s money grubbing bullshit.
And that’s irrelevant because this is a new game.
One that isn’t reinventing the characters. The returning characters are all doing the same shit they did in past games.
I’m saying since it’s a new game it’s not a foregone conclusion that Nemesis will be in at all, which means Hugo can replace him.

Haggar/Kingpin interactions would be cool. Leave Asura to Hulk so they can get a rage off.
If the Punisher is in, then he needs a beam/projectile hyper that can be tiger kneed into it’s air version low to the ground.
The way I see it is that Chris is just a single soldier. Punisher would be an entire army. I think you can easily make Punisher play differently from Chris; just look at the comics & tell me that reminds you of Chris.
Lasers ain’t the Punisher’s thing. Save it for someone like Rocket.

I think you’ve just convinced me that The Punisher is now right up there with Nina-2 for characters I really, really want in this game.
Something I am liking thus far is Capcom’s approach to the returning characters. Cap got a counter, Thor throws his hammer, and Chris has an ammo gauge now. Knowing this, what do you want/hope to see out of series veterans (MvC3 or MvC2) if they make it in?

[] Would a mech install be unreasonable for Jin? I get that Blodia is gigantic, but most Sentinel models are too.
