MvC Infinite CHARACTER Speculation/Request Thread

I think Hugo would be fun, but I don’t think he deserves a spot.

what are chances of thanos

Like a 99% chance.

I want big creatures that are weird different but not another or the usual zombies and magic satchel users.

Monsters, humanoids and bizarre mythical creatures are the spot for those!

Miss me with that kinda talk.

Hugo is basically Capcom’s Hulk.

Just imagine snatching people out of the air with his invincible reversal EX backbreaker and then comboing after that. Or charging straight through Shinkuu Hadoken with his hyper armor EX meat squasher. He’s pure fucking insanity. Like the properties of Frank West’s moves on a much bigger guy.

watch his health vanish thanks to unscaled damage due to hyper armor and hit stop making him get hit more

Nigga there aren’t ex moves in Marvel, Viper notwithstanding. I’d rather get a character whose defining trait isn’t resembling the mooks from Final Fight. Capcom has plenty of options that are better than Hugo. Hell, Victor from Darkstalkers would basically be electric Hugo but better in every way.

Chun and Viper both had EX moves in UMVC3. You don’t know what you’re talking about.

Victor? No way in hell that homo faggostein is any better than Hugo. “Oooh stick it in my butt Ryu”, he says as he grabs Ryu with his asscheeks. He isn’t just a terrible grappler he’s also the worst Darkstalker. FOHWTBS.

Huh? It doesn’t scale anyways. The only difference would be that it doesn’t put him in hitstun.

Nemesis is Capcom’s Hulk. He was added to UMvC3 to add a big body to Capcom’s roster. Hugo is a trash choice for Marvel. PTX exists if Capcom needs a big body. As I said before, keep him in the none Marvel crossover games.

Nemesis turned out to be pretty useless, and PTX is a giant, not just a big body. He’s also a non-character.

Nah, getting hit by a raw super will scale if it does more than 1 hit. E.g. last hit of beam super would be less than the first hit.
Single hitting super and cinematics don’t follow this rule ofc

I don’t think it’d be a problem because by the time he gets a few hits of the beam in, Hugo’s already on top of him and bending him over.

They need to put Demitri in this game. Need the new swag god if Magnus ain’t in.

I doubt we’ll see EXs return in this game. It’s a different team led by someone who worked on the older (CPS2) games, and the focus seems to be on making it feel mechanically closer to the older games.

The statement that Nemesis is Capcom’s Hulk is completely fucking absurd. Nemesis isn’t a pure brute strength kind of fighter, he’s a mutating tentacle monster with a rocket launcher. Hulk is all about raw power and that’s what makes Hugo his equivalent.

If (when) Venom gets put in, I hope they do the Wolverine thing and give him a new theme. I never really felt his theme. It was okay, but it didn’t scream “VENOM!” to me. The way that Spider-man’s original theme instantly gives me the feeling of agility, quickness, rushing into save the day, I didn’t really feel this driving, violent force with Venom’s. I dunno.

Highly unlikely, Wolverine got his theme changed back in the day, before nostalgia could set in.

So here’s something interesting I’ve realized: The Punisher seems to have lost a lot of support this time around compared to MVC3 speculation. I’ve seen a few mentions here and there, but not as much as I expected. Is it because people think he won’t get in? Or that Chris basically satisfies his playstyle already?

Punisher will get a show. I think his chances are higher this time.

Personally, I’d love to get him in the game (Especially if they has some kinda install where he went back to the pilfered villain weapons thing to add an edge to him), but I’m kinda worried that despite his reinvigorated popularity he may not make it in till later. Though, if it were up to me, I’d handle it like looking at a Ryu and Ken through the lens of SFV and only have the barest of similarities.

Punisher knows quite a lot of hand to and combat, I’d give him some guns and knives attacks, but I’d give him quite a lot of brutal hand to hand moves and animations to compensate. Chris is a heroic soldier, Frank is a soldier who’s chief way of resolving conflict is murdering as brutally and efficiently as possible.

If he had a counter move, I would bring in the brutality aesthetic by having him flip the character around, kick the back of their knee with a Capcom esque bone crick sound, throw a grenade “necklace” on them and then have it blast them to the other side of the screen. Stuff like what we’ve seen in the past. Over-the-top animations that are violent, but bloodless. Stuff like how we don’t see blood gushing when BB Hood slices your throat or any of Wolverine’s throws.

Another move I could easily see him having some sort of 3+ hit attack where he starts with hitting the opponent with the butt of a shotgun in two arcs and then spins around onto one knee and blasts them. Heck you can have him do Capcom!Jojo’s Hol Horse thing where he shoots off screen and debris and such fall onto the opponent , have him have explosive charges in the ground, all sorts of things that show his full skills - hand to hand, small arms, demolition, sniping, etc.

A rather creative team, could easily make the two different enough that he’d be a welcome addition to the roster without people going “Hey! They’re clones!”
