It only made sense in MvC2 because they ripped so many sprites from the Alpha games. If they’re doing 6 Street Fighters, they would have to make completely new animations for at least 2 of them if they reuse Ryu, Chun, Viper, and Akuma. If they are putting in that kind of work, they might as well just reuse the 4 characters from MvC3 and get 2 new characters from other games.
They don’t merely copy and paste these characters. That’s not how game development works. They need to update everything about them which is basically like making a whole new character. Update their meshes, retopologize and retexture them, make them fit the new control scheme… it’s a lot of work. They don’t just ctrl+C ctrl+V them.
Returning from MvC3 would be Ryu, Chun and Akuma, while the others are new. They should ditch Viper as she isn’t even in SF5.
I loved Venom back in the days, but from a purely aesthetic standpoint, I wanted him to have a few more more moves that weren’t just morphs. I wanted to see some things that combined his speed, strength and brutality.
She-Hulk. She has some terrible supers and doesn’t live up to her potential. I’d give her more stuff involving pulling out large objects and smashing the opponent with them, and causing earthquakes with her booty.
Before Capcom cut off her legs and removed all of her combos in Ultimate, she was fine. I don’t know what the hell they were thinking giving her BY FAR the harshest nerfs of any character going from Vanilla to Ultimate. Fucking Phoenix came out with less nerfs.
I like what they did with her in Marvel Heroes and other similar games, where she pulls out things like giant stone pillars and spins it like a helicopter or comes rushing in carrying a New York taxi cab which she smashes people with. I’d make her attacks large, powerful and comical. She can pick up a taxi cab from behind her which she can then swing around and beat people with, or she can throw it as an exploding projectile. She can even super jump with it and throw it downwards from a great height which is like a projectile that causes a ground bounce.
Stuff like this is what I’d like to see. Not so much the throwing of briefcases and red tape though. That’s too obvious and more appropriate for Phoenix Wright.
To paraphrase Viscant, Phoenix, or specifically Dark Phoenix needs to be somewhat broken or else the 5 bars you’re saving to use her becomes pointless.
I read an idea somewhere a while ago, of Rocket Raccoon riding Groot’s shoulder. When his lifebar is depleted, Rocket hops off and becomes his own character with a much smaller lifebar, kinda like D.Va and her mech, in Overwatch.
But that might make too much sense to get in, so I just wanna say Gene from God Hand.
