Online in this game is ass… told you guys this game was rushed
That’s the sad part. Online was a “make or break it” thing for me. I have no local scene here, only way for me to ‘level up’ is from online competition. I have to dumb my game down so badly I’m not learning anything when I go online.
I bought a $60 game I don’t even play thanks to this “lightning fast” online. If I was Capcom I’d be worried…sure I bought your game initially, but now I haven’t been playing it and I won’t be buying any DLC for a game I don’t play.
I didn’t buy the game to fight the AI, I think it’s stupid resources are dedicated to silly things like shadow mode, which has highly abused AI flaws, and adds nothing really. They dropped the ball, and I’ll be speaking with my wallet when the next Capcom game being put out.
For now on, if the netcode is garbage like this, I’m not buying.
thats how i see it as well. if the next capcom game has shit netcode i aint buying it. they either give it rollback code or fuck off. mvc3 and ssf4 are good enough for there shit online and i already know how to play them, i aint getting duped again, all the cali and ny players can continue buying there shit since they have good offline scenes, the rest of the world will be playing COD or whatever games actually have functioning online.
capcom needs to step it up. no excuses. this shit is a joke, i havent played online in either ssf4 or mvc3 in a month (months for ssf4)
and my rust shows, but its either be rusty with proper fundamentals or be non rusty with a bunch of online tactics that will get me destroyed offline… i like non laggy games better so i choose the offline scene.

Alright, this is what we need. Now the next game actually has to be a good game with shit netcode, so not buying it will actually be reflective of the netcode…and not just the game sucking…
thats the part that made me mad the most. The flat out obvious lie on top of other obvious lies.
Not many people caught this but @ one point during the developmental phase of this game, capcom said they couldn’t compare sf4 to mvc3 online cause they couldn’t see the sf4 net code. Turns out after the game is released, capcom announces the sf4 net code team built the mvc3 net code!!! and they couldn’t ASK the sf4 net code team if it would be better?
that’s the weak sauce I’m talking about. Its fucking just disgusting and reminds me of a used car salesman approach.
over @ capcomunity, there was a thread there complaining about why there was a lack of 1p modes
Whoops! Browser Settings Incompatible…
When I jumped in there and started calling them scrubs for caring about that and the only modes that matter are versus, training, online, I was the one who was an idiot.
There are HUGE problems with the community. Mainly capcomunity has more pull with the developers than shoryuken.com. I didn’t see those guys playing mvc2 for 10 years and when mvc3 comes out they’re the leading officials on the game and know what needs to be in it?
because capcom is kinda obligated to listen to everyone, we have to deal with these dumbfucks over @ capcomunity who want shadow mode. I would of scratched that shit off the final build if it meant better net play. Seriously, how many times are you gonna play shadow mode compared to a good online component?
That’s my feeling, not picking up SFxT if it doesn’t have good netplay.
That’s the problem, the people who are the most vocal are more interested in getting new characters ( which is admittedly, important and cool ) and getting shit like time attack mode or other silly minigames.
And of course, there’s people who don’t even recognize input delay or why it’s bad. I’ve had people ( though this was in regard to SSF4 ) call me an idiot for wanting GGPO netcode because “GGPO skips and ‘lags’ like crazy while SSF4 is almost always smooth”
Last night I was able to “invite” a friend into a player match, rather than having to play them in a 2 person lobby. I have no idea what caused it, and haven’t had a chance to try to do it again. but here is how it went down.
I first hosted a lobby, set the lobby size to 2, and private slot to 1. Once the lobby was created I invited my friend to join using the “invite friends” feature. After a minute or so my buddy hadn’t shown up and I figured he must be away or just not wanting to play. So I leave the lobby and go to Player Match. I search for a Player Match with settings all set to “same” and BAM I get matched up with the friend I had just invited to my lobby. Now what is very interesting is that he is ranked 7th lord, while I am just amateur. My rank limit is always set to same and I had never been matched with anyone higher than amateur before. The fact that it was the friend i had just invited to the lobby makes this seem like much more than just a coincidence and there definitely seems a way to invite people on your friends list to player matches.
It was so nice being able to just select “rematch” after a fight instead of going all the way back to the lobby! I’m going to look into this further and hope you all do too! I would love to have a definitive way to get around having to do a lobby just to play against 1 person online. Oh and by the way this was on Xbox Live.
the sad part is that for everyone of us who knows how terribad is the netcode, there are like 100 fuckers who think that the netcode is the most amazing thing ever created
Once, and that was only to get the title. Shadow mode was garbage. Pretty much the only thing some of us can do to let them know we’re not satisfied is not buy dlc and/or make threads. Yet, there’s millions of other people who will hand over their money so it’s not like they give a shit. If only this game got the same backlash KOFXII and Tekken 6 got when they tried to come out with that garbabge online. People did not let that shit fly lol.
the difference is that they weren made by capcom and didnt have sf or marvel in their name
what is more funny is that tekken 6 online wasnt as terrible as this garbage that capcom wants us to belive as netcode
Judging by the way the japanese play online for sf4, I assume the net code is pretty good over there. Definitely above average for them so mvc3 can’t be that bad over there either. I think the reason you see Capcom not being blown up for their crappy net code is because it works well in Japan.
But thats the problem. Capcom thinks Japan is the only place that matters apparently. When that net code is used for any other place outside of Japan, it just falls to shit. Furthermore, I’m convinced that they haven’t changed their net code since hf-ing on OG xbox. They reused the super turbo engine for roughly 10 years making other games from it. Since they love to recycle, the net code is probably recycled as well prior to sf4.
hf, cvs2, sf4, ssf4, tvc, mvc3 all have input delay and its all pretty close to the same amount of it.
I think the video game companies that assign the rating system to the games should also be allowed to rate the net play cause this shit is stupid. Companies are just flat out lying about it now\avoiding questions to prevent bad press prior to release. I don’t know how well the net code will be prior to buying the game? it doesn’t work like that anywhere else. Do we buy brand new cars not knowing how much gas mileage the car gets or what type of engine is in the car?
prior to the game being dropped, they announced DLC but wouldn’t really talk about their net code? Look @ that fucking weak shit. Crapcom ftl
It’s the most bare-bones fighting game this gen, you can’t call them scrubs (although they may be) for wanting more content in a game they paid $60-$75 for.
I cant believe this thread Whoops! Browser Settings Incompatible is already on page 2 because people “arent getting achievements for DLC” or that “DLC codes arent working” while we have 34 pages of it here
its okay to talk about it here but the place we have the most chance to get something done is still capcom-unity
Ok guys its been a long time im reading this tread and im gonna add a few thing to it. The only feels like tvc in some ways, the fact that you can play a match in rank or matchmaking whatever and you don’t see who you playing against until the match load that is so wack cause a lot a time it match you with the same person you just fight with. I hate that a lot, plus you don’t see the connection of the other player on rank and neither on matchmaking plus the fact you can’t rematch and loby and ranked is dumb too. I can’t never find some game in my region (canada) sometime if im lucky after 10 min of waiting. I know ab out the region rank language seting i work sometime depends. Its moore easy to find some games on ranked. Lots of srub too really bad player i mean not that i care if your not good but it always feel like they match me with those guys (these days i been able to fight some good people) The net good it self is bad for shure but to be honest i have a good connection (wired) and i been able to have some good quality matches from people of my region or usa. i know it has input lag and its harder to perform some of the hard combos but its deffenetly , playable and can enjoy some good fight. Nother thing is the region i mean i search for a lobby same region setting it dosen’t find anything. Then i put it on all region then it find some game i enter one at it says the player is from canada anyways really hard to deal with all that stuff. But honestly its playable really it is. I can land some decent combos(i guess) but you got to add the people on your friend list and play with dem cause its hard to find good quality match but remember its posible. Its just the way it work online its just ridiculous. (sorry for my english)
The “skip” and “lag” they refer to is when they’re playing against someone with Mexican wifi. Their characters warps around a bit and give the illusion of skipping frames because their connection takes slighty longer to update their current position on the screen. I understand that playing against your friends is the best solution, but not everyone has friends to play with and it can be frustrating losing to someone cause their connection is garbage. I still hate fighting laggy Bisons in HDR.
Not being able to see your opponents in a ranked match is one of the things Capcom did correctly in the netcode. You shouldn’t be able to see your opponent so you can decide whether or not you want to play them (like in SSF4). It will result in people choosing not to fight you for dumb reasons (spam too much, run away too much, play sentinel, etc.). All the other complaints are justified.
i was talking about usa
i’m so glad i got this game for free. it really makes a difference. i was more relieved at missing a bullet than mad the first time i played it online.
yeah, you called it before the game dropped. when Capcom announces a new game. i hope more people will be primarily concerned with the netcode and stop giving companies benefit of the doubt on the issue.
To be fair on that front, we don’t know how much Gamestop fucking up mentioning Jill and Shuma had to do with Capcom talking about it.
But all Capcom games will always have bad netcode (all 3D games at least since they for some reason believe rollback doesn’t work).
This makes me hope SFxT is good so that way when no one buys it, it can be blamed on the netcode like it should be.
this is probably the main reason they won’t do anything. most people can’t even feel it or don’t even know it’s lagging bad. for them, ‘it’s smooth so it’s not lagging.’
The only problem is you can’t avoid people with terrible connections or who are really bad at the game the next time you search for a ranked match. It wouldn’t be so bad if you could get into more than one match every twenty minutes.
