MvC 3 Netcode

@Seyu

The moment online forces new rules that do not apply online, kinda makes online unplayable. So the question begs, do you play this game or want to play this game competitively? Becasue I don’t think you are quite understanding the circumstance here. People are crying because online serves as practice for offline play. If you can’t play your game all the time you and are forced to substitute with online tactics you will develop bad habits.

@Jamp

sure you can play with foerigners and makes you like the code, but play somebody execution heavy or timing heavy like Iron Man. Then come back and ask me if the net code is any good. try reacting to a wolverine barrage or Akuma tatsu spam and see if its any good still.

I think I haven’t made this clear enough. I do not think the netcode is good, all I think is that it’s not as bad as people say and that I have a better experience with this game than I have with SSF4, all problems considered.

Yes input lag can be a pain when it happens and yes blocking spammable safe moves is annoying, but the overall experience is satisfactory, in my opinion.

It’s unplayable. The input lag is really bad. I know this doesn’t sound constructive, but I thought Capcom would have got it together by now. How come you can’t search for people with good connections like SFIV? Oh well back to playing offline.

Yes you can still execute combos but that’s not all this game is about. It’s fast. A half second delay means no push blocking, countering, parrying, more difficulty punishing. It’s almost like a football game where you have to call your plays before you line up.

For the scrubs that think lag is only the spikes and slow down.

spot fucking on. Great post.

and for the record, most of the brazilians don’t know what lag\input delay is. I used to play on ggpo and they would have 250-400ms connections. They used to call the Americans pussies on GGPO cause we wouldn’t play them. When we told them we couldn’t cause the lag would be too bad, they would always say there is no lag!!!

I think its their countries motto @ this point. ** Most of the people** from that country that I have encountered online all say the same thing. Regardless of the high ass ping, there is always no lag\input delay which is obviously impossible.

You mean no audibles right?

No, all that’s still possible against easy-to-predict stuff such as beam supers or by downright dumb luck and/or mashing. And nothing else.

Which is what you don’t want.

then maybe its prolly time for a little bit more solidarity or else we’re gonna get stuck with that netcode all the time , and Capcom wont do anything about it

@ Jamp and Seyu , the way you adapt to input lag all depends on the person ,their experience with netcodes on other fighting games and their goal while playing online

so if you see people complaining in this thread about input lag being “horrible/unplayable” instead of just “bad but we can deal with it , adjust to it” , its a sum of all that.

some players are actually willing to use the online to get better offline , but with this kind of netcode its not impossible , but very hard , because you can’t do everything.

online , I personally pushblock , hit during blockstrings and punish purely on prediction rather than reaction , and take at least one hadoken/disruptor/drone out of 3 , hurts a lot when it turns out to be a Shinku , Happy Happy Trigger or Jackpot. It helps winning online so you can indeed “adapt” to it but doesnt help you a lot getting any better.

Only 500 ms? That’s really bad lag. Most reaction-based online games are ruined by 300+ ms of lag. The difference between 10ms and 100ms is significant. In a game as fast paced as this with crucial timing, and the fact that input timings are different for every different amount of lag, latency will always be a big problem. Unless you are playing on a single machine or a local network which can get 10ms or fewer ping, it should be noticeable. Otherwise, the game is just designed to be less reaction-based.

most people everywhere in the world, north america included, wont know to tell you what exactly lag is.

Also, most of them wont notice little to moderated imput delay and/or frame skipping. Just take a fucking read on this topic and see where the shit talking guys are from. Take a look at the netcode’s threads in the SF4’s foruns aswell.

Netcode’s so shit I drop 5A 5B chain.

Lmao, mk owning mvc3 once again.

What other excuses can others can destroy from Capcom?

In Netcode? I’ve played previous iterations of MK Netcode and those were shit too…yeah, I’ll wait and see on MK9’s Netcode.

Isn’t that too early to say? Developers can talk really big when it comes to netcode, the trick is whether or not it pans out.

Though yeah, if Boon’s telling the truth about not using input delay netcode…

I highly doubt he’d blatantly lie to his fans now. They obviously see a problem with the netcode, They see that you can’t have a proper scene in America without proper online. Capcom has yet to even acknowledge their terrible online.

Capcom’s hittin the casual market and The MK team is hittin up the hardcore crowd…wut?

Netcode is trash on Xbox…sucks asshole I play the CPU alot :frowning:

Blatantly lie, sure I’d doubt it. At the same time, he’s probably been watching the reactions to SSF4 and MvC3 very closely. Knowing he needs to score points with the hardcore crowd, where else to hit it than the netcode?

Again, I’ll believe it when I see it.

you know something, i’m here in korea and the lag has a connection with time

weekday afternoons around like 2pm local time, i have LAG FREE MATCHES with literally almost anyone
some of these guys are probably like from australia or something. but a majority is with japan. i mean exactly the same as arcade mode offline

but suddenly, at 7:30, the SAME players become a fucking LAG FEST. quarter second input delay or more
i’m a pretty competitive player so like i would know input lag when i see it

but it’s pretty fucking lame cuz i get off work at 5 and i have like 2 hours to play before i have to wait until 2am before the same connections get better

obviously, those are the peak hours of internet use but i’m a fucking 100mb/s network here and it’s almost the same as when i was on 10/mbps

Lmao, good boon. Subliminally reminding us of Capcom’s consistent failures in order for us to slowly but gradually, jump on board with MK.

I saw it in the interview to.

“You don’t have to change your timing on combos”

lol come to think of it, boon subliminally attacked them at GDC too.

“You know, speculator mode, so you can actually watch the game.”

Did he even have to mention that?

Anywho, I am not expecting godlike internet, but i am expecting something better then Capcom’s shit.
