MvC 3 Netcode

I used to think the netcode was ok, but after about 400 or so offline games I’m more inclined to think I’d rather play the CPU on Very Hard than go online for competition.

The CPU is very annoying with their instant punish bullshit.

I’m sorry, but I’m not gonna buy that. The amount of data packets being sent in 1 minute of halo far surpasses the shit that goes on in a whole mvc3 match. the game keeps track of what you’re shooting, what your allies are shooting, what’s getting shot, trajectory of bullets…im sorry but that sounds like a lot more shit than anything what mvc3’s netcode has to deal with. Backbone and Arksys showed great potential in the netcode of their products, and capcom just has to take a big fail-step backwards with mvc3.

  1. That’s not true. 2. Physics are created client side and ignoring the function of servers. 3. FPSs all have randomized elements which players expect and which serves to hide lag. 4. GGPO and Backbone take two different approaches (which you can see in GGPO’s failed patent application) but in either case it’s still about hiding lag, not breaking the rules of physics to eliminate it.

it is so annoying that i never connect to matches

i got 100 wins , as soon as i get 200 and get that tittle im going to stop playing ranked, im going to add like 20 people on my friends list who live in the same city as me and only play them 1 on 1

wait… are people actually complaining about lag as real lag ? or just input delay?

because if its lag the only lag I get is at the intro of the match with people that live very far away , like west coast players , japanese players or australian players , after that all my 200 matches online have been flawless in terms of lag , lag spikes , and freezes

I get only input delay , idk about SF4 or MvC2 for comparison , but this game is sure faster paced than Blazblue

so I guess its the only thing they need to get better , along with an lag indicator that is not misleading ( 4 bars and I play US players in the lobby ) and appears in Player Matches and Ranked Matches too

and having Ranked Match and Player Match from the menu being flawless like from Training Mode instead “failed to create game session” every 5 times

People including me are complaining about the input delay it’s noticeable from the start after the " intro" when you move your character left and right. The input delay in this game is horrendous, doesn’t register block dashes and you have to mash your moves for them to even register it’s the very definition of lag. May not be freezing or spiking it’s just constant input delay.

A wired connection is not going to help you with this shit netcode. How about just drop the online all together? I did because it fucking sucks and is nowhere near the same game. Even without a single lag spike the online is still shit because of the input lag. I’m just going to stick to the games that actually play well online like hd remix until something else with ggpo or similar comes around.

Also this may have the same netcode as ssf4 but it does not perform as good. Sure it sucks ass for sf4 also but at least I don’t feel 5+ frames of input lag with people within a 40 mile radius. That shit is a fucking joke.

Anybody knows how many ranked matches I have to play in order to achieve the “Combat Specialist” trophy?

I wish i could say something other than “seconded” but I dont know what else works. I’m so dissapointed at this shit I’m going to go to Capcom Unity to see if there’s a feedback section and tell them to fix this garbage.

Agreed with the above I went out my way to get better speeds and even have two providers…only to be disappointed majorly.

Online play is nothing like offline play.

Generally, lag is described as the delay or failure of an occurrence. From what I understand, network lag - during online gaming specifically - is the latency experienced between the action of the player and the reaction of the server.

So, the noticeable input delay players experience during online play can be attributed to network lag.

It seems you either don’t notice it as much as other people, or have significantly better luck connecting to opponents where network lag really isn’t an issue.

Of course a wired connection helps. It helps quite a bit actually. I can play someone else in Los Angeles who is wired flawlessly online, and someone else also in LA who is wireless we get lag spikes all over the place. I don’t know if this is you guys trying to hide your shame in using wireless yourself, but the difference in quality is a chasm. I’ve had to play in lobbies a lot and I can always tell when the other person is wireless, every single time. It makes a huge difference.

So you’re saying when it runs flawlessly, you don’t experience ANY input delay? Because no matter how you look at it, that’s lag.

I’m playing people just in neighbouring towns all over Sweden and we’re all on wired connections but that shit’s still there. And I’m not bragging but we’re at least on par with japan when it comes to this stuff and the game is not even close to being as responsive as it is offline, even though that’s the feeling I had when playing my friends in SSF4 for example, among other games.

How many times have you posted this??

I see where you’re coming from. Wireless it’s going to hiccup, where wired it’s one constant flow from beginning to end but even if it doesn’t spike, if it takes half a second to crouch block from a standing position, it doesn’t really matter.

I pretty much can’t play online with anyone except my friend who lives 5 blocks from me…and if I’m going to play him, I’d be better off going to his place instead.

This is a fast paced game, the input delay in online matches makes it unplayable. I gave up on online almost immediately

Yep, and for those without a scene, MvC3 is dead to them.

I just play against people I have good connections with… so it’s not dead over here…

I try my best to do so as well but…even a “good” connection is shitty.

So I’ll keep playing, but I can’t take MvC3 seriously for myself because I can’t competently use those skills in any way.
