MvC 3 Netcode

I am so glad that I am not the only one experiencing lag problems on this and on SSFIV. :-/ It is frustrating that no matter how much you practice and improve, lag/latency will screw you over and even hamper your offline skills.

i dont have any ping problems at all o.o

(100mbit DSL)

i can even play vs american and japanese ppl without lag, im from EU

do you have input delay?

PSN games on a Friend to Friend lobby has been laggy for me. Just throwing this out to the thread in hopes it’s another vote for Capcom to review this shit.

So, the general consensus is that matchmaking sucks right now, but for the most part matches are decent. It depends if you’re dealing with a guy on WiFi, or just downloading terabytes of porn. It’s not on par with SNKP netcode. And I’m looking at tons of vids and it looks decent. So long as it’s not GGPO 3S bad where you see grabs beat meaties and moves become randomly invicible and unpunishable, I’m going to still pick it up for PS3.

I don’t get nearly as much lag as the 4-bar network setting in training mode, but it still not as responsive as offline play; about 0.3 seconds button delay.

This game has terrible online.

No spectator
No replays
No rematch option for Created Lobbies (what if I just want to make a 2 player lobby?)
50/50 on connection in Ranked Matches. Let me choose my opponent and have the ability to choose the latency.

Sucks really. But what can you really do. Online was obviously an after-thought for this game compared to SSFIV.

Am I the only one here getting connection has been lost messages here A LOT? How hard can it be to find a quick match when there are so many people playing?

Add to that the fact that you can’t kick people from your lobby or even mute other players.

Seriously, how a game is released, in 2011, with multiplayer like this is beyond me.

What do you mean? If there’s only 2 people in thelobby then you’re automatically rematch after you lose. If you want a quick rematch you gotta play a Player Match.

Howdy ho, I got my copy today. HYPE AS FUCK!

I did my missionmode to learn the BnB for my team, did some trainingmode, unlocked all characters etc. Shit was nice, enjoying myself with this beautiful game. So my friend asked me after a while if we should do some games online. I’ve played this dude for years in other games such as HDR and mvc2.

So we start playing and WHAT THE FUCK?! The input latency in this game is sooo fucking terrible that I just wanted to gouge my eyes out after 20 seconds of playing. I figured I’d check out my network settings if something was wrong, I even tried playing different people just to see if there was any difference, delay was still there and its heavy. I don’t know about you guys but now that I’ve experienced this sad excuse for online play I’m wishing it was half as good as SF4 right now.

Look at my avatar, that was me after about 2 games…

Hell, Kaillera did online better then MvC3 does it… I have no idea how they tested this game for multiplayer but they sure as hell didn’t care to try it outside their office, that’s what it feels like anyway. I’m from Sweden and we got some good ass internuts over here and I’ve always been pretty much satisfied with online when it came to SF4, HDR, MvC2. I don’t know if this is just a routing issue from my ISP or what it is really but I won’t be touching online until I see some significant improvements. I’m not even gonna go in to all the missing features either because the post would blow up then. End rant.

sad sad panda

Tried to sit in training mode with fight request on, nothing
Did the same with arcade mode, barely anything

this games online is so fucking half assed

honestly, this online is 10x worse than anything I’ve ever dealt with in SSF4. The matchmaking is utter shite, and the lag is so bad I can’t even do simple combos or push block. Sucks because no one near me is interested in fighting games, so I have like no way of getting good. You fucked up, Capcom.

what’s funny is this is the only game that has had no lag when playing against someone in the usa. I’ve had a hundred matches and only 2 of them were laggy and only laggy for a quarter of the match

Lag simulation training feature = ‘we cant make good net code so use this and shutup…see we DO care’

This happens to me also. Specifically the A2 button, RT on my stick. It has happened 3 times in about 20 hours of play. When I unplug the stick then plug it back in, it’s fine. If I switch games without unplugging the stick, that button is fine also.

It seems to be a problem specifically isolated to MvC3. What the fuck is going on here?

You sure you just arent trying to call an assist during a time that worked in mvc2 but now no longer works due to the longer delay/buffer time or other changes to the system?

Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Failed to Join Game Session

Very sure. It has nothing to do with calling it at any specific times. I’ll just back off for 3-4 seconds of non-action and just tap the button repeatedly, or go into training mode after that match and test it. No dice.

This thought went through my today as I tried to play online. The entire online aspect of this game is atrocious. So bad that the tournament scene will not be nearly as competitive as SSF4’s. Why? Say what you will about SSF4’s netcode but you could get games that were at least good enough. With the amount of input delay playing a person in the same city you aren’t playing anything close to the real game. Online players therefore will have no way to practice and not take the game seriously.
