slightly better than SSF4. But still cheesy ass input delay. There’s a lot of it too, but it seems more consistent, there might actually be an input delay buffer online.
When this was first announced a few weeks ago I said that after launch everyone would get pissed. Everyone just kind of shrugged it off when they said spectator mode wasn’t included because of people’s obsession with characters these days. Now that it is out people are realizing they shouldn’t have been bitching about the roster so much and that actual gameplay features are critical too.
To answer your question yes it is BS. I won’t go into lobbies with more than 4 people because of no spectator mode. I few weeks ago on a live stream Q&A Sven said that spectator mode is on their high priority list but “he isn’t making any promises”. It sounded like IF we do indeed get spectator mode it won’t be out for awhile. He said it came down to adding more characters over more features.
I would have gladly taken 30 characters with spectator mode instead of 38 without.
training mode fight request with same region, english language any rank limit is gdlk. i get a fight before i finish my dante BNB.
of course, with rank limit set to any, i had to fight maximillian dood 4 times. he’s the only guy i’ve fought that i haven’t beat 2 out of 3. Or even 1.
wesker is a whole new level of lagtactics though, real talk.
Matchmaking is horrible, you get thrown into games (if you’re lucky)
with no indication of ping. You can’t search in ranked or player.
“Search lobby” is the only way to to have an idea of the quality of
connection before a game starts.
If you have a two person (1v1) “search lobby” you have to go back
to online match-up screen every time.
Every connection if full green bars, but they all feel different, too
large of a threshold per bar. Just tell us a numeric ping capcom,
we know your netcode is ass, you can’t hide behind the green.
Hitches and input delay everywhere, hope to see it calm down
after more of my friend’s list is playing.
(games fun, I didn’t plan on playing online much)
In game is fine, but connecting to games is fucking terrible
20 minutes of “failed to connect”
This.
Also it is stupid how when you get Fail to join in search lobby, it takes u back to original online menu.
And why oh why did they make Danger room the default stage and not random? Seriously…common sense design?
It would seem were all in “online hell” not just the rage quitters.
Meanwhile at Blizzard…
I thought the netcode used UDP?
how people can say that the netcode is better than ssf4 is beyond me.
ssf4 is heaven compared to mvc3.
ponder already said why mvc3 dont have it, the devs said that it would be dificult for them to implement ggpo on the game because the way that they made it, not because its 3d or because its dificult to do it
the new arcade dbz game use ggpo
lol, obviously you know nothing about animation, Guilty Gear-ish animation its not limited, it deliveredly made that why because the game is fast paced and because you need to see in what frame are you to do the cancels
capcom doesnt have standards of animation either, just for one game that they made with exagerated amount of frames people think that they are the gods on animation lol
sf3 is slow compared to other games, plus they reuse the animations on supers and specials, in order to atract people at that time they needed to do the game that way
Got the game, netcode so far seems pretty much like SSF4, not the best in the world, works ok in ideal conditions, nothing compared to GGPO.
The lobby interface is pretty terrible though, cant see the connection status, cant kick people (if someone from a far away country ends up joining, you know the connection is going to be bad, nothing you can do about it but leave), cant see the country of origin of your opponent till you ready up.
It amazes me how Capcom managed to go backwards from an already barebones (but did the job…) interface for SSF4, and ended up with this monstrosity of an interface.
I might end up with egg in my face if the above points turn out to be false but I can’t for the life of me find these features.
I do like the game so far though, not a bad game.
Gameplay is pretty smooth but I pick same region. I do hate the fucking failure streaks though trying to find someone to play with. For both ranked and player matches. So annoying! I hate the lobby set up too.
So, I have my verdict on the netcode.
It’s fucking terrible.
I’m done with this game until they patch to fix it.
Lobbies may be fine, but I like to play ranked. And I like to play ‘same’ skill level. As soon as I select same/english/same, I get failure to connect/host lost connection/fail fail fail about 50 times in a row. The alternative is to open up opponents to all skill levels, but tbh that isn’t fun either, because I have zero chance of beating a lot of the people I randomly get paired with.
Originally I thought that maybe the netcode would be paired down, without as many features as SSFIV perhaps, but still functional. Well, it isn’t functional. It isn’t functional at all. My connection is fine to most of the U.S. in all games including SFIV/SSFIV so it’s not on my end; it’s just incompetent coding.
What a fucking disappointment. The game is great! But I have no time to play with local people at their houses since I have a job and a family, so if Capcom doesn’t come out with a fix to matchmaking in the next month or two I’m trading this bitch in.
I swear I hope Namco Bandai surprises the hell out of everyone and makes TTT2 rollback-based. Not only would it make me (again) a massive Tekken fanboy, but it would shut up soooo many of these apologists and excuse-makers about how good netcode for a modern FG just isn’t possible.
My hopes aren’t up for that game either, though. Maybe MK9 online, since it’s a Western dev, but the jury is still out if that game is actually gonna be any good.
This is correct. If you set these parameters you will get matches. However, you will get matches with people a lot better than you or a lot worse than you (if you don’t suck as bad as me–I seem to get very very few fights of my beginner skill level). If you’re looking to fight people of about your skill level you’re screwed. TBH I don’t find it very fun to play people who are a ton better than me, since it’s over after about ten seconds into the game.
Yeah the netcode for this game is really really bad. The input delay is always noticeable. It’s just like a fighting game on the first xbox. I’ve haven’t had any problems with any other game or fighting game on xbl. Even tekken 6 netcode was more playable than this, which is funny.
I’m a tournament/serious player, for anyone out there looking for input from serious players.
Game is great, netcode is a pile.
Having to manually try to search again after every failure to connect is a massive pain. What the hell was their thought process on that one? “They may have changed their mind in the 4 seconds it took the game to fail to connect! They should have to tell the game what kind of match they want again!”
The input delay is BAD. Really, REALLY bad. It’s so bad I’m considering using arcade mode for combo practice because it, as pathetic as it sounds, is a better replication of a real match than online.
I’m severely disappointed with the online right now. This is my favorite engine and it’s tainted by this abomination of an online system.
Having the exact same connection issues as well. I have no problems with my other games, nor do I have any problems with lobbies vs. friends or random people, but searching for someone via Ranked Match is horrible and results with the issues at least 95% of the time, even with the Any/English/Any trick.
I can understand this sort of problem occurring for the first week or two (at the latest), but if what they’re giving us is final, I’ll be sorely disappointed.
I simply cannot play the game online, I want to play ranked matches, and I cant. I just get fail and lost connection for 20 minutes straight. What is the point of even owning this game now?
I found today that hosting my lobby is really the way to go for now on. Seem like I get far more smooth fights when I’m hosting the lobby myself. Ranked isn’t really that important to me, so, I’m more then happy with giving it up for the moment.
