as far as i can tell top tier now is psylocke and cammy. a TON of characters are actually now playable.

Chun-li? She would still have low to 80%ish, although her overhead game without an assist is pretty gahbage.
I think if you banned those characters, and then took assists away to boot, you could just block low 90% of the time.
Psylocke would be godlike.

hey guys, actually TRY PLAYING THIS GAME first before you think about bans. lets find out if something is REALLY GAME BREAKING before we treat it as such.
you’re not gonna dominate anyone with cable, go ahead and try! without an assist everyone in the cast has a chance against him, except maybe jugg and other big guys. if anything the only thing thats fucked up with cable is if you get the guard break on incoming characters, but cable kinda actually deserves to kill off a character if he SOMEHOW lands rh xx super. after playing this with some friends for a few days, imo cable is only high tier, all small characters fuck his shit up.
before you criticize and tell me whats broken go and turn on your dreamcast, call your friends over, and play. then come back and lets talk about the rules.

up to you. i personally go into key config to turn assists into taunt to prevent accidental calls.

its funny how everything comes full circle. my friends and i played the game this way when it first came out. We didn’t know about the god tier. and we didn’t use assists. then i went to the arcade and just couldn’t beat a guy who was playing with assists and destroying me with Cable. and that ended that era. :amazed: and now its back

I don’t think Strider is much of a threat without assists. He is just a way worse version of MvC1 Strider. He loses his best normals, has less stamina and Ouros ends up faster.
I play the game without assists from time to time and the game seems to look more like how it’s layed by the newbies. Not in a bad way, but in the sense that pixies own beamers, beamers own big guys and big guys own pixies, or at least Juggs do to certain extent.
Right now I like Cyclops, Cammy, Dhalsim, Megaman, Doom and Psylocke as high tiers. Marrow and Omega Red seems promising too. Very interesting game.
