Down low ha ha, add the Bodog profile that’s in my friend list for +1 song. Should be on like page 2 since I don’t have many people added. Ugh, and as for Blind Dream, I don’t even know the status of that track anymore. Some wack ass dude from Vegas spit on it before I knew exactly how wack he was, but since he wasn’t doing shit for our project, I aborted that shit so he has no rights to the recorded version. So it’s still naked right now. Warpticon been missing in action, thought he wanted on Blind Dream too. Blah, guess eventually everything will come together.
I don’t know shit about Producing music… but I really want to get into mixing/producing electronic music… where do I start?! I’m a complete noob… don’t know music theory, don’t know what the fuck a synthesizer or whatever the fuck does… help?
Alright don’t know where else to ask, this thread seems like the best place.
I want house/trance/electronic music singles, so eh, what would be the best place for buying mp3s? And I want a site that has rare underground songs too. I don’t feel like having accounts at 10 different sites.
Aiite, I’d like for you super producers and or musicians to help me with input/feedback for this song I jus uploaded. I’m new to this thing and just wonderin’ where I stand amongst the Srk community.
Criticsms more than welcome.
Common starting points would be to either: Learn an instrument(piano, bass or guitar would get you the furthest) or learn about some gear. Try out Ableton live or Reason, one of those should do something for you. Fruity Loops is an option but I personally hate it, it IS easy as hell though.
As far as shit you will need to buy: Well if you just pirate some shit or dl demos you might be ok with mousing your way around at first, but you will quickly find that you need a controller keyboard. Get something with some knobs so you can automate(real time changing sounds with fades, filters, fx) and mutate sounds. Look at shit from M-Audio and CME.
Then if you wanna get a little more serious a decent music soundcard and some good monitors and headphones will be the next step. Then maybe some mics and a daw controller or a dedicated music PC. ; ]
I can’t really say how to get started with learning theory or how to play, you just have to want to do it. Actually sitting down with an instrument is usually a pretty positive circular relationship. You will get out a lot of reinforcement via what you put in and you learn a lot about music by just hitting/strumming some notes. Thats how I started, cheap casio and windows sound recorder with a tin can microphone.
Just don’t overwhelm yourself by investing in 5000 dollars of gear and a brand new guitar off the bat or something and you should be aight.
Well M-Audio makes decent “prosumer” gear, the real benefit to using m-audio stuff is that their drivers and service if something goes wrong is pretty good because they are a large company as compared to some of the smaller european makers.
I of course would want more keys in a keyboard but the o2 has some knobs and shit which are useful and the trigger finger is nice. If you are new to recording I think shit like the fast track is perrrrrfect, cuz its inexpensive so if you outgrow it or dont like something about it then you can move up, know what I mean? Anyway just make some tunes man;]
Having both used FLS and Ableton I like ableton’s features better. It feels more organized and there isn’t clutter like windows everywhere. It also looks cooler. Both FLS and Ableton are easy to learn, however FLS has the piano roll which is just totally easy, intuitive and awesome, this is why I’m sticking to FLS for ahwhile. In Ableton, you can edit loops much easier, and do crazy stuff with it. Try both demos out.
Cool. Well, in one of your synths, there isn’t any phatness. I think chorus/unison/phaser effects you slapped on to it is preventing it from getting some OOMPH. The pitch bended synth on the low end is too loud for me, and it might interfere with your kick drums. I can’t really tell on my speakers though. Your drum line is kind of boring. Add some hats to it. Change the drum line around too.
But you can’t beat me with those Ronald McDonald boots.
Hey, is anyone here familiar with making drum n bass kinda music? I’m more interested in the methods used for making the drums for those kinda tracks. If anyone here makes DnB or jungle or whatever you personally wanna call the awesome music related to those, what methods do you use to make the drum patterns for those? That is some shit I can not comprehend. Anyway, does anyone know a good starting point for that? I haven’t found any good forums or anything for drum n bass production methods, any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

P.S. Anybody working on any tight or interesting projects at the moment?
Man don’t get Qd up, I invented Terma, you’re part of it cause I lechoo. When you gonna start your keyboard fund so we can get that shit going anyway? Better hit up Craigslist or Ebay man.
